  • In the last video I mention that I'm waiting for a better and more successful pen to use that is both inexpensive and has a flex nib. Well, here we are on the next step toward that goal!
I am changing out the dip pen Zebra G flex nib I was experimenting with in my Jinhao X750 and putting in a Fountain Pen Revolution FPR Ultra Flex EF steel nib.
Back in the 80's and early 90's when I found myself doing some music copying now and then, I used a dip pen with a flex nib or a music nib. My other option was a fountain pen with a 1.5 mm stub. This X750 normally sports the stub but I wanted to try the dip pen Zebra G flex nib in it and find out how it would work out. I already had the nibs but had never thought of putting one in a fountain pen, so I did.
    Did it work?
    In a word: No.
It wrote beautiful but only in short spurts and then I would have to prime the feed. This caused a greater risk of blotting so I needed a better option.
The FPR Ultra Flex is working out very well and now I will see if I can fit it to another pen that I own which also turned up a failure for my very specific music writing needs and you can see that in the next video.
