For me these are the highlights of the video. The nifty Citirail locomotive, another two Warbonnets, the UP AC6000 lead loco, the exciting train race and the Ferromex SD70ACe. These lines are super busy in peak hours and you captured the action very nicely again. Thank you for this sensational upload. :)
I was glad it wasn't the expected "one intermodal after the other" show, but that there were a lot of remarkable and surprising details - some of them you mentioned. It was a great day out there and it's nice the videos came out well. You're welcome; I'm happy you enjoyed it.
I appreciate all of the time you spent filming this. Great train video. Thank you so much. If your interested in trains this is great. We can’t get out anymore & adore Utube. And my husband loves trains.
Thank you very much for your kind feedback. I'm always happy when I can present my railfanning stories to those who cannot experience these adventures by themselves. A new video will be public in a few minutes. I hope you'll enjoy it, too.
Hello MBMARS. I ABSOLUTELY Loved this video nicely done. Part 1 was great Part 2 had so much eye candy like part 1. A couple of things that caught my eye two trains elephant style. I thought it was unusual to see one engine on Cajon although it had two DPU’S. The scenery was breathtaking. The action was so much fun to watch trains going in all directions in one shot. MBMARS I”M not a suck up I love your videos. I know everybody has there opinion I cannot believe one person hates this video. Thanks again I appreciate you
I also think these videos contain a lot of exciting footage. BNSF can appear to be somewhat uniform at times, but not so much at this location. There was a lot to discover and UP added nice stuff to the mix anyway. I liked watching every single train and the extraordinary scenery contributed its own part. Spending so many hours exposed to the elements (sun, strong winds) can be exhausting, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm glad the video could convey at least part of this joy. Great you liked it!
Great video!! Keep up the great work sir!! Cool shots!! Have you thought about where you're going to go next year sir? I love the senory in this video.
Hi mbmars01! Excellent footage from cajon pass! Love the angles and power you caught on all these trains! This "Legendary Cheering Railfan" will subscribe! :)
Great you enjoyed it. I only know that the Scherer BNSF coal trains that come through Atlanta on NS have two DPUs at the end and that NS 153 has two mid-DPUs. On the CSX Abbeville Sub, there's only G047 that might have two DPUs, but I have never seen him.
Yea, but I think for the relatively short manifests and the fast intermodals on this line they don't really need AC power. It's more something to consider for slow, heavy, loaded unit trains.
Yes, true. That's why virtually all new road locos are ACs. But they are also expensive. The Dash 9s and DC Gevos still have a lot of life in them, so it makes sense for the railroads who have them to use them on trains that do not require particularly high tractive effort.
Thanks! This was an empty ethanol train, so no need to care about sandwiching the tankers between the buffer cars. I would also think that not all 6 locos were online. Some were simply transferred on this train to another location.
No, there was no problem. I had conquered a hill near Cajon Summit. It's a few miles northeast of Cajon Junction on Road 3N45 (locations are actually mentioned in the video).
I do have a question the funeral train that was used for president Franklin Roosevelt’s funeral what type of locomotive was it? And where is it today? Great 👍 video and I will be subscribing
I do not know if there was more than one locomotive used along the journey to D.C., but one was Southern 1401, a 2-6-4 (or Pacific) type steam locomotive built by ALCO. It's an incredibly beautiful engine and nowadays on display at the Smithsonian in D.C.
The raw power and variety of the trains in the USA puts our feeble UK freights to shame - even though most are now hauled by EMD and GE locos ! Incredible location too. I think I may have driven through there while visiting aircraft boneyards a few years back - going from Victorville to San Bernardino. It amazes me the poor state of the bodywork on the UP locos compared to the others, and the number of UP locos that seem to carry the scars of past thermal events.

