Thinking about upgrading from my wife's Asus-something and my S8 to this A50. Might be a bit bigger of phone than she cares for, but it's looking like a winner.
Great to see that samsung is slowly changing up their plan for their lower- mid range models first by dropping their awful J-series. A FHD+ super amoled and wide angle lens isn't something you'd expect for a $300 device.

I bought it its wonderful 🙂 Honestly it has all that you need for the third of the price for S10. Brightness exellent (I hold it on 40% and you can clearly see). Dolby atmos great option for headphones loud great sound and battery life woooooow 🙂 Smart choice 🙂

Did you know: you can record 4K in this phone but you need to install a third party app, like OpenCamera app but you need to do it manually in the settings❤️
yes you can also do it with the google pixel camera app. there are tutorials online, as you know :) its one point where samsung failed in this category with the A50.

Great video! But just a suggestion: when you're showing the camera maybe you could show more pics of locations (indoors with different lightings like yellow/white bulbs, etc) and same with the front camera. Maybe more selfies in different lightings, indoors and such as? Otherwise great work 👍
PrefiX it might not be completely useless but most apps are coded to only take advantage of a single core, so I don’t really know what app you’re talking about but most apps like social media apps, games and utilities often can’t take advantage of the other cores
No brainer for me. I don't game on my phone. For the price point I can't see a reason to pay double. Tfs. I'll be updating my current Samsung for this.

Here in the Philippines this has 6Gb of RAM and 128Gb of system memory, and it’s plenty fast enough. They also did an update to the camera and finger print sensor in May and it’s improved both quite a lot. Low light shots are much better now.
Great video Nick! I think this is a great mid ranger phone. Phones these days are getting so ridiculously expensive, it's nice to see a decent performer for a reasonable price.
I'm getting my mom and dad on my phone plan tomorrow and upgrading both their phones. I am upgrading and getting myself and my mother an iPhone 11, but my dad doesn't really use his phone for much other than watching UA-cam and for facebook, this is the one I was looking at for him, and I think I've made the right choice. :D

Nick, you're using the European variant which needs an adapter and lacs LTE service in the States. The South American variant is the one to get if you want to get LTE in the States and comes with a u.s type plug, no adopter necessary!
As of about a week ago from this post. The A50 is now sold from Samsung unlocked and you can trade in older phones. I now have on after waiting what felt like forever. Also, nice shots of Humboldt park, the 606, and other parts of Chicago.
The A50 is about as fast as a Snapdragon 820 single core and multicore wise Surely better than Average Great review as usual Nick P.S : its camera is decidedly Budget, Display, speed, Design feel so high end though.. Coming from an SE, very impressed except with the camera Hope they update it

Great presentation. Sure, I'm getting one soon. I like the big screen; it's kinda like the trademark of Samsung phones. Can't afford those high end phones, so this is the next best thing to buy.
The A50 is what I'm going to get next. I currently main the Galaxy S7, but I use a J3 Orbit for certain things. From the specs I've looked at the A50 is better than the S7 in almost every way. Crazy how the most powerful phone of 2016 is just slightly more powerful than the mid range phone of 2019. And when I say slightly I mean the hardware is just a tad bit better. The camera on the A50 is better, the charging is better, and pretty much everything elses besides the processor, and display resolution is better on the A50. Can't wait to go from a 5.1 inch display to a 6.4 inch screen. The camera is also a big thing I'm excited for.

Yeah. I got a j8 less then a year ago. Already its microphone doesnt work. I think they have stopped making j series.

Multicore scores are pretty much useless in phones as you often use an app at a time, you should focus on single core performance
