- In this video we went to seen Dan, who owns a freshly restored Mk1 Fiesta XR2 he bought after selling his Porsche. Unlike the Porsche the Fez is set to be a keeper and I don't blame him. Its absolutely MINT and has been treated to a few sensible modifications, which will upset the purists but improve the car in my opinion. 👍

Gorgeous car. Mk1 XR2 is the favourite car I ever owned - so simple and raw to drive hard, when handling meant more than 0-60 or top speed in a straight line!
Credit to the builder of the XR2. Terrific job 👏
I'm a purist but I think this is a great little XR2.

Great video Marcus glad to see Dan loves it. My dad was the previous owner of this. The mods were done before he got it but he refitted the suspension, replaced the brakes and alternator as well as the carburettor and some smaller cosmetic things. Good to see it being used and well looked after.
I also owned this car but it was 1991-1995 😊
I'm the current owner as from 2 days ago, it's great to meet previous owners 👌

I always thought that flap on the dashboard was an ashtray! Never knew it was a vent. Every days a school day ! Lovely little xr2, reminds me of my youth 👍
I owned a 1980 Fiesta S (US Spec LHD) that I absolutely loved. It was the same color, or at least very close to this one in this UA-cam video. I had this car from new in 1980 until 1988. I had added some European spec parts including the grill and taillights. I also fitted Koni struts and Dunlop 70 profile tires, on the original 12" steelies.
The car shown in the video had round headlights, which surprised me a bit since I thought only the USA import version had the round ones (sealed beams). The car in the video does look immaculate and really brought back some memories!

Why oh why didn’t I keep my caspian blue mk1, or any of the Old Ford’s I’ve had over the years (too many to list). Mint example mate, personally I’d put everything back to oem but each to they’re own. Can’t deny how mint it is tho, lovely job 👍
Main thing I remember about my old mk1’s and mk2’s is how much better the cross flow engine was than the cvh in the mk2, I had endless problems with some of my mk2’s but the mk1’s seemed so much more reliable.
You guys are lucky,! We can't have these in the US . I've seen guys take our Escorts and put turbo's on them . They get down the road ok but I love these car's

Hey Marcus, just want to say a brilliant channel and some lovely cars you have been to see lately. In my opinion these old Fords are like old Minis "Another one on the road and the owner should be free to subtly modify any way they choose". Just glad to see another old car on the road that I can remember from my youth. Keep up the good work 🙂

The minute you opened the door and filmed the interior I smelt this weird Vanilla Magic tree in my brain... Weird how visual effects can trigger smells !!!
And vice versa mate, mad what evokes memories, I still got 3 or 4 cassettes from yrs ago and got nothing to play them on, I know once I play them I'll be back in my old cav gsi, Sri or xr3i with my jbl amp/kenwood 7x10 ....kenwood mask lol, hang on to them memories mate

I have the same issue keeping cars, a year or a year and a half and they are gone, i'm trying to change that with mi mk1 fiesta, i want to enjoy it a bit more, keep improving it and have the classic i always wanted.

Wow, my Mk1 Fiesta was stolen and involved in a ram raid. Solid cars, I wished I'd kept mine.
The roof spoiler was part of the Ford body kit it also came with body skirts as optional extras . I had them on my mine it was sunburst red the same Was Absolutely mint ! my biggest ever regret was selling it 😢

What a beautifully restored XR2. Although the interior isn't period correct, it's perfect and looks standard. I can't get over how nice this car looks. Probably the best I have seen on your channel!
As I watched when he opened the doors and I saw those extra clocks, I though 'Oh no'. Later when he said he was going to remove them, I thought 'It will be perfect!'
Used to have an old fella who live a few doors from me who had a black one of these. He bought it new. Every time I came out of the house he was polishing it.

£300 for a radio would have been very expensive back then. My dad earned £145 a week as a long distance lorry driver back in 1981 (think that was w plate) as a comparison. Beauty of a car though. Keep em coming Marcus!

I’ve owned well over 60 cars mainly fords . Had xr3s , xr2’s, rs turbos, escort cosworths, saff cosworths, mk1 and mk2 escorts etc. But last year I sold my mk1 as I wanted to itch the Porsche scratch . Bought a cayman S last July . Best car I’ve ever owned - but I still needed my Ford fix so as well as the cayman I’m restoring a mk2 Rs2000 ! Can’t get them out of the blood !
Dan was telling me how capable and fun his Cayman was👍 I wouldn’t want to experience such a car because I may not want to drive old banger Fords again afterwards! 😀

If you noticed the two spoke steering wheel for the XR2 but a XR3 would have a three spoke wheel something you wouldn't see on modern cars these days

The XR3 & early XR3i did have a 2 spoke steering wheels as did the XR4i. It was a bit of a Ford thing at the time.
