VCV RACK - FILTER IN SELF-OSCILLATING MODE
A filter, typically a low-pass or high-pass type, can be made to oscillate by pushing its resonance (or Q) parameter beyond a certain point. This creates a feedback loop where the filter's output is fed back into its input, causing it to generate a sustained tone.
1. Choose a Filter Module: Select a filter module with a resonance or Q parameter.
2. Increase Resonance: Gradually increase the resonance parameter until the filter starts to oscillate. You'll often hear a high-pitched tone.
3. Modulate the Filter: Once oscillating, you can modulate the filter's cutoff frequency with a voltage source like an LFO or an envelope to create interesting effects.
4. Experiment with Feedback: Some filters might have a feedback parameter. Experimenting with this can influence the character of the oscillation.
