That is a lot of lye for a home drain, a quarter of that should work fine. If anyone else wants to use this to clear a drain, use arm length gloves rated for use with highly basic chemicals. You should at the very least have a bath of vinegar or any other similarly acidic solution to clean your hands in case you accidentally touch it. Do not try to clean your hands with plain water, it will worsen the problem. Put the solution down the drain afterwards to neutralize what is left in the p-trap. There will be a bit of hissing and bubbling but this will prevent a shocked frenzy when someone doesn't know what's happening.
Ya know, I did this right before I found this video... About an hour ago. This video needs more attention because it's super helpful.
Glad it helped!
This or any type of pure lye is awesome. It cleared up my drain that was shooting back up black gunk
The dad joke really sold it at the end 😂

I thought it had to be cold water. That's what the bottle says.
Works better with hot but is more dangerous. Use glasses if using hot water.
i always thought this was common knowledge.
I just drank a diluted mean green bathroom Cleaner tasted bad can't believe I didn't spit out. Wont do this again.
