PROPER BADMINTON DOUBLES POSITIONING- How to rotate with your partner to effectively cover the court

- When you play doubles, you need to learn how to rotate with your partner properly to have a good game. In this video, Coach Kennie shows you how to position yourselves, so that you always effectively cover your side of the court.
If you play doubles, it’s important to know how to do rotation with your partner. Even if you’re both strong players, you could still lose the game if you don’t focus on your positioning.
Moving on the court well is so important in doubles, because it’s a team effort. If you learn proper rotation, it will be harder for your opponent to find a weak spot and your partnership will become more solid.
Positioning well is key if you want to win those doubles games.
I am 54 right now and I started Badminton a month ago. I learned many tricks from my subscription and I want to thank you Mrs Asunçion .The Team want me playing competitions ,I am happy.
Thanks for sharing and happy to know that! It’s never too late to start badminton… enjoy!!😁🏸
Yeah..... This is the video that I had been waiting for. Excellent video. Thank you so much dear coach... Eagerly awaiting your next video for doubles
Thank you very much. I know you’ve been waiting for this 😉 ... glad you enjoyed it... 😁🏸😁🏸
BEST VID for this topic (Ive watched 5 others Paulstewart BG academy Badmintn Insight etc.)
Thank you very much! 😁🏸
One for the best video I find on positioning of doubles player. Great work. Thanks
Thank you! 😁🏸
Thank you coach Kennie for your helpful tips. One thing I'd like to know is what to do if your opponent is very good in defence, especially in taking a smash
The variety of your shots is key. If your opponent cannot tell when you will smash or drop or lob then that would be harder for him/her😁🏸
We are watching this video for a college badminton class. Our tournament is currently going on. The hardest thing for me is hitting shots that come directly at the chest very fast.
Try to position your racket along the chest area to better and return them faster😁🏸
@@CoachKennieAsuncion7
That part is very difficult, I'm an ametuer but the counter I use is bending my body to the side while the racket hits the shuttle, it works mostly
@@CoachKennieAsuncionyeah with backhand grip
Thanks coach your video is really good to watch and learn especially for those who like to play singles but occasionally they play doubles. They are not familiar with positioning of doubles so they leave large open spaces.
You are very welcome! Glad you find my video useful! 😁🏸

You should invite Vic to be your guest host, or maybe guest demo player. Then teach us some of your killer XD techniques when you were playing with him on your prime 😊
I'm leaning more into mix doubles nowadays and was inspired by your combo with Kennevic 😍
Awww thanks Victor!! Unfortunately, Vic is already based in the u.s. and he visits once or twice a year but will definitely make a video specifically discussing mixed doubles positioning and strategies. I’m glad you are enjoying mixed doubles... 😁🏸😁🏸 Hopefully when Vic visits I will get him to share his thoughts on the game!! 😁😁

Hi coach, many thanks for this video . I have been eagerly waiting for this. Thanks for the all the tips and information. I belive it is crucial to understand positioning in doubles if you really want to enjoy badminton competitively if it's a recreational level. This will be a video I will be watching several times and the one to come back to for reference. Much appreciated.
Thank you very much D K! I’m glad you enjoyed it... in the coming weeks we have the doubles strategy lined up as well so that would interesting to watch as well. Thank you for your support!! Appreciate it! 😁🏸😁🏸
@@CoachKennieAsuncion I will look forward to it.
Hi Coach Kennie, Can you made a video about man positioning and strategy in the mix double? Please emphasis on when the man is serving and when man is receiving will be great. I seems to never get it right (clueless of what to do) when i receiving a serve. I generally tried to drop to the lady opponent (generally the weak one) and anticipate of what the opponent (she) is going to do. But it always seems that my anticipation is wrong and i ended up returning the weak shot, which gives away the opponent (man) to attack the open spot or my weak partner. Thank you!
Yes will definitely discuss that for the mixed doubles strategy & positioning. I am excited for this coz’ its a favorite of mine... I will give you tips on where to place it especially from recieving a serve. As for your anticipation, if you feel you always get it wrong then take the opposite of it, if you feel like waiting for a straight try and opt for the opposite side so wait for cross (its kinda playing with your own mind to change). It’s good you are trying to anticipate it, don’t get frustrated & keep trying... i believe you will get it!! Hopefully, we can get to this topic sooner. 😁🏸😁🏸
Nice coaching
Thank you 😁😁🏸