I like your Expedition to SoCal series. Fantastic shots. Excellent video. Thank you for sharing.
Many thanks. I'll mix in other stuff in the following weeks, but there are still a few more parts coming in this series :) Great you like it!
Excellent videos. Pt2 just as great as Pt1. Keep them coming. 😎😎
Thanks! There will be a few more from the SoCal trip, but I'll also add other stuff to the mix. The next video will probably focus on CSX again.
@@mbmars01 Can't wait for your next video.
Working on it ;)

Great 2nd half of this video! Wonderful footage, you sure don't disappoint!😃
Very cool, my pleasure!
Yes sir, a great second half of the day. Great trains and super quality video. Great job and thanks for sharing. 🚂
Nice, thanks! Producing a video like this takes four nights. I'm glad you like the result!
Wow so many trains so many are some forage doesn't get better than This. Great video bro.
41 trains in 11 hours is a good rate I'd think :) I'm glad the videos came out well.
Thanks mbmars01 for sharing the outstanding video.Endeavors and exertions are prominent.Bliss
You're welcome. It was a great day and I'm happy the two videos could capture the atmosphere.
Great video!! Keep up the great work sir!! Cool shots!! Have you thought about where you're going to go next year sir? I love the senory in this video.
Thanks! No, I haven't yet made plans for future travels. First I need to get the material of this trip out :) This takes a lot of time.

Thank you very much and welcome!
34:43 Original Santa Fe main on the right. New Santa Fe/BNSF mains at center; SP Palmdale Cutoff at left. BTW, that UP coal train is headed to Trona.
Terrific catches/meets/power/races! A lot of long coal trains out there. I bet you took time off from work to go there.
Thanks. Indeed, this was my summer vacation :)
Nice video sir!! Cool shots sir!! Keep up the great work sir!! How long did you have to wait in between trains sir?
Thank you! Well, the times are given in the video. There were about four trains per hour, so 15 minutes between trains on average.
@@mbmars01 ok thanks
Sweet video sir!! Keep up the great work sir!! Cool shots sir!! Do you get any double D-pus on your CSX or Norfolk Southern line?

Cajon pass one of my favorites!
great video
Thanks :)
Epic conclusion. Well done.
Nice, thanks!
Wow you caught a few rare BNSF AC4400s, nice.
That's right; I just wish they would look as little more different than D9s, of which I saw many :)
@@mbmars01 True, and they have way too many d9s, almost 100k more traction with the AC
Yea, but I think for the relatively short manifests and the fast intermodals on this line they don't really need AC power. It's more something to consider for slow, heavy, loaded unit trains.
@@mbmars01 I get that but AC also brings lower fuel consumption and traction motor maintenance.

Thanks!
Another blockbuster video , how do you do it , keep up the great work .
Very cool you like it. I'll do... :)
Another great video! Don't understand why BNSF had double buffer on the front on a 6 loco lashup but no buffer on the rear
Thanks! This was an empty ethanol train, so no need to care about sandwiching the tankers between the buffer cars. I would also think that not all 6 locos were online. Some were simply transferred on this train to another location.
@@mbmars01 makes sense thanks for the clarification
Do the Authorities mess with you being so close the tracks? And where exactly is it at, is it close to the cajon inn
No, there was no problem. I had conquered a hill near Cajon Summit. It's a few miles northeast of Cajon Junction on Road 3N45 (locations are actually mentioned in the video).
awesome video!!!!! i need to spend the day there
Many thanks. You wouldn't regret it. It's a beautiful area to watch plenty of trains.
thank you mr mars...for the 2nd part ...so nice ...love the 4K view. how high are these auto racks
Excellent, thank you! The autoracks are about 20ft (6m) high.
so...they are higher than a doublestacked containercar??
They have about the same height.
Ah..ok thank you 👍

It's an awesome location. I agree, BNSF engines looked as if in better shape than most I saw on UP.
Cool video. Good catches. I love it.
Thank you! Great you enjoyed it.
Very cool video
Thanks, good you enjoyed it!
I did enjoy the video very cool
Awesome! Keep watching, there will be more soon :)
Okay I keep watching
great video mbmars01 :)
Thanks so much!
can you tell me why some of the up's have the flag and some do not just wondering
I don't think there's a deeper meaning behind that. It looks like the newer ones do have the flag, the older ones don't.
You should do your next series along the Joint Line in Colorado.
That's definitely something I'd love to do!
Always wondered, what are the other tracks for?
Now you know :)
