Have to say I was a little disappointed when I saw PDJ was this weeks guest as I have never been a big fan. However, after watching I have changed my mind he is clearly a funny, articulate and intelligent individual. Having the whereabouts and the stones to represent himself in court and to get an outcome that will be beneficial for his daughter takes courage. Top show, keep it coming and hopefully this will extend past the World Cup.

How remarkable was that episode? In the beginning funny as usual, the English national trait seems to be a good sense of humour (I'm Irish). Then the plot twist, a dark time of life, common among too many men, is presented politely with almost opaque restraint while Haskell stares at his belly and is silent. Wit & flair, despair and the brave face. That is rugby! I think you guys should pitch that episode as a film.
I'm Welsh, watching every week from S.Island NZ. I Love the show,it brightens my day big time. Just remember Wales are doing their talking on the pitch. Grand slam champs coming up.
Alex is the kind of person I'd love to have a chat with about all things rugby. Soooo much knowledge and a genuine interest in everything he's doing. Love it all
I think this was my favourite one yet........funny at beginning and then very insightful. Brilliant seeing best mates together. Would love to hear more.
Highlight of the week for me. As someone who has been thro similar in the family courts, it was refreshing to hear Paul talk so sincerely about his experiences. Keep up the great work guys
My dad runs a mental health football session and he met Sam Warburton on a charity golf day and told him exactly what Hask said “rugby doesn’t do enough for mental health”. He was in complete agreement and it’s nice to see that these guys are too! More support is needed in rugby, as well as all sports for that matter!
I love this episode. The lack of rugby is a misconception - we get an insight into rugby life and rugby mindset behind the stats and nausing. I went through what Paul describes so well; being viewed as public enemy number one for being a man in the family court just for trying to keep my son in my life and get fair access. You’re judged as being an unnecessary burden to the poor mother who is all a child really needs. And this from a middle-aged male judge. Thanks Paul for being so open and putting this back in the public domain, one day it will change.
Best one so far and as a father who is having issues seeing his child I can say it is amazing and humbling to hear Paul talk about his issues honest and heartbreaking in equal measure.
Yet another brilliant episode. Even more so when PDJ talked about clearly emotive and sensitive subjects. There is some excellent stories in there too, would love to see an autobiography
Can't help but feel that Paul doesn't do himself any favours with the fighting on-pitch as recently as a week ago. Whilst no legal expert, a lawyer playing that to a judge without experience of the 'play hard shake hands after' attitude in rugby may see that as testament to his character. That being said his commitment to fatherhood sounds sincere, refreshing to hear as someone who works with fatherless young adults.
I love this show as firstly a huge rugby fan, secondly as a female rugby player but lastly because obviously us ruggers love a bit of a pint and banter but this week's show was a great insight to what some men have to go through, equality should be just that! Thank you Paul for sharing with us. 😊
I've just watched this episode and Paul's story really resonated with me as I went through a similar issue with children access post relationship breakdown. Whilst trying to pin down a professional career , I was a serviceman at the time. Massive respect to you Paul. Hask,Alex and Mike I'm loving this show! Yes I'm catching up on 2019 episodes that I've missed! Think I've been living in a cave somewhere 🤦♂️
Outstanding episode lads, really enjoyed Paul’s story and was very moved by his stance regarding the court system and the importance of two parent relationships with their children. Awesome.
I think this is one of the best chat shows on the media landscape right now ....great entertainment great guys that you would be happy to share a beer with
Really fascinating. On the face of it, PDJ seems to have it all (rich family, intelligent, athletic ability, represented his country etc) however just shows how much deeper things go, and how the surface can often be deceiving.
Guys this was a truly brilliant episode. HoR is going from strength to strength and is finding a unique spot in a world getting saturated with rugby nause podcasts. Please continue to focus on off the field chat and coffee spitting humour. 🙌🏼
Really enjoy the show, Tindall and Haskell bring great chat. However, really enjoyed hearing P D-J open up. Really refreshing to hear that honesty and it demonstrates no matter what line of work you're in that it can be tough. With social media people only ever see the good times. Good work guys on highlighting it
This podcast is so much easier to listen to and watch than ‘The Rugby Podcast’ with Goode and Hamilton. Speaks volumes that i wish most episodes of this series were longer but struggle to sit through a 4 minute clip of the other.
This is fast becoming my favourite sports show. The mini interview by Alex with Paul was excellent, probably helped cos his mate is next to him. A really good show this week
Great episode and thanks to Paul for sharing some of the really personal stuff. I think it’s too easy for people to forget that sportspeople aren’t machines.
