Why does everyone think he died to get to limbo! The tag line says "uncertain of his sister's fate a boy enters Limbo", to me that says that he's a living person who purposefully entered Limbo to save his sister! In fact in some versions of the game there is a secret level you unlock by getting all the eggs where you can see a ring of candles (probably from a ritual he did to get to Limbo). That even explains why his eyes are visible when everyone else's in Limbo aren't, he's alive there dead.
i mean, when i read the description my immediate thought was ok, he killed himself or died somehow to get into Limbo. I'm not really aware of any living beings entering Limbo. So that'd be why most everyone thinks he's dead. Assuming he was alive would require an explanation as to, since when do the living in any media, enter Limbo. Because they don't.

It was such a beautiful game to play. So much effort being put in a game from the sound effects & background music to the little movements that you mentioned. I really wanted to believe the Car crash theory but the Tree House theory seems to be the most logical one! You're right, although it's not a horror game but it makes you feel things at so many different levels. When the boy pierced through the glass and woke up again, at the same place where the game started, for a moment I felt that maybe he'll never find his sister, maybe you just keep playing the game again and again, just like a Limbo, which has no end! But thank god, not a very happy end, but it did end. Thanks for the video!
"Limbo" is the name of the dream world created by the experimenters in the sequel game INSIDE. All those people that are plugged into those machines in the game INSIDE are in so called "Limbo". The sister is an illusion, she is implanted in his mind in the dream world so he thinks he has some goal or direction but really Limbo is completely pointless. In Limbo he never dies he just thinks he dies. INSIDE on the other hand you actually die. But you control numerous copies of yourself, each time you come back to life you are actually controlling a different clone of yourself (you can see yourself off in the distance in INSIDE running into buildings for example). The clones are indirectly being controlled by the blob you save at the end, controlled through method of a goal structure rather then specific movements of the boy not unlike the "find your sister" goal structure in Limbo. The second hidden ending in INSIDE takes place after the first blob ending. In the hidden ending the boy INSIDE has been ejected from the blob, no longer directed by that goal structure he locates the machine keeping the first boy in LIMBO. By beating the second ending INSIDE you are beating the first game Limbo in the sense that you have finally gotten that boy of Limbo. The experimenters INSIDE are trying to create a form of conscious nesting, similar to the different dream layers in the movie Inception. That is my theory anyhow
Perhaps the game is a shout out/parallel to Dante's Inferno, as both has the main protagonist being dead and searching for a loved one (Dante with his fiancee and the boy with his sister), along with that they have to go through their own trials and tribulations to get there. Alternatively, the game could be about life in general and how one would have to get through and conquer their trials and tribulations to live.
Like your theory but imo ending is little different. I believe that they together had some kind (tree house maybe ) of accident, he died but is not certain of his sister faith( doh ). He goes trough limbo which represents his struggles, doubts, fears, maybe even sins in life in metaphoric way. At the end he is cleaned of his sin with bursting trough "glass" which symbolizes exiting limbo (or maybe he just ended one cycle). He founds himself at his death place in imo ghost form and finds his sister there who i believe is alive maybe visiting spot where accident happened. I believe that they were murdered. After their life ended, they both faced trials in Limbo that represented fears they had to overcome before reuniting with each other signifying the resolution of their struggles. The tree house they arrived at was a safe space from their childhood. They were then ready to accept their deaths, as illustrated by their dead bodies in Limbo.
So like they both have coma they can never wake up like they are in limbo? My theory is the boy fell of tree and then he wakes up that his in coma(like cant wake up) and he is finding his own girlfriend and at end he ends up hitting the window and he died with having coma and his ghost and enters real world and sees his girlfriend digging the grave at place he fell and then he realizes that he died and his ghost. And then after that his girlfriend feels that his boyfriend is behind her. You can also say that its her sister.

Here’s my theory... the boy and his sister live a terrible life together in an abusive house old... the tree house is a place of solitude for the both of them... the whole game was simply an exaggerated shadow depiction of his life and what led up to his death... swimming was a struggle spiders were his fear and older kids that bullied him was a problem he had to deal with... the spinning blades represented... cutting himself and the rain was a representation of depression also note what he was wearing... LONG SLEEVES obviously just because u wear long sleeves doesn’t automatically mean u cut but it fits together almost perfectly in this game... the background plays a bigger part in the game then most people give it credit for... in the factory chapter where the character is able to literally flip the world around, you can see in the background.. a bunch of windows as if ur an ant in a large house... revealing that the kid did indeed live a hard life at home... the brain controlling parasites represent his fear of being controlled... and it only makes sense that he DID die in a car accident and flew out the car windshield and landed an a forest next to the road... if he fell out of a tree house then why didn’t limbo make the child relive an exaggeration of dying there instead? It would only make sense that the tree house was there at the end because that was his and his sister place of solitude.... and the reason I think the boy died and not his sister is because at the end... his sister is literally in the light and his eyes are the only ones glowing... and earlier in the game before he got to her l, a brain control worm stopped him on his path to get to her and when he finally finds her again, she is still in the same place which leads me to believe that to his sister, only a few minutes passes but to him it was more like a few hours... now when he finds his place of comfort... his ghost or spirt is now haunting the tree house and his sister could sense it... go back to the end of the game and tell me that it doesn’t look like she is still alive... because I think she is... take a screenshot or something it just looks to much to me like a ghost and an alive human being

After glass breaking scene, there are three things that could have happened. 1. Boy escaped hell/Limbo, and entered reality or heaven. Girl in that scene is maybe his sister, or just normal human from that reality or heaven. 2. Boy still did not escape Limbo/hell, his final challenge is that girl, or maybe his sister. He needs to kill het to get out of Limbo/hell. Girl was waiting for him, to kill him, because girl wants to escape Limbo/hell too. And their task is to kill each other, and winner gets out. In this theory, they could kill each other, but if they are brother and sister, they will not kill each other, but they will be stuck in Limbo/hell for enternity. 3. Boy appears as a ghost or in human form behind girl, girl realizes he is there, boy is there. Boy escaped Limbo, but he broke unbreakleable glass, which is border between Limbo/hell and reality or heaven. Girl realized what he did. This was mine theory, there are 3 ending of mine theory. That explains why its only him who has eyes in the entire game. He enters Limbo through the spot at which the treehouse accident happened. Then he has to overcome his fears in order to reach his sister. Finally at the end of the game, he breaks through the pane of glass symbolising that his test in Limbo is over and that he can now meet his sister in the real world. Finally, in the real world, he meets his sister at the accident spot. But then, he isnt filled with joy. He takes slow cautious steps because his sister doesnt look like she was when she was alive. She doesnt have any eyes like he does( which means she is dead)
