South Africa (Springboks) are the current Rugby World Cup holders. They have won the cup 4 times, which the world record. No other country has won it 4 times.

Apologies if I repeat what others tell you. 15 players a team all with different positions, but all are attackers and defenders. There aren’t separate units of players for both roles. The game is two halves of 40 minutes, 15 minutes in between them, no time outs and only stops for infringements or injuries. That is a scrum and it’s from that your American Football developed the line of scrimmage. The head gear is optional and is only a cloth cap to stop you getting cauliflower ears, or even them being ripped off. The tackle is legal! Don’t believe the headline of the video, it’s designed to attract viewers, there are videos of other teams which have similar titles.
Theres offence and defence but they are all on at the same time. 1-8 are the forwards “defence” and 9-15 are the backs “offence”z But in rugby they practically do everything for 80 minutes unless they are substituted, so you’ll see the big guys scoring points and the small guys playing defence as well.
That! Is a scrum. It is one of the set pieces in rugby. It’s like inverse tug of war. It’s the most physical part of the game. The team with the scrum will feed the ball into the scrum and the teams must fight for it essentially. The Springboks have the most dominant scrum in the world, the boys are huge !
Usually the guys with the scrum caps (headgear) are usually the smaller guys but not always. So it’s not prescribed or anything but I’m sure there’s a reason some always have it like Kolbe and KLA.
Watch Chasing The Sun the documentary about how SA won the 2019 World Cup then you’ll see why the boys play. I would definitely encourage my kids to play. Not me though, I’m not an athletic girly 🤣
The philosophy in the Springboks team is to have the right people, not the best people. The Springboks are made up of South African players, some of them play their club rugby abroad and some domestically. They are the right players to represent the country 😭 it’s the deepest squad in the world and we have the most rugby world cups. The one you just saw was from 2019 and we won it again just now in 2023. We won on debut in 1995 (immediately after the first democratic elections in South Africa at the end of apartheid) and again in 2007.
We call them Die Bokke which is Afrikaans for the Springboks 🇿🇦

Do teams have defenses and offenses?
of course, sometime you have the ball and some times the other team has it.
Now if you meant, are they different players, hell no. Even if they were there is no way to change the players back and forth. Play doesn't stop between changes of possession. The clock continues to run.
Substitutions are very limited. There are only 8 players on the bench and once you go off there is no coming back on. You go off the pitch, that's it. Your day is done.
There are nowhere near as many injuries as you think.
That head gear isn't what you think. It's is not even supposed to protect the head at all. It's actually EAR protection. Some positions are prone to getting cauliflower ears. Some players that wear Scrumcaps don't play in those positions so I have no idea why they wear them. Perhaps they have long hair and don't want it accidentally pulled.
