    Aww Congratulations on the birth of your precious baby girl Sosa. The choice for you to have a baby on your own was not only wise but brave.

    I've delivered 6 babies, and even though I had severe complications, an emergency c-section, and even delivered twins with later pregnancies, my first birth was the one which tore me up and was the most difficult recover. I had to have an emergency 3rd degree episiotomy with that one. It was my most difficult delivery physically. I call myself a "solo parent" because my husband passed away unexpectedly. There is no dad in another house. He lives in a cemetery. My husband, my mother and my best friend all passed away within 18 months, so I'm a SOLO parent. Raising grieving children while you're grieving was the biggest challenge of my life.

    In my generation a single mom was thought to be a lot of things. None of them good! So glad you show respect for those of us who did it alone. I’ve never heard such reaffirming words. I wish my kids listened to you.

    Lala, I love your ache. Thank you for saying that. My daughter felt a lot of shame when my granddaughter was born because they did not ask her about bottle or breast feeding. They assumed breast feeding and she felt pushed into it and tried it and couldn’t do it and it made her extremely depressed when she was already dealing with PPA. So, thank you for saying that. Congratulations on the birth of baby Sosa. Honestly, a beautiful baby. You are so blessed. 🩷

    I have been watching this podcast since the very beginning and I am pleased to share that at 32 I'm having my first baby. I left a toxic Marriage and got pregnant immediately when I hadn't been able to for 5 years. This podcast has helped get me through and it is making me feel like I can do this. It's scary and exciting but I feel in my gut like this is doable and it's okay to be excited despite the unconventional circumstances

    I was the unlucky one I guess. I have given birth 4 times, and not one time was I ever even offered an epidural. I never knew they gave them like they do now. 84, 86, 87, & 89, not one of them was an epidural ever offered. I had my babies naturally, no drugs what so ever. So happy for you that all went well and you and your lil one are doing good. Fabulous!!!!

    • @betsybabf748
      @betsybabf748 7 днів тому

      Epidurals and spinals aren't just offered. The parents do their research and become educated about all possible options during pregnancy, and they are available during labor if you request it. They were a readily-available, widely-used option in the 80s. I chose not to ask for one with my eldest child in 1989, going med-free, but my mother asked for one, having one while having my sister in 1978.

They did ask me if i was planning on breatfeeding ahead of time and they neve asked again or said anything else...and I made the decision for both of my babies to not breast feed andi think either choice is good!!! With our diets nowadays the food we are given to eat for me it was healthier to give my babies formula!!!

    Having a friend who is willing to play Grey's Anatomy for you is pretty cool. 💗💗 The assumption of breast-feeding IS the progressive change. They always used to ask you your preference during hospital registration (or during labor if you didn't pre-register) and if you chose formula feeding, they just got formula ready for your baby, never mentioning lactation except to advise you how to care for your breasts as your milk dried up when you left the hospital. Progressives fought and complained that they were "encouraging" formula. They won, and laws and policy were then changed to where it is automatic assumption of breastfeeding, and they are not allowed to even mention formula unless the patient says it first, requesting it. Then they are still required to try to change their mind (they call it 'additional education') once more before actually caving and providing the formula. They also are no longer allowed to give the mom formula to take home for the first week, as they always did. THIS is the new progressive way, and most don't like it. It used to be easy. You just circled or wrote breast or bottle on the paper, and that was it.

    I don’t think it’s wrong to encourage mothers to breastfeed. If someone is unable to or it really doesn’t go well for them, fine you tried and you need to prioritize your health and wellness. But I do think it’s wrong to not even try it out. So many undeniable incomparable benefits to both mother and baby, for their health, bonding etc.

      You don't have to wait long! Anyone who is raising a child could give 100 reasons and examples every single day why it is not at all selfish lol. Though one with no parenting experience obviously wouldn't know these things, which is understandable. Almost every reason one has kids is SELFLESS, so that statement is not at all accurate. As adults, we have children for all we can give of ourselves to another human for them to have a full and happy life, not for what they as just children can give to us. We do all the work as parents! The children just live, grow and learn, not owning us anything back. If someone isn't capable of that or doesn't want to devote that much to another human, they shouldn't have kids which why it definitely isn't for everyone. Your comments present more that you are getting upset over your own inner issues, not over Easton stating his opinion, which of course he has every right to do with whatever words he chooses to utilize.
