This is my first ever video I actually put effort into so feedback would be great :D! edit: Man this has exploded much more than I ever thought it would, guess it's better to explain more things here than I have in the video and description. I think it's pretty clear I'm not an opinion-messiah if you find these games fun that's completely fine! Everybody is entitled to their opinion and isn't bound by something someone posted on the internet lmao. My main point I made here in this video is to stop feeding the mindset that bad games reward creators because if you have a community that just only focuses and likes games that had no effort or care put into it rather than actual effort is a horrible mindset that shouldn't be pandered to. I hope this clears up stuff and especially the sentiment that I've been seeing that makes it seem like you "NEED TO HATE ALL SOUL OPS FANGAMES!!!!!" because you really don't.
I think some parts needs to be speed up like you did at 14:17 But something like at 6:50 do need to be speed up or put how many are there, it’s feel unnecessary and a bit boring in my opinion. im a retired avenge ops dev and the game used to have better models, i got replaced cuz one of the devs made the game open source and was fired, so my models got stolen and i got replaced by some "modeler" that just used trashy freemodels and stole my designs for avenge fell and outer avenge extremely late edit: since this comment got alot of attraction, the avenge ops remaster is still wip and testers feedback is mostly "this game is a buggy mess" and "the only good thing about this game is the visuals",
As a beginner scripter the statement at 15:16 is so true I made a game with waves included that isn't loosely based off of undertale it just shares very similar gameplay with soul ops. It being based off of Roblox lore in order for it to be unique makes nobody notice or care. Yet these free model kits get 100 active players meanwhile mine gets 90 visits it just pisses me off see something so easy to make get 10x more traction then a solo passion project that took months and months make. However my game (Bux-Defenders) is nowhere near perfect its got a few bugs that rarely happen but are very hard to fix and the balancing is rather mediocre at best. Like most soul ops games my friends gave me the same criticism. "The waves are boring but the bosses are fun and interesting" . Without the waves the game would be getting carried simulator and that would make it so much worse.
i am truly sorry you had to suffer through all of this partially because of me at least it produced a good video though 🤪 also why tf does avenge ops even exist avengetale wasnt in the original game??? how did he even get popular i genuinely dont know at this point
A lot of these people are simply passionate about the game, and may have wanted to take a slightly different approach to the game genre. Additionally, these could be projects in order for a developer to progress in their programming journey. These games aren't flat out "horrible", as stating that would be subjective. Games that are loved and hated will exist, and I think it would be best to provide constructive criticism over complete hate to the game's creators. Though, that is my opinion. You will not have to agree with me.
If a second pin option existed this would be the second pin, I agree with a lot of what your saying and I think I'd better elaborate more about why I made this video. I feel like I could have been less harsh with what I said in this video, a lot of motivation that came to me for this video was how unfair I thought it was that devs making these quickly thrown together games were getting LOADS of money and much more attention than developers that actually work their heart out and make actual quality games. I shouldn't have let that bother me as much as it did so I do wish I was a lot less harsh sounding here in this video than I was. I didn't intend to send hate to the creators of these games when establishing this video but if that actually was a result of this video I really do feel bad about that. Yes! It's subjective whether someone thinks a game is good or bad, I hold nothing against anyone who enjoys these games however I do think that I could have been a lot more constructive than flat out making fun of the games shown in this video. I think for the future I should do a much better job explaining that and getting the point across. Lastly: It won't always be true that a dev is making a game to get better, some people choose to make games on Roblox studio's engine for the sake of making them because as everyone knows by now, the Roblox studio engine is not hard to use which is what makes free model games easy to throw together with 0 experience and some people do not desire to get better either but obviously that isn't everyone. The reason i play soul ops clones is because theres simply nothing left to do in the original. The game pretty much ends after you cap at tier 5, and by then youve already beaten error. The reason that all of the clones are boss rushes is because a majority of the community finds swarm gameplay to be tedious and annoying, the bosses being the main appeal of the game.
I feel like that's the disconnect for me since I think you can't have it both ways, I don't like games that only do bosses and I don't like games where the run time is taken up by waves either, it's hard to nail the middle for these things in my mind. I thought USSDG did a great job as a soul ops game but sadly the owner is obsessed with remaking his already good game. Another thing is that I don't really find the games themselves the problem it's just the profit margin these games get that become a problem because a lot of these games simply don't deserve the Robux they make, take the AgentDevilSans guy for example: he literally brags about his limiteds on his profile that he got by making a messy game that makes the Undertale community look bad. Obviously though everybody has a different perspective, I respect that.

