i've just been on a marathon of watching reactions to this semi-final from all over the world and all kinds of sports/non-sports related commentators. and one thing is really striking and astonishingly unfair is: it's mostly about brazil losing and not about germany winning, as if the victory is minor and nothing mentionable. i mean, i understand that it was a devastating defeat, but mostly people just talk about how crushing and sad it must have been for the brazilian team. germany won fair and square and with a great performance. they weren't over-hyped or trying to humiliate or screaming out their patriotism. they were organized, playing exceptionally well as a team and staying calm, almost ridiculously calm. they were trying to comfort the losers afterwards and although of course proud and happy didn't make a big show of it. that was certainly partly out of respect for the host but also because they are grown up people with a brain. i'm not saying anything against the brazilian team or the analisys why and how the defeat happened. but i wish people would acknowledge that this was actually a stunning victory as well.
It's mostly about Brazil losing and not Germany winning, you say. That's because Brazil being so completely and utterly destroyed with such embarrassing ease IS the story. No one's denying Germany were excellent but they took full advantage of a monumental disgrace of a Brazil team, especially defensively. Look at Germany's other results, bar the opening game against Portugal as well. Drew 2-2 with Ghana (behind in that match too), beat a very average USA side 1-0, scraped a 2-1 win vs Algeria in extra time, only beat France 1-0 and again only beat Argentina 1-0 late on with a piece of individual brilliance from Götze. They were hardly hammering every team they were facing, more often than not they were beating teams by a single goal.
@@ashleythomas4112 No team is ever brilliant in every single game. Italy for example became world champion in 2006 and they had played horrible throughout the entire tournament. It is not about being brilliant all the time but you have to constantly score more goals in every game than your opponent does. That will get you there. There are teams who play destructive and put everything on defense. Those are very boring games to watch. No one can complain that Germany was not playing very attractive football. They deserved to win much more than any other team.
I think what we learned here is not that the Germans are efficient and ruthless (thats nothing new). I think its time to talk about the speed, flair and passion with which this new German team plays. We already saw it in SA four years ago and I think its safe to say that Germany plays attractive, skillful and beautiful football. The left foot of Kroos in his first goal was sublime, their passing a joy to watch, Schürrle's second goal could have been scored by any great Brazilian striker of yesteryear.
as some comments already stated below, here a few cents from myself: germany's football is a "machine", perfectly intact, perfectly trained, strategically on its highest. every single player is studied from a to z, his abilities, advantages and disadvantages and perfectly put into the team, the "machine". from that perspective every player can perform genius activities on the field, because the team has all of that stated above as a rock hard backbone. that is football in it's finest. team brazil on the other hand seemed pretty random for me. good players yes... but no backbone to support them. sometimes it can work out, sometimes not. most probably not if you play against such strong team as germany.
The Brazilian attitude was pathetic going into this game, making Neymar out to be some sort of martyr, and trying to get some emotional voodoo from their fans by claiming there's some sort of conspiracy against them. When it came down to playing football, it wasn't Neymar or Luiz, it was their lack of basic soccer knowledge that gave them a deserved loss. It's soccer people! It's not a soap opera drama!
I disagree with the analyses. Yes, the Germans worked as a team, had better communication and tactical discipline. However, they also had the better players. It is a stereoptype the Germans were "very German". No, they were more Brazilian then the Brazilians, while Brazil played like Germany in their worst matches in the late 90's. Forget about the fighting and sliding Germans who only wait for the penalties. The blind passing and the volley by Schürle was one of the best goals inthe tournament. I do not see m,any Brazilian players would make it to the Bunesliga.
Well, the Brazilians'conundrum was that, instinctively, they knew the weren't good, but mentally, they wanted to be champions. After loosing the first goal because of poor defending, they all looked upset and bewildered... A good team which has enough self-confidence, would not betray such emotions, because it knows that it has some 80 minutes to win the game. These Brazilians didn't believe they could score a goal against Germany, but keep attacking nonetheless, they simply didn't know what to do, let alone defend.
#2 is wrong. Germany after halftime actually took their foot off the gas big time. Brazil was just that bad, so how can they not take those easy goals afterwards? This could've been 10-0 easily
