Thank you for sharing. When I was abandoned after I became pregnant my body seemed to be fine for months. I moved from Ohio to Texas, made a life for myself, and 5 months into the pregnancy my body just went through it. I don't deal with Lupus, but the pregnancy was draining me enough on its own. It was so tough, but the only thing that made it go by faster was to admit my body, heart, and soul needed the break. I couldn't stop working either, but my family helped with household chores and errands, took over the nesting I was going through. They were a god send. Lean on your family and friends. They love you and can help. Hugs and prayers

After my divorce I spent several months just “going.” I also have an autoimmune disease and also experienced the eventual crash. And it was a giant one. But I didn’t listen to my body and kept pushing and pushing until eventually my body gave out and I spent almost six months basically not able to do much of anything other than the very basics and I am still paying for it two years later because I advanced my chronic illness and it also affected me financially, emotionally, etc. So from my heart to yours-listen to your body. It is so hard I know. It isn’t just the going against your natural go getter instincts right now. It is trying to avoid the silence and the loneliness. It is trying to rebuild your life and it feels like it has to happen NOW and won’t wait for your body to catch up. But it will all still be there AND if you rest more now you can hopefully avoid longer term complications that will affect you forever. I hope I don’t sound like I’m judging or scolding you in any way! I have just been there and I hope you can learn from my mistakes. Rest your body and your mind as often as you can. Don’t push through when your body is telling you to stop. Autoimmune stuff is awful and you have so much life ahead of you! You are doing so amazing and we are all so so proud of you and are here even if there is a missed upload or a shorter vlog or an easier to film and edit style video. You are amazing!

In regards to you waking up parched: buy a humidifier!!! During the winters my air gets so dry from running the heat that the same happens to me unless I have my humidifier on. And don't wait to fix this - dry mouth = tooth decay, and no one wants that lol. Although if you have persistent dry eyes/mouth you might want to look into Sjogren's syndrome which often accompanies autoimmune diseases.

Michel! You definitely need to listen to and respect what your body is telling you. Just think of this new journey as a marathon with needed stops to slow down, hydrate, get encouragement from others then move forward on your path. I've been watching your vlogs (OG Michel subbie) not always commenting but always sending positive, healing energy your way. You've done so much, made great strides and will continue to. Self care including meditation and rest is the key. As a single gal, I'm happy to witness your very real situation, I appreciate your honesty. Proud of you. Happy Birthday Max!!!

Why not have a ritual Monday dinner with your new friends. So every Monday make them dinner at your house. A lot of people who work would love a home made dinner. You can slow down, maintain being social & enjoy nutritious meals that you can even share with us to cover some content. When I was single I did this, I had a private Facebook group & would mention what I was making & who wanted to come over. I loved it!

I think adding 15-20 minute naps during the day may help you slow down and when making plans with your friends do something relaxing like facials, painting class or choose places that it's not too crowded, that way you can still go out regularly. Hope you're feeling better.😊😊

lupus will kick your butt if you don't get your rest! you have filled your daily life with chores and activities and all the stuff that had to be done. Don't kid yourself its also a crutch not to face the emotions and deal with what has happened. For me it was my job I worked OT, holidays, weekends whatever filled the hours so I didn't have to face it all.Trouble is it is lying in wait. You can't avoid it. Its harder than the physical stuff but the longer you put if off the more difficult it will be. Been there done that.

Don’t think of it as not being in control of your body & it’s physical responses, think of it as listening to what your body is trying to tell you it needs from you. Take it from someone who is turning 60 in a few months, there comes a time in all of our lives where we have to let external needs, pressures & requests go & just listen to our bodies! They are very good at telling us what they need, we just have to be willing to listen. Your body is dealing with a lot of health issues as well as emotional issues, for your sake please pay attention!
I Love your videos Michel, you are such a brave, kind & together young person! I went through a very traumatic divorce 29 years ago & you have made all the right moves! Keep up the good work! You will come out better than before on the other side of this!

I have RA, FMS, and anxiety - I felt at war with my body for many years. But then I got into therapy and started acknowledging and processing a lot of anger. I realized that my body has been fighting for me this whole time. It's important to listen to your body when it's begging for rest, but rest can take many forms. It doesn't always have to be canceling plans or quitting your job - it could be taking a walk, sitting outside in the sun, going on a drive in the country, reading a book in a cafe. Just slowing down your daily routines and scheduling breaks could help. I will recommend a couple of books - "Burnout" by Emily Nagoski and Amelia Nagoski and "Tired as F*ck" by Caroline Dooner. Lastly, grief and loss doesn't have a set end point or a schedule. Be gentle with yourself.

Yep, your body has to process the grief too. Emotions are feelings but there is also a physical component to emotions - feelings are felt IN and processed IN the body. I’m sure you’ve probably heard that in a yoga class. Restorative yoga, yoga nidra, meditation are all super helpful for processing feelings, resting the body, and calming the mind. I love that you took a pottery class! I loved taking a pottery class in college - so much fun! You may also want to try learning to knit or crochet - both are great meditative practices. Or, if you already know how to knit or crochet, start a new project. Also, Austin has one of my favorite local yarn shops - Hill Country Weavers. Check them out! Or, if you want to try a different kind of craft, you could try spinning or weaving. All of these are fun and restful in their own way and, as a bonus, you have something handmade at the end! 😊 Regardless, be sweet to yourself and give yourself permission to take however much time is necessary to process, feel feelings, rest, and sit with what has changed in your life. Taking that time is worth it, I promise. Hugs!