Coach plz tell me can i do wall practice with shuttle with tennis racket will it favour me more on the court
You can do that to strengthen your wrist and arm, just dont do it too long .. 5 to 10 min is a lot already start with the heavy tennis racket then switch back to regular racket to end your walling drill! You can also use the tennis racket to do badminton swinging movement... Stay safe & healthy! 😁🏸
But what do you do when your pair is short 🤔?
Hlo coach ...I hope this lesson wud add a lot to my skill in doubles...thnx
Eagerly waiting to apply it in game..once lockdown in india is over..
I hope it helps your game when the lockdown is over. Stay healthy & safe!!😁🏸

Thank u vmuch!! 😁🏸
Hello Coach! Your videos really helped me alot! But I have a question, is it fine to substitute a player mid game?
Very informative mam.
Please show some of the shots in slow motion.
Hi Coach, can you please make a video on doubles rotation footwork
Practice your footwork individually first so that it becomes very natural that you don’t think of the footwork and it becomes instinctive then when you get to doubles you dont have to think of the footwork but focus more on your strategy and rotation with any partner. Thanks! 😁🏸😁🏸
Short & sharp
Very helpful
Hi Coach! What steps would you say I should focus on to go from a beginner to intermediate to advanced. Would love to know if I should be focusing on a specific area first like movement etc. Or work on everything etc
Love the videos!
Thank you!!😁🏸 Make sure you have the right grip and footwork bec that is your base. A good base is more for long term use so start with those and improve speed on those then slowly work your way to the strokes and all! 😁🏸
Hi Coach, can we slice or spin the shuttle while serving?. Please clarify..
Yes you can slice the serve but to make the serve spin is hard but not impossible... it will require a lot of practice time though! 😁🏸😁🏸
Coach stay safe from corona.
Thank you Suvam Gairola! The videos you guys see have been pre-shot! (Thank goodness, we did a lot of videos & will just be editing it while my family & I are at home) ... you stay safe and healthy as well!! 😁🏸

