  • A clipper system dropped one to four inches of snowfall today in eastern ND and western MN. The backside brought stiff northwest winds that blew snow over I-29 causing multiple accidents as the pavement temperatures were perfect for refreezing and visibility was severely impaired. Video clips were filmed along I-29, from Gardner to Fargo, ND, and the last clip is on I-94 in Moorhead, MN.
    Shot Description
    1) North Dakota Department of Transportation plow pushing a jack knifed semi trailer that was blocking a lane of traffic on I-29 3 miles north of Argusville, ND.
    2) Chaotic scene in Fargo on I-29 as multiple tow trucks work to clear several distressed vehicles
    3) I-29 at Harwood, ND, very icy surfaces led to an accident and several vehicles trying to safely pass by
    4) The jack-knifed semi near Argusville, ND
    5) Another jack-knifed semi along I-29
    6) A pickup briefly loses control of his trailer, I-29 at Gardner, ND hitting pillow drifts along the roadway causing very low visibility
    7) NDDOT arrives on scene, a trailing plow blocked traffic as the forward plow moved the semi trailer seen in first clip
    8) Clip showing reduced visibility below overpasses
    9) Interstate 94 traffic in Moorhead, MN, blowing snow across very icy surface

Knowing how to drive in the snow, also means you need to know when NOT to go drive in the snow.
A person has to learn not only how to drive slow,,,but when to not drive at all.
Now I wanted to go places yesterday too...but I took one look at the weather and decided "Nope" and went back inside.
and that is why Im not in any of these storm videos with a smashed car.

Its not the act of plowing that cause slippery roads, its the people driving on the road compressing and polishing the snow into a nice slippery layer of ice.

And yet trucks still jackknife and go into the ditch in Canada. It's a good reminder that everyone needs to slow down in bad weather.

I love watching drifting snow, but certainly hate driving in it...there's going to be some huge drifts after this next big system.

The state plow truck just shoving the jack knifed semi trailer out the way says it all about winter 2023, up there with Buffalo's driving ban on all of 41 minutes notice.

It was a hazard to other drivers due to the low visibility. Ideally the truck should have been left as it was for insurance/recovery purposes, but it was an immediate hazard and could cause a chain reaction collision/pile-up.

With all the snow they get, why can't they learn to drive in it? But when Dallas gets solid ice they criticize those folks bruh

Ouch… first off, we do know how to drive, some people think they’re so important than everyone else and then you see them stuck in the ditch miles later… whenever that happens, just don’t help them… have them learn a lesson on why they’re not more important than everyone else. We end up making fun of Texas because we know their roads aren’t designed well enough for icy roads that they have to shut everything down

Technically it should be called Climate Change.... since all the hoople heads out there think Global Warming means it's getting hotter.

Is not LOCAL warming; its GLOBAL warming (global mean temp). Take a look at the temps here in NJ and NYC. So far, we have got 0.4" inch of snow here and only once in Feb 1 (just a dusting of snow). The rest of the month, the temps here have been in the 50s, even 60s, with few exceptions. While most of the USA is covered with snow, New Jersey and New York City have experienced spring-like weather all this season (with few exceptions).

@@3dplanet100you're speaking about localized zones... Global mean GLOBAL not zone specific. Actually if you pull records from the Danish Meteorological Institute, the Global IS NOT warming, it's cooling. The Tonga eruption alone has put millions of tons of excess water into the atmosphere & it's made its way to the northern hemisphere. The Jetstream has changed from a zonal flow to a meridional flow pulling extreme cold from Canada down in to the US & warm moist Gulf Air up from the coast which is why we're seeing the tornadic weather in Jan & Feb.

@@loloholmes2793 What I meant was that North Dakota (and all those states with frigid temps and snowy conditions) are not the only places on Earth. I just put an example that there are other parts in the world (and even here in the US) that are not that cold with temps above average. Of course, the fact that here are in the 50s and 60s is not because the earth is warming, lol😂 I personally believe in global warming because of evidence, such as the global average temps are a bit higher and the sea levels are rising, but not because here is mild.
