The "crystalline" shaped 4-sided die isn't a new thing ... the continued failure to adopt it more widely is indeed a mystery. All those dang caltrops pyramids should be pitched into the sun!
My "TOM IS WRONG" comment. I'm a big laminator but I disagree with all Roll & Writes needing to be on laminated sheets. (although I'm sure laminated works better for the Dice Tower library). Being able to give everyone their own piece of paper is part of the charm of R&W's and it makes it cheap to produce. Twilight Inscription came "laminated" but it is not waterproof on the edges. It is much harder to get completely clean. I would have preferred throw away sheets or to laminate myself so I could seal the edges and be able to clean it in the sink.
I agree that laminated is not always necessary. I couldn’t imagine playing Cartographers laminated. That said, if you can do it and it makes sense for the game (where you don’t have to write a lot of fine detail) then I do prefer it.
You disagree that all of them need to be on laminated sheets … but only because the lamination is sometimes lacking …? This does not compute. Either it’s better to laminate (which it is, always) or it is not.
@@chuckm1961 There's more than two options. 1. Lamination that is not waterproof (manufactured) 2. Sealed edge lamination (DIY) 3. paper sheets 2 and 3 are less work to clean up than 1.
It's a great gateway game. Just played it tonight with 2 friends. One isn't much of a gamer, the other seems to be. They both really loved it and thought they could get it for family gatherings.
I played the online version solo and I'm kind of addicted right now! I've played many roll and write games, but this one is my favorite currently! It's simple but still challenging! I wouldn't expect that I would like this game that much! So, probably the 8 might make sense then!
It's a simple game but the race aspect can lead to bad decisions trying to catch up or get ahead. So you still have to try and be thoughtful to when you jump some numbers or hold back.
I believe Chris was channeling Mike there at the end. 😅
Dodecahedron is 12-sided. Icosahedron is 20-sided.
Dodeca-D'OH!
HEY. You get correct pronunciations OR correct definitions here. NOT both. 😂

LOL I did not know Matterhorn was a real mountain, I thought it was just a Disney Parks ride! Wow. Board games ARE educational!
Wait till you hear K2 is not a boyband
A little plain , but I think having this and hadrins wall would cover both sides of the spectrum.

You can't put 14 on top of 18, Tom! 😀
What no campaign? Disappointed...🤣
8??! No way! 😅 But I would get it just for the dice for sure!

It's really good
I have to say it looks pretty boring
The simplicity of the mechanics really are at odds with tense interesting choices during gameplay. It’s a really elegant game.
I was dubious but tried the online version and it's pretty fun!
