I fixed these all day long in the mid 80' through the 90's. My boss made me learn the timing of each and every make and model. He had a 4 year degree in applied science and was the most excellent mentor ever. I lost him in 2015.
It does seem that these Funai machines were underrated, and rarely had serious problems - just that when you could pick up these things for £40, brand new from the supermarket they became disposable. I always rated the Orion machines but these were OK too.
it doesn't eat the tape at all but when i put in the vhs it takes it then just stops and shuts down, please help haha you seem like you know what you're doing. i have the magnavox mvr440 and just wanted to watch me and my families home movies
@@norcal715 it sounds like the humming is coming from the inside where the lazer is at. And that same sound comes out of one of my dvd players but its much more lower on that player than on the recorder

The fact that acetone knows to only eat certain types of plastic is absolute proof of its magical properties. 🖖😁👍
When you have been around for over 400 years, you know who to be nice to. 😉😊

Great save Steve! Heeey, did I see a Sencore sg 165 way in the back? 👍
Yep! it is from the 80s. Still have it today.

when you moistened the cotton swab was it with rubbing alcohol or water (this was done when you cleaned the sensor)?
It was just regular household glass cleaner (Walmart brand)

I don't even think I know anyone who owns a VCR anymore!
do you know how to fix dvd recorder that when turned on makes really really load humming sound?
Is it like a motor running trying to load? Or is it though the speakers?

Another Funai-made VCR, which isn’t good.
They are really not that bad, all things considered.