+purple haze I think we can say the we win the trophy every 20 years. The difference of 16 years between '74 and '90 is equalled by the 24 year difference between '90 and 2014. Can't wait for the world cup in 2034 :D btw: I like your user name ;)
thanks phoenix I belive Germany will win the euro cup 2016 and I belive Germany will make it to the top 4 of the world cup 2018 they have a very strong team. and no one should count them out in the next decade world cups as runner ups! whether you love them or hate them Germany is a soccer nation and always come back!
purple haze Well thanks for the support. i also put a lot of hope in the team but i am a bit more pessimistic for the next WC. For the world cup winner the world cup after has always been cursed...
yes phoenix you have every right to be pessimistic history is not on Germany's side. 1954-germany 1958-brazil 1974-germany 1978-argentina 1990-germany 1994-brazi notice whenever Germany wins a world cup the following world cup a south American team wins it. it could be the south americans time again!
The result was also the highest result in a world cup semi final. The next highest wasresult was scored in the semifinal 1954 were germany won 6:1 against austria.
Vincente Del Bosque is the real winner from this situation. This tournament won't now be remembered for his defending champions limping out without so much as a whimper...
I don't know any german... who don't feel with the brazilian fans at this moment..... we had so much terrible experiance in the past.... BUT NOT THIS YEAR so we think about that: Germany - World Cup 2014 Champions ● Road to Brazil ᴴᴰ
ALEX ISHII even with neymar and silva...the germans maybe won 5-1......and they had to play thw whole tournament without reuss...maybe the best german player at this time
+ALEX ISHII Yeah, a year late and stuff. Anyways: another ref couldn't cure Neymar either. And Silvas yellow was well deserved for that stupid stunt he took on the keeper.
FriedrichHerschel ...And I know it very well both of them playing not well in Copa America. But I'm eating Fried potato in your place knowing German team players still has respect of dream Brazil Joga bonito to be 2014 WC champion.
ALEX ISHII I've checked. You're not in my place eating my food. ;-) My point is: don't blame the ref. What could he have done to prevent Neymars injury? Giving more yellow cards in the first place, so that the game didn't get so rough? You were complaining about the obvious yellow against Silva, so giving more wouldn't had pleased you, either.
Not watched much of this world cup but was impressed by Thiago Silva, especially the way he shouted at his fellow players for the stupid mistakes they kept making. Glad he was not tarred by this horror show. How much of this German success comes from Klinsman's work?
+Lennie Lenford Klinsman's best idea was Jogi Löw. Klinsman himself was only an average player, not more. But he has made one superb match at the WC 1990 vs The Netherlands.
Silva was clearly a huge loss. Luiz and Marcello kept attacking and trying to assist; if Silva was playing he would've kept the discipline. Anyone who thinks Argentina will beat Germany are deluded. Messi, like the previous world cup, has been pretty disappointing. They also had the easiest fixture in the whole tournament. Argentina predictably kept crossing the ball against the Dutch, they'll have to take risks if they want to win. If they put up a good show against Germany, awesome. If they win I'll be amazed because I think any team would be terrified facing Germany right now and ultimately lose.
I'm not so sure of victory of Germany against Argentine. Messy has been disappointing sure but he still has the skills and he still manages to occupy at least two defenders. Germany lacks players at the talent level of Argentina but instead they have superb organization and teamwork. But talents like Messi can overload that. Basically, it can go either way. In overall, I would give Argentina the edge since against the Dutch they proved that they can present solid and cautious defense.
GurgleGurgleBlahBlah there are only three players with skills in the argentine team. messi, mascherano, di maria..thats it. now compair it with germany. neuer, schweinsteiger, lahm, kroos, özil, götze, müller..should i go on with that ?? of course messi's talents are unreachable for germany, but he is just 1 player and germany is master in playing against teams with players like this talent. like portugal with figo or now with ronaldo. argentine with messi or 1990 with maradonna.
I don't think Germany will win the cup, yes this win was very impressive, but last world cup they also beat argentina 4-0 and then lost to spain. So this win doesn't mean they'll win the next game. It gives them plenty of confidence, ofcourse, but they still have to play the final.
Joshua Cubillo germans like me know that the final against argentina is difficult.... but the german team is a long time since 2006 together and they have so much experiance in close situations... also many loses.... BUT NOT THIS YEAR
I'm Brazilian (but im supporting Argentina). The game was ridiculous. My only consolation is that Scolari now is dead. He is going to be remembered as the WORSE manager in BraSil. Good title to him. Scolari is a Mussolini fan and supported the dictadure in Brasil.
possumGFX hi, I imagine u saw the protests against the world cup. I might believe u heard that Scolari is a son of bit 43 for his support to Brazilian dictadure and his passion for Mussolini.