I feel like I am getting Mandela Effected rn, I remember this one game that was similar to soul ops where instead of protecting souls you have to protect a frisk. You also have can't pick per se, an incredibly powerful character at the beginning you have to wait for the waves to pass by before you can use said powerful characters. It soul ops the multiverse Aus actually used to be very simple and mostly original, but more and more mods/builders. If you get to tier 100 you see why it has a option for asking... I have 20k tiers and am one of the OGs, I miss the old version...

one thing you got wrong. dusted soul ops was one of the best soul op games, it just got hacked by a hacker who then also hacked another good soul ops game.

I had a feeling someone would come in here with a sentiment like this at some point so I'll just address these now so I don't have to later: (1.) not sure what game you're referring to with the models either way it doesn't matter because each model in each game I reviewed here aren't that good, they're bad models. You don't need to be a modeler to know and not know a bad model when you see one. as for avenge ops? Models used in the thumbnail for badges and boss models are all free models that are stolen, I get the creator made the game as a joke but that doesn't mean everyone else takes it that way. (2.) You don't need to make a game to know what makes a game good or bad. Something you didn't seem to understand was that these games are made with a free model kit used for soul ops boss rush games, they were not created organically and were just a template to be added onto. Saying they aren't variants means nothing because these games, well.. are just copies. They use the same ideas from other games and recycle them, that is not a variant. example: flame eye dust is an event you see in almost all these games for some reason. (3.) Weird to think I'd be mad about a grammar error since I find it funny more than anything else, and these games aren't hard in anyway they're just poorly constructed to the point where difficulty is basically not even in the equation anymore it's just downright unfair, you're either too weak to do a dent so you take ages killing the boss or you're never going to get killed by the boss and you do tons of damage. The mindset that a game should make you take forever to go anywhere and then when you do finally get somewhere the bosses that once were a struggle are now the easiest thing ever is a really poor idea game design-wise. (4.) Well that's just easy to answer and doesn't take much thinking to find the answer for either. The people who make these games play it with people when it's newly released, they carry said people and those people who got carried start carrying other players and so on. This isn't hard to figure out, and if I might add, carrying has to be the least fun way to enjoy a game at all, of course people have gotten carried before me saying that doesn't tell you that: "you shouldn't EVER" because that's simply not what I was saying. Done and done.
I agree... BUT... i think the reason why soul ops fell off is because well it gets no updates anymore. while these new ones get updates reguarly or monthly.
I don't particularly think hyper LV 99 was HORRIBLE of an au character, I think it more ot less comes down to the fact that it gets so overused in so many games
Granted hyperdust isn't a great au either since it basically has no story, but it is a little interesting, just nothing really there, which isn't exactly horrible, just kinda there

as a develepor of map building and landscaping these maps look basic as heck like they are all just black and white without any effort they coudlve atleast added something relating to undertale instead of that doo doo fart
at least sans vs chara clones are better check undertale last corridor and news about final showdown , judgement day is a bad game in my opinion the reason is because you have only at least 40 fps most of the time and there's maps that are stupidly put to lag your game even the models suck but now they're mid and models in general would be good as long as devs doesn't add that trillion maps like judgement day remember good models don't equal = lower fps , it's a game needing a loading system like last corridor and final showdown will have one sooner or later.