What would be a good home workout?
Strengthening would be good at home such as squats, if you have light dumbells that could be useful too. Focus on staying fit and more on the physical aspect since we cannot be on court. Tc, stay healthy & get stronger while at home!! 😁🏸🏸
Thank you❤
Hi! Kenny , I'm Nikhil from India, can you make a video regarding the technical and mental analysis of Lin Dan so that we viewers will get the proper education over the game ?
Hi Nikhil! I’ll see what I can do with your request. But for now there’s a lot of editing to do with the pre shot videos before the lockdown... thank you for your request... 😁🏸😁🏸
@@CoachKennieAsuncion Like , any random video of Lin Dan which has 1080 p quality, any of your thoughts as a coach of a player like Lin Dan.
@@CoachKennieAsuncion How's everyone in Philippines there?
@@CoachKennieAsuncion If you give me your mail then I'll send you the link of Lin Dan video and on that video may be you can make some analysis video if possible?
Thanks for asking me and my family are good but people getting infected with the virus is growing by the day. I personally love lin dan’s style of game play. He is like a robot in terms of precision and the strategy and strong smashes nail it all. I would love to look at the video but i’m kinda busy working from home. So many things to do both at home and for work... so that might take awhile for me to do... 😁🏸
Can I know how much time we should practice to learn footwork?
It really depends... sort of like case to case basis... depending on how fast you learn it and that can vary from player to player... 😁🏸😁🏸
Maam kennie good morning. Baka po pwede kayo mag upload ng training design maam
Very nice mam 👍✌
Thank you Neelam Singh😁🏸😁🏸
Hai coach....,i already request u to make a video abt rotator cuff muscle injury fixation..and u agree that. No problem take your own time,Now i comment to remain u..
Hi Rakhesh it’s gonna take awhile before we can do that. Hope you can patiently wait for it. How’s the situation in your place... we’ve been in 2 weeks lockdown already and 2 more weeks to go. Hopefully all turns out well... stay healthy! 😁🏸
@@CoachKennieAsuncion sorry coach...for my comment in this situation. i just comment instead of saying 'hello'...just take it in that way...
When i wrote the first comment, my mind told me to ask u about covid19..then i drop it....am very much glad that u enquire about my
health. Here in India, we are also in 21 days lockdown, today is the 7th day.we are defending, especially my state Kerala but the crucial time is ahead...by god's grace until nw we( me and my family) are ok.
What about u mam...? Hope u are all well..convey my reguards to ur family and students.
Only sad thing is can't play for some days because of lock down😭😭😭
Don’t worry about it Rakhesh, I understand. Sometimes our minds think faster than us texting it. No problem! Glad to know you and your family are all well. Me and my family are good too. We have been on lockdown for 2 weeks and another 2 more weeks to go so taking it one day at a time and finding things to clean and fix at home and ofcourse getting exercise daily. I do hope and pray that this will all be over soon for the entire world... let’s just hang in here, stay positive and this will be over soon! 😁🏸
@@CoachKennieAsuncion Thanks a lot coach for ur 'care and support' as like to ur 'child or student'....as u said, covid will vanish from the world soon. Tomorrow on words i will do exercise as u said, actually thinking abt it, bcoz now a days i am a little bit foody(lock down period, full time at home)😜😜😜🍗🥞🍕🥘🍲🥗🍜🍛🍚🍳🍔🍟
Oh Rakhesh, i completely understand you!!! I love food too!! 😋😋So we really have to exercise and be careful to stay in good health😁🏸
My left hand is not strong. How can, I strong at that part. When someone serve towards my left hand. It difficult for me to take the serve. Please suggest.
You mean you have a hard time hitting backhand shots. If that’s the case try to favor your racket more to the left guarding your weak point but ofcourse nothing beats practice of backhand on court. You can have someone feed that spot to you and you just practice the timing and strength. 😁🏸
Thanks
You’re very welcome!! 😁🏸
What is the best play for womens doubles if you have a weak partner ?
Encouraging ur partner to work on her weak spots and helping her by telling her what to watch out if u see ur opponents giving it a lot to her and specifically where. It is important that our partners dont feel like we’re blaming them otherwise their games worsens. 😁🏸
Coach....Is this the same positioning in mixed doubles also ?
Mixed doubles is different. Don’t worry i will be putting a video out on mixed doubles... watchout for it!! 😁🏸😁🏸
Hi coach, is there any violation on the positioning when ur plying doubles when either u or ur partner is on service?
As long as the server is within his/her box is ok and partner of the server can position behind or beside the server is ok😁🏸
I improve May game looking your vedio
Thanks coaching me
Thank you too!! 😁😁🏸
So whenever I play a jump smash at the rear court. They usually play a flat on the towards the opposite side. It usually lands midcourt and can't get to the shuttle quick enough. Should my partner get it instead or is it because my smash is incorrectly placed or not steep enough or all the three
I'm unable to hit the suttle by jumping ,any tips??
You just need to work on the timing... you’ll get it with more practice😁🏸
How does this strategy change for mixed doubles?
Watchout for the mixed doubles strategy... hopefully my team and i can edit it sooner!! 😁🏸
thankyou❤
You’re welcome😁🏸
I find it difficult to foresee where opponent will place the shuttle after serve..if im standing behind my partner when she is doing the serve
After some time during the game you may see a pattern on the return of opponents so anticipate it there. Another way is to stand one step to your left if she is serving from the right and vice versa. See if that helps😁🏸
How to make your movement more quick and faster in all aspects
Training for it is key and ofcourse playing with different types of players and occassionally joining tournaments. Experience from different games is a great way to practice speeding up your movements... 😁🏸
..hi kennie🥰 i used to be a badminton player also ...
Hi Gee! That’s nice to know. Why do you say used to? You don’t play anymore? 😁🏸
@@CoachKennieAsuncion opo hnd na po since nagkaroon ng own family...pero namimiss q n po mglaro ulit😊 regards po ky Kennevic🥰
Salamat! Based na sa u.s. si Kennevic & coaching there pero will tell him. Ah kaya ka nag stop, pero yun talaga ang mahirap pagbalance ng family life pero sana pagkatapos ng lockdown makahanap ka ng time to play kahit isang oras lang... yan na “me time” mo. Afterall you deserve some exercise and break😁🏸
I have 1 question? My question is service time 2players can stay in one cod.
You wont be standing on one side of the court but the back player can have 1 leg on the same court sa the server only to be in a neutral/middle position of the court. 😁🏸
Can you explain the law of badminton for me?, especially is double for me???
Will do that in another video. Thank you for your request. 😁🏸

Ideally ganun pero may partnerships na pag alanganin konting mine or yours lang alam na sino papalo… 😁🏸
at 2:50, it should be a "lift" instead of a "clear"
It can be a lift it can be a clear maybe i was pointing from the movement in front that is why its better to say to lift but i was also referring to a clear as well, so anytime u clear from the back or lift from the front. Point is when we give it high to the back to our opponents as to how we will position but thank u for your comment😁🏸
