something stirs. thats what I always think when I listen to amon. especially deo, this is one of my favorite tracks from supermodified. tobin is def something to check out in this day and age of music. I had the pleasure of doin an interview with him at sxsw in austin tx for 101x. very modest, but his music speaks for him i think. what people probably dont know about this album is that amon wrote it vigioursly because of the upcoming y2k computer craze, which im sure you remember.
I like mokojono's interpretation of the car in the parking lot and fully support it. Putting this together the car was my starting point. It all starts with a car at rest, and from there things just get crazier.
Is this the sort of cycle of life .. Very abstract and complex. We start off .. Just daily stuff .. Rushing around too much .. All heading towards the End .. Not slowing down enough to appreciate all the things that matter to each of us .. Regardless of creed or colour .. Love .. Family friends .. Slow down take the time to enjoy it all .. Unless you are re-born you won't be here again .. Well that it was I felt it meant .. Probably way off track !! Thanks for your LOAD .. It's great . Love Tra
The car itself is in a full pause, while the rest of the video is a really high paced one. I believe the car depicts our short moments we take to think, well let's say.. like watching the A-Bomb go off makes us feel stuned and attuned to medidate about it for awhile, just to get right back to our always fast-forward life (interrupted by the so ever short moments of meditation).
At first I was suspicious that this was a time-lapse of my home city. But after swapping from the bridge into Nicollet Island to Hennepin ave. I was sure! Big ups from MPLS
I have much more experience with drawing individual characters than actually writing out a full length story and drawing a complete comic. Until recently, I never felt I was good enough. I used to draw in a very stereotypical manga-esque style when I was an early teen, but I'm moving towards a different art style now.
Very interesting music video. I really liked the subliminal imaging that was cut to the beat of the music and the effects like zooms that were also timed to audio effects. Excellent.
This song always sounds to me like the backtrack to if you were walking through a graveyard late at night. Couple that with Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, listening to either of them for the first time whilst high fucks with your mind epically. Paranoia never seemed so good. Peace.
Amon Tobin is no drummer, so can someone explain to me how he can make beats more complex, more organic, more intense than pretty much any drummer that I know?
I admit that... Even early in his career, Amon Tobin was a genius for beats (notwithstanding everything else)... "Bridge" from "Permutation" is also one my personal favorite.
He's just that good. He has a different sense of groove than anyone else I've heard and is one of the main reasons I got heavily into music production.
It sounds well.Recently I heard about him and took decision to find his albums.I like good experiments. And I heard he did music for film Taxidermia, where the music created great atmosphere for the story. ...btw interesting clip;)
This guy, James Holden and Mahavishnu Orchestra, gimme my solar-powered cd player and a couple of ganja plants and drop me off on my deserted tropical island!
Viellen danke jeden falls!

Interlectual, Abstract and Amazing in opening the mind to change your mood and thought. Pure Genius

Why blast from the past this hit me with straight nastolgia.
Waiting for Amon Tobin to make a comeback.
acid jazz, break beats, oriental & ethnic music & all this in his own blender.thats what it is!
I didnt think one artist would make such a large range of diffrent types of good music

The main sample (and probably title) comes from Deodato - Also Sprach Zarathustra about 40-50 seconds in.

Very interesting music video. I really liked the subliminal imaging that was cut to the beat of the music and the effects like zooms that were also timed to audio effects. Excellent.

He's an alien
zaran1 He's talented...Can't you admit that?...A genius doesn't have to justify himself...:)
He studied Jazz in a brasilian conservatory school. This might explain his technical skills (but obviously he is very talented artist)
It sounds well.Recently I heard about him and took decision to find his albums.I like good experiments. And I heard he did music for film Taxidermia, where the music created great atmosphere for the story.

Good call.

Is that footage from the Twin Cities?
does anyone know the drum beat he samples? I have no idea where or how to look for it!
i found the beats from second part: Louis Bellson, Shelly Manne, Willie Bobo and Paul Humphrey - 4 Aces
This is a great idea for a music video, but 240p? Come on now...
+Diogo Pereira ...Did you see the upload date?
C.S. Jones Good point. Maybe he can shoot another one in HD.
@Tomi852 yer
ajre - Why do you cuss this video? I thought it was quite good
if you like this please try. aphex twin
Someone's from Baltimore....lol
its better and more melodic ill admit
but i am entitled to my opinion, and your opinion certainly doesnt change anything either.
this kinda looks like north avenue bridge
Then why did you watch it nobody asked you
Ich wurde gern besseres musik dazu tun, aber ich bin nicht sicher das meine views wurde derselbe bleiben. Ich muerchte das es sehr populaer bleibt. Viellen danke jeden falls!
They are different artists to be sure, but even though I worship Tobin I'd have to say that Richard James is a more profound, important artist.
What's up with all the war images? Nuclear bombs and shit :)
I love IDM, but this is just not for me.
but this aint idm, this is amon tobin
Aphex is great but he sure as hell is no Amon Tobin.
nice but i dont think tobin is genius each has its ownt aste in music so thats a lame comment :P
the video doesnt even touch the depth of the song.
dont like this one...to aphex twin sounding and annoying