Now I have been playing Soul ops before Firewall and hellspawn even existed, but GOLLY these fangames are AWFUL. I feel like no REAL effort was put into it. It's just all copy and paste with a bigger damage script being added onto to that different "Sans" Or "Papyrus". Whichever they choose. Either way, very great video at explaining how most fangames are just lazily made instead of just adding a TOUCH of effort to it.

I recommend you playing "totally balanced souls op boss rush" yes Just as the name says, its SOOOOO balanced and SOOOOOO well scripted It also has a bunch of secrets In my opinion, its actually a good fan game
Secret bosses are not that interesting and the normal bosses are just downgraded version of the actual SO variants that really just reuse code from eachother with minimal variation
well, EVERY soul ops fangame starts off with trash free models, but they all just copy EVERY ATTACK and EVERY BOSS and i want to create a soul ops fangame that is different but takes a week to make (NM will actually be harder than fucking Horror/Dust/Killer) Error won't have those stupid special hells or dio/gans/galaxy (where did he got dio and galaxy from??) Fatal won't have his glitched hitbox / void (ok) + won't have a flame eye or weak / fp lv 99 (idk my scripter wants to add enraged hyper lv 100) and ima try to add only 1 GAMEPASS because i don't want my game to be p2w

You should try Undertale: Deal with forgotten bosses This is game is pretty good, even though the models are kind of bad. This game has (mostly) no dialogue except for secret characters. The game does not update anymore :(

the game was made by farzin even tho foureal created the baseplate, farzin literally stole my models but i forgave him and i became friends with him
farzin did get kicked out of the dev team for no apparent reason besides him stealing scripts and models

For avenge ops the playerbase are probaly huge drugs addicts and the devs too

Yes! (2.) You don't need to make a game to know what makes a game good or bad. Something you didn't seem to understand was that these games are made with a free model kit used for soul ops boss rush games, they were not created organically and were just a template to be added onto. Saying they aren't variants means nothing because these games, well.. are just copies. They use the same ideas from other games and recycle them, that is not a variant. example: flame eye dust is an event you see in almost all these games for some reason.
(3.) Weird to think I'd be mad about a grammar error since I find it funny more than anything else, and these games aren't hard in anyway they're just poorly constructed to the point where difficulty is basically not even in the equation anymore it's just downright unfair, you're either too weak to do a dent so you take ages killing the boss or you're never going to get killed by the boss and you do tons of damage. The mindset that a game should make you take forever to go anywhere and then when you do finally get somewhere the bosses that once were a struggle are now the easiest thing ever is a really poor idea game design-wise.
(4.) Well that's just easy to answer and doesn't take much thinking to find the answer for either. The people who make these games play it with people when it's newly released, they carry said people and those people who got carried start carrying other players and so on. This isn't hard to figure out, and if I might add, carrying has to be the least fun way to enjoy a game at all, of course people have gotten carried before me saying that doesn't tell you that: "you shouldn't EVER" because that's simply not what I was saying.

at least sans vs chara clones are better check undertale last corridor and news about final showdown , judgement day is a bad game in my opinion the reason is because you have only at least 40 fps most of the time and there's maps that are stupidly put to lag your game even the models suck but now they're mid and models in general would be good as long as devs doesn't add that trillion maps like judgement day remember good models don't equal = lower fps , it's a game needing a loading system like last corridor and final showdown will have one sooner or later.

Now I have been playing Soul ops before Firewall and hellspawn even existed, but GOLLY these fangames are AWFUL. I feel like no REAL effort was put into it. It's just all copy and paste with a bigger damage script being added onto to that different "Sans" Or "Papyrus". Whichever they choose. Either way, very great video at explaining how most fangames are just lazily made instead of just adding a TOUCH of effort to it.

well, EVERY soul ops fangame starts off with trash free models, but they all just copy EVERY ATTACK and EVERY BOSS
