    Thank you all for your comments. I have quit responding to cost requests because no one reads the answers that I've already written. So every few days I get the same question. The answer is that this building is probably not as cheap as people think. It's owned by my brother so I don't know the specifics but I believe it was around $200k+. But keep in mind that is has a house inside of it too. Another reason I don't want to answer cost requests is that its been over 5 years since this video was made and costs go up all the time. Everyone's building needs are different and companies charge different amounts. The bottom line is that you need to talk directly with a building manufacturer and a contractor. I'm sorry that I can't be more specific.

    This is so awesome. I've always wanted to do this. About 15-20 years ago there was an ad for metal buildings and something close to this size was like $25,000. Then a few years later I saw a guy built his house in his hangar and decorated the exterior to make it look like a normal house. Half the hangar was house and the other half was full of toys.

      I'll answer,...you're looking at around 200-250k for this building..Low ceilings(mistake) and with un-finished railings and,sprung for garage door openers!...He must NOT have kids!...50@125 at 16-18 ft on eves would have been ideal!...2 story on interior ...tool room,bathroom,office and huge man cave!...200k!

    Love your building, I have a 75' × 139' usable concrete pad that I plan building my toy storage & retirement home on, we have several vehicles that could be stored in this building, we hope to drive our coach in one door - park - and walk out of it into the living room, then when we decide to leave out in the motorhome, we walk straight back out into the coach and drive away, and yes on the concrete being a LARGE expense, and that part I already have

    Was really interested in using a steel building a couple years back for storage, a shop, and a house. It is now getting to the point where my dream might soon become a reality. I was just wondering if theres any chance we could maybe see another interior update. I would assume there have been a few changes in the last couple years. Im just curious how it all turned out. Love the building and congrats! Thanks!

    • @GodsCountry
      @GodsCountry  8 років тому

      Hey Andrew! Thanks for the comment. It's understandable that you would want an update. This building belongs to my brother and he lives there full time so I have to respect his privacy as far as videos are concerned. The building hasn't changed a whole lot since this video except that the living quarters are finished out. The platform above the living area has a railing on it now. The little room for the shop bathroom has been finished for a while. There is a workbench all along the corner of the shop where the windows are. My brother tries to keep the floor as open for use as possible inside. There is a continual stream of people who want to store things there and/or work on a project in it. It's interesting to see what new vehicles, trailers, and equipment randomly show up but it's also somewhat tiresome for my brother. Between the privacy issue and the lack of changes on the building, I probably won't be doing another update video. Sorry about that. The building is working exactly how my brother planned it and he's really enjoying it. I'd be happy to try to answer questions if you have any!

      Thanks Phillip! No update on the building or living quarters. It's my brothers building and he lives there full time. I don't want to invade his privacy by showing his living spaces.

      no worries great set up I plan on making one soon and by far this is the best I have seen as space goes. I am making the far end as a training facility for my two young sons.

    • @GodsCountry
      @GodsCountry  8 років тому

      +gearjunky73 Thanks for the comment. The 80x100 is without the overhangs. We'll consider a update video but honestly it looks pretty much the same except that the living quarters are done and theres stuff inside the building now.

      Dekar Briggs Thanks Dekar! No real updates on the building. We've just been using and enjoying it. Not much has changed. I do have a handful of videos on the building. Just want to make sure you've seen them. They're in my heavy equipment playlist.

    I noticed exterior light coming in when you were on top of the living area. I’m from Florida where hurricanes are common. Are these shelters hurricane proof and and difficult do you think it would be to keep it cool in the summers?

    • @GodsCountry
      @GodsCountry  6 років тому

      Those areas can and have been sealed up. If your building won't have overhangs, then you won't even have those holes in the siding. I don't know about metal building hurricane ratings. It would best to contact a metal building manufacturer with your questions.

    How high are the walls? I have an existing slab 84by87 and want to build a steel building on it. also what state are you in?

  • @dannym4919

    Nice building! I'm interested in building one...I know in a previous comment you said the building itself cost around $50k, but how much did you and your brother put into it minus the electric garage doors?..ie. concrete foundation, construction, interior framing, electricity?
    --Also, I know each state is different, but did you have to acquire building codes and zoning in order to construct this? I'm planning on a house with 5 acres or so and building a pre-fab farm/warehouse on the land and just wondering if it's usually required to get codes/zoning to do it or I could just go ahead and build it since it's "prefabricated".
    --Lastly, are the HPS lights of the building running on a different breaker than what the lights in the framed rooms will be on or they all use the same? Did you have to get codes for electricity? I know every location is different, but what was the approximate cost of installing the main HPS lights?
    Thank you sir! Sorry for the questions, but I'm still a clueless college grad in my early 20s looking to start a farm lol