The Germans are a TEAM not a bunch of individuals simple as that and that goes for all grades of football.
when Germany lost to Brazil in 2002 world cup the Germans never mention the absence of ballack as an excuse but rather accept defeat.
👏👏👏👏👏

yes,too much drama,bit Soccer
+Hamman Samuel Neymar and T Silva will change the game!
Players don't win world cups, teams do, as Germany proved
Hamman Samuel Players are the teams
And Brazil has only 2 good players?
Ghosts of 54 ?
Did he mean 50 ?
54 was a good year for Germany after all :-)
Just learn that u shouldnt under estimate germany
And that germany is the best team

The Basilian Team had no defense. The germans realised that early and shot one goal after another

German team is a machine, fueled and oiled by the tears, sweat and blood of their opponents.
#2 is wrong. Germany after halftime actually took their foot off the gas big time. Brazil was just that bad, so how can they not take those easy goals afterwards? This could've been 10-0 easily
you forgot about klose becomming wm goal score record master while the one before him is moderating xD
germany is the best team in the world. forever
lol 2 goals from kroos in 69 seconds
The brasilian player talked about winning and we did it ;)
lesson 6: never get between the dog and the bone ;-)
Proper shambles from Brazil. Credit to Germany for the most abrubt wake up call.
yeah...don´t call yourself winner until you won ;)
lets face it 2014 was Germany's year like 1954,1974,1990 and finally 2014 saw a strong talented german team come together and won their 4th world cup!
+purple haze I think we can say the we win the trophy every 20 years. The difference of 16 years between '74 and '90 is equalled by the 24 year difference between '90 and 2014. Can't wait for the world cup in 2034 :D

even worse:
most world cup winners didn't even reach the K.O. round in the next one...
2:37 Even though I knew you were talking about David Luiz, I fully expected the punchline of that bit to be "he's done a Steven Gerrard"
Yawn
what a game
2:22 His name is Toni Kroos, not Kross.
The music is disturbing.
My favourite game of all time
The result was also the highest result in a world cup semi final.

players Brazil might've missed? Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Lucio, Cafu...

We saw a shade of this when the USA went up 2-0 going into halftime in the Confederations Cup. USA squad just wasn't ready for the spotlight yet.
Sorry for the rest of the world: Germany for ever ;-).
I always said Silva would be the bigger loss, but most people seemed to believe Neymar was more important. Pretty sure I was proved correct
Its Kroos..not Kross :P
Have you ever heard any English speaking person who could pronounce foreign names properly?
It always sounds ----- English
football is my game The english have clearly gotten better in pronouncing meanwhile. :)
2:31 you spelt his name wrong.
The biggest reason: That Spanish referee Carlos Velasco Carballo of Brazil vs Colombia match, a nightmare creator.

they couldve let the legend played..insted of letting these young players
