    I bought this card opening day and as i originally purchased a Zotac Trinity black that had a defect i got mine for $1,069 American. Could not be happier. Best part is this card never really reached over 70 degrees at full load Cyberpunk 4k with Rt overdrive did though :). I am glad i bought this card its a winner in my book! Thx for the overview John enjoy!

    Hey!
    Great review, thank you!
    I got the same card one week ago. The temperatures were pretty similiar to yours (especially during 4K gaming, hotspot ~90C), so I decided to undervolt it a little. Changed to 900mV and 2550 MHZ in MSI Afterburner. No big difference in performance, but the temperatures dropped to 75-80 for hotspot.
    Personally, for me, it's not loud at all (even at stock), also got no coil whine. Overall, great card and very happy about the purchase!

    Great! :D THX, but only one small thing :) Fan noise testing. Please move your mic 30cm away and out of the airflow since it impacts noise a lot and also it is more realistic to have it 30cm away with s0 gain since it would simulate how we hear it when standing 1m away on the table or so. Doing it like this you are introducing vibrations, wind noise and also it is just too close! Your test should be mic > mouse click > GPU since that is where we are irl from our PCs :)

I have one of those for my living room PC and this will become a hand of me down when I upgrade it. For now the living room one has a 4070 TI super. Had I known this card would have fit I would have purchased it in the first place lol.

    No dual bios, connector faces downwards is awkward to work with. When I got that card I had high hopes, but after receiving and realizing that and also it is loud, not as quiet I hoped for. I end up getting Dual 4070Ti Super virtually the same performance but in even smaller formfactor. Strangely the Asus Dual 4070TiS runs cooler.

      Everything you said is correct about this card. If you wanted dual-bios or quieter, Asus has other GPUs that will do that. This is a very simplified card that works well for most. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. I have used Asus Dual cards in the past (3070) and it worked really well considering its size.

    What speed does the fan speed run at when gaming? Just so i can gauge how cool the 70ish degrees is.
    If its only 30% then bumping it up to 50% would presumably reduce temps a little bit more.
    Think my old 4070ti asus tuf ran at around 40% max fan speed and 65ish degrees

    • @JohnLCharette
      @JohnLCharette  6 місяців тому +1

      The fans spin at 66%'ish under the heaviest loads.. but that will depend on the game. Could you cool it more if you increased the fans even more.. absolutely... but it gets loud. Your TUF card has much better cooling capabilities due to the larger heatsink.

    • @JohnLCharette
      @JohnLCharette  6 місяців тому

      You're right. The driver set plays more into stability. If you run the Studio Ready drivers on your Asus Strix, it'll be more stable in applications. My point is that most people think it's a workstation card only, but it can be used like any other 4080 Super.

  • @JustinOhio

    I just ordered this on Amazon, I didn't realize it was made for creator content instead of gaming. My question to you is, will I need to do any special trickery to get the gaming drivers to work? I already have the nvidia control panel installed, currently using the 3080 on the drivers from the nvidia app. Will putting the new ProArt 4080 in just pick right up on the current drivers I have or will I need to somehow prevent it from trying to use the creator drivers? Will this mean anything else for gaming? Does it still use DLSS 3.5? Frame generation? etc?

    • @JohnLCharette
      @JohnLCharette  5 місяців тому +1

      No need to make any changes. If you're already using the Game Ready drivers, it should just pick up the card. You'll continue to get notified for new Game Ready drivers. You'd need to manually switch to the Studio drivers. I had no clue Studio drivers existed until a year ago. This card will work perfectly for gaming, no concerns. And yes, you still get all of the DLSS advantages. There's zero performance difference as it uses the same GPU core. Enjoy your new purchase!

Use the Game-Ready drivers if you're a gamer, use the Studio Ready drivers if you're a workstation user. I use the Studio Ready drivers because I'm a very light gamer, but know that when I do... I haven't had ANY issues using the Studio Ready drivers for games. Most of the time, the Game Ready drivers help with brand new games by fixing small bugs/issues.