Dos speaking about the courts from a dads side is so so true I went through it in the early 2000’s and to hear that 10 years later it was just as bad was shocking. As a proud Welshman hawk and dos killed this podcast
Easily my favourite episode. Get Paul back on, what a guy! To be able to represent yourself in court says alot. The chat was pretty good as well, Hask creases me.
This is why I watch this show, amazing, keep up the amazing work and guiness! cheers from Portugal, waiting for the invitation to drink one with you guys
Another brilliant show. France, Wales and England(big margin) for the wins. Surprised we(Scotland) actually have enough players to send a team the way things have been going.
Fucking hell lads this was one good episode! Good for you Paul, really good for you man. You are spot on about the stats on knife crime and where these kids come from. Good for you that you fought against the shitty biased system. The UK courts are a disgrace, and yes, kids needs both parents. I’m open mouthed at how open you’re prepared to be about this. Seriously GOOD MAN! And well done to house of rugby in allowing this kind of material to air. Hats off lads, on (as Alex would say) every level. Abso fucking lootly other countries are light years ahead. France starts at 50/50 as well and there have to be seriously good reasons for that to change.
This has been an absolutely fascinating episode. Everyone must understand that Belonging is the feeling that is the foundation for Authenticity (being oneself) and Attachment (bonding with another) and managing the feeling of Belonging leads to Independence (mismanaging unfortunately leads to Dependence). Love is the behavior that comes from Authenticity and Attachment. I say this to lay the foundation of what is important to say: Children need to feel that they Belong to their parents or guardians in order to develop into Independent and Loving adults. Parents need to be with their kids and kids need to be with their parents. 50/50 is the place to start when parents aren’t able to reconcile their relationship (unless of course there is some kind of abuse), because both parents matter so incredibly much to children. When trauma such as death or abandonment of a parent or a divorce occurs to a child under 10, the risk for mental illness, depression increases tremendously. Thank you Paul for sharing your story, best of luck in your endeavors and much healing to you and your family. Connect with yourself again, take the time to find your Authentic Self!
Love house of rugby amazing people and banter, l always watch it and a lot of people at my rugby club watch it great show. James Haskell great bloke would love to meet him on day and this is coming from a wales fan as well. Alex Payne great bloke nice to see a different side of him as well and lm impressed with his great overall knowledge not just rugby knowledge. Mike Tindal great bloke love the crap he give hask makes me laugh, but nice to hear his experience of the game as well. Love the show keep up the great work ignore the haters they clearly dont understand the rugby culture.
Bit late to the party this week. Another great show chaps! PDJ was an absolute class act. Don't bother getting mabrice on get some real fans on!👍🏼 keep up the top work!
Fascinating show and as a new watcher I'm enjoying catching up on past episodes. Wouldn't mind a bit more rugby but it's entertaining each time anyway. Maybe next week with the 6N results (not sure how a Kiwi ends up more interested in the 6N than Super Rugby but I always enjoy a Welsh or English win).
This podcast gets a lot of attention, you'll probably see most of this clipped and put in the news as talking points about court and what not. House of rugby doing bits to raise awareness outchea!
Being Welsh I'm not supposed to like Hask & Dos, but they are comedy gold, and the fact that they managed to rip off the WRU for expenses is priceless...lol
I enjoyed this week's show, loved hearing funny stories, it's so relaxed it's like going for a pint with them. I live in Dublin and it can be expensive, but not compared to London. €300 a month salary sounds unlikely, it was probably per week. James' attempt at a leprechaun voice was a bit silly since Guy Easterby has an English accent (it's ok he wouldn't have known). His Welsh accent is very good though. Excited to see what happens in 6 Nations tomorrow..👍
Wanted to speak about Family court .Ive lost my daughters unjust however i gave up as no Support out there for Us Guys .Amazing Story full Respect to Mr Jones
Love how he brings Bruce and Paul Daniels into things. Hask those guys batted a mile above average. And you aren't doing too bad yourself as Brussow claims your a 5/6 out of 10
Absolutely amazing cracking set of lads and some really big touching stories credit to the PDJ for getting through that and a massive fan of hask! Plus for the second rows David grohl and Dwayne Johnson(has done a fair few musical numbers now so sneak him in)
What an episode, in stitches with the banter at the start :D. Interested to know if PDJ was at leinster when the likes of Cian culletan and healy were there? Also wonder if Ireland underage and Leinster had an impact on him as a player in regards to how he developed?
Boys, I'm glad I didn't run into Doran Jones in his fiery younger years - he sounds quite a handful. But have to say, your stories and chat are first rate...sat at my desk with tea spurting out my nose.
Speaking as a Welshman I LOVE House of Rugby Hask is a fucking legend and Tinds is the perfect foil for him and Alex loves winding Hask up it's comedy gold PLUS the rugby views are spot on and honest. Fuck the haters.
