Guru Ron Balicki has had a long association with Cold Steel, and his contributions to our success have been invaluable. Ron is known world-wide for his vast knowledge of Filipino Martial Arts, Thai Boxing, Boxe Française, Silat, Shootfighting, and Degerberg Mixed Martial Arts, as well as being the founder and chief instructor of MARS (Martial Arts Research Systems), overseeing 2000 MARS instructors and students globally. Our President, Lynn C. Thompson, has been Ron’s private student and training partner for 20 years! Ron has learned a thing or two about fighting sticks and we are proud to introduce his favorite, the Balicki Stick. Slimmer, shorter, and substantially lighter than our standard Escrima Stick, it exhibits Ron’s preference for speed and agility.

Dear Cold Steel: I like the concept and construction of the balicki stick. May I suggest you construct a walking stick from the same materials and thickness dimensions? I know you did the slim city stick at one time, but it appears to have been discontinued, and with all due respect many of your other sticks, while strong, are a bit on the heavy side for quick use. Thank you.

I've been using these sticks for years it has saved me a fortune after going through sticks every few months.
They are a bit heavier so that takes a bit. But they are just about indestructible with normal use. I've beat them on trees an all kinds of stuff they still look new.

I used escrima srticks when i was in karate and i always felt those were a bit unwieldy (very thick) and clunky, would almost prefer a hexagonal stick as i never felt that bothered my hands using an octagonal bo staff but octagonal kali or escrima sticks would obviously tear other sticks up a lot faster with the corners on it.