Focusing on yourself is not always easy especially finding that balance where you give yourself not only physical self-care but mental self-care as well. Being aware that you need to make a change is always the first most important step to incorporating it into your life. Thank you so much for the reminder and your honesty. Processing stress and trauma is SUPER important to avoid PTSD in the long run, but in my understanding, rest is not the only way to help your body process! Exercise, screaming/crying, and socializing with *trusted* folks are other options to help/allow your body to process!

The emotional burn out happened SUPER bad for my mom. She spent a period of about 7 years going from caring for my grandmother in an end of life situation, to caring for my uncle in an end of life situation, to caring for my grandfather in an end of life situation (including all of the “estate” drama that comes afterwards) and when it all just finally ended.........she crashed so hard. Once she got past the crash, the exhaustion was intense.

Hi Michel! I’m catching up on your vlogs and your frustrations about rest really resonated with me. I’ve struggled with allowing myself to rest for years, beginning with a situation similar to what you’ve gone through recently. Here’s my experience…
I’ve found that there’s honestly different kinds of rest… Mental and physical rest. And honestly, at least in my experience, I need to lean into mental rest before I can truly rest physically. I think mental rest can be different for everyone, but for me it’s leaning into faith and praying as much as possible, being forgiving of yourself and those days where you feel like you’re going to give out. It’s letting things go that you’re holding onto that are standing in the way of your body being able to rest, wether it be a task you’re demanding yourself to do, or something bigger. Basically, it’s me reminding myself not to be a drill sergeant or a big bully, lol. Or, it’s being proud of yourself, and knowing you’re always doing your absolute best!! Sending you lots of love, and know we all think you’re doing beautifully.
“A heart at peace gives life to the body” Proverbs 14:30 (this is one of my favorite verses! Thought you might like it, too

Thank you for sharing, Michel. This is going to be helpful to a lot of other people. Having been through my share of trauma, I agree that it isn't in the whirlwind of change that your body decides to freak out, but in the quiet that follows the whirlwind, because it senses it is more safe to do so at that time. It is easy for people to say "make sure to get plenty of rest," and much harder to do when your heart and mind are racing and processing all the time. I'd say that focusing on self-care, rather than rest per se, is really key. You need to prove to your body that you are its best nurturer, that you know it better than anyone else and that you can provide it with the tenderness and care you may have really been seeking from another person for a long time. I am in this journey with you, and am so grateful for you.

It took me time to get over the denial but when my body kept failing me I was forced to listen to it. Ive been making myself relax and rest more and it actually makes me feel like im prepared and can give my full attention to my job, relationships and responsibilities now. Im a go go go type of person and learning to relax more and giving myself grace to rest is freeing. When the time is right you will have time to grieve. It’s hard, and never when you want, but be gentle with yourself when it happens.
Oh my gosh I need a bakery in my town like this! We have one but this is so much cooler! So glad you got yourself a treat too, but DANG! those are Starbucks prices.
My OCD cringed when you made your bed with the open side of the pillow case facing out. 🤣😅
I’m so excited for you and your solo trip!
I definitely need a follow up on the peacocks.
I’m going to check if you have the music used listed in the description, but if not what’s the song you used during your pottery class?

The adrenal issues makes sense for why you’d be so dehydrated. I have Cushings disease and a laundry list, but during pain flares. I’m drinking 4 1.5 litres a day and am still always thirsty. 😅
I definitely wish I could order those, but can’t afford to with my current nearly homeless situation. 🙃
Edit: hearing you explain what others have said, I have to agree with me personally too. My wife left last year, I have a teen and I’ve been in a weird spot thanks to other people making things hard for us to keep housing. So, we have to move into a caravan next month. I’m so worn out, I’m on week eight now of recovering from covid, possibly long covid which feels like the worst fibromyalgia flare I’ve ever had. It’s rough. You’re doing the best you can, be kind to yourself. These seasons are a roller coaster, but I’ve never had the most personal growth. I may be struggling, but I’m still here and working as hard as I can, but trying so hard to do my best.

I went through a very similar situation with my body! I completely understand the frustration. I went through a period of VERY high stress and it wasn't until it was over that my body started to respond in negative ways. Tell your body that its safe! And look into engaging your parasympathetic system.(UA-cam is very helpful for this!) Your parasympathetic system is what releases the "You're safe" hormones and there are things you can do to get that system activated!

    Michel love,
The key word is distraction... Although sometimes it can be beneficial, too much isn't healthy for your emotional state. 🖤
I know it's hard, but from experience, I can tell you it's worth it- for future Michel. 🌟

Yes, you need to listen to your body. It was 2 year fight and I mean fight for me. My first night in my apartment I slept over 12 hours and before it was 2 or 3 hours of sleep. We need to listen to our bodies. Give yourself time, and don't apologize to anyone for taking care of you

I suffered a case of adrenal fatigue and it was so upsetting and frustrating at the time. I feel for you. There are a lot of things that you can do to help yourself heal from it. The adrenals literally need to recover and it does require rest but it requires strategic rest. There's a lot that you can learn about it. Try to think of it as a master's degree in learning how to love and care for yourself even better. Years later the number one thing that I do when I'm feeling exhausted is to lay down for 5 minutes out of every hour of the day if I can and take a daily nap. When your horizontal, your adrenals can relax. I'll pray for you. You've been through a lot. Thank you for sharing your life with us
