Spice Up Your Melodies: Automated Sequence Switching with SEQ-3 in VCV Rack
Take your VCV Rack patches to the next level with automated sequence switching! This simple trick utilizes the SEQ-3's versatility and a few key modules to create dynamic and evolving melodies.
Here's the magic:
The Players:
SEQ-3: Our trusty melody sequencer, where you've crafted your masterpieces (3 unique sequences in this case).
4-1 Switch: The conductor of the show, responsible for selecting which sequence gets to shine.
LFO (Low-Frequency Oscillator): The silent maestro, sending rhythmic triggers to keep things interesting.
Step One: Prepare the Stage:
Create your 3 individual melodies within SEQ-3. Make sure they pack a punch!
Setting the Stage for Change:
Patch the CV (Control Voltage) output of your SEQ-3 to one of the inputs of the 4-1 Switch. This sends the melody data to the switch, waiting for its cue.
Introducing the Maestro:
Patch a Square wave output from your LFO to the clock input of the 4-1 Switch. The LFO's rhythmic pulses will become the conductor's baton.
Showtime!
As the LFO triggers fire, the 4-1 Switch gracefully cycles through its outputs. Each output is connected to a specific SEQ-3 sequence, so with each trigger, a new melody takes center stage!
The Result: A captivating melody performance where your pre-composed sequences seamlessly transition, adding depth and dynamism to your music.
