- It takes a good amount to get me super frustrated... but bureaucracy is one of those buttons for me 😩. at least I got a beautiful surf in that day, so really I can't have much to complain about.

In Texas you can bring the people who’s house you’re living in with you to the DMV and they sign an affidavit stating you live with them; and they bring the utility bill and proof of residency/address. Idk if it’s like that in HI. It sucks tho. ❤

I was Born and raised here in the States. I think it's safe to say they treat us the same way they treat you. In moving from state to state I have experienced the same thing about showing proof of residence when trying to renew my driver's license or register my vehicle. Been there done that got the shirt. What you said is exactly true: IT SUCKS! Years ago the bureaucracy wasn't quite this bad. It has snowballed in recent years. TOO much government.

Why not contact Kansas drivers license and ask that they send you a new one by mail. May take a week or two, but it should be that easy. That is if you have a valid Kansas DL and it's still valid for at least a year.
Jim, you are absolutely correct. My billfold got stolen at gunpoint one time in Dallas TX, and I just went down the the DMV and they gave me another one on site. If I had been in Hawaii it might have been a different story, Glory I hope you read your comments. Cause you can learn a lot by doing that.

Oh Glory! I’m so sorry you’re having so many problems. Life seems to be so hard sometimes. Hang in there, it will get better. I promise, you are welcome here (in the states). It does seem wrong that so many people come in illegally and are just given everything so quickly and you’re trying to do everything legally and are having a hard time. Being a Canadian/Australian citizen, I totally get it. Every time I came to Canada for any length of time, they made me take a driver's test. Never when I went back to Australia though - they simply re-issued my Aussie license. Have never been to a more bureaucratic country than Canada.

Good afternoon Glory. I am 64 and have had many border and beauro situations. Simply take a flight back to Kansas City and get your license renewed there with all local documents then fly back. best of luck hon.

Would have been easier to call a Missouri DMV, tell them you're on extended vacation and lost your license, pay over the phone, and have them send a new license card to your house in KC. Then have your family mail that to you in Hawaii

I think also a main reason it is so hard is because there is so much identity theft going on that is why they require such important papers. But I also agree that they should be able to access your info through the dmv

Hey Glory, until you send your mac off for repair you can plug in an external monitor and work. CMD+F1 toggles mirroring and dual screen. If you mirror you can still use it. Hope this helps 🎉

I went through something similar. Moving around with the military my Utah Drivers license expired. But because I was over seas I couldn't do anything about it. Got a Virginia DL was just fine come back to Utah and had to take all tests again even after showing a VA Drivers License. Yes it all sucks. Things will get better Breath See if contacting your DMV to see if they will reissue you yours and send it to you.

I would say do what most are doing get in contact with your resident state and see if they can do what is called a re-issue
Also I am a driving instructor in Texas and most everything when it comes to licensing is the same
Ugh, has the same thing happen to my MacBook Pro. Apple said it was moisture, likely coffee, showed me pictures. We never spilled anything on that machine! So I was looking at a $2000 bill but we have apple care so it was going to be $200 but then Apple comped the whole repair. Hope the fix goes smooth!
You should have entered into the USA illegally through the southern border and just speak Spanish. Then they would have given you a driver’s license for free, as well as a free cell phone and some money plus they would have bought you a plane ticket to Hawaii.
Glory, I am a fan and super impressed with what you have already accomplished in your young life, but the bureaucratic challenges that you are dealing with just make me even more sympathetic toward those who are fleeing poverty, crime and war in their home countries. Imagine what this process is like for them. I truly hope that you find a solution to your situation, but I also hope that our country can find a way to help those other immigrants, just as United States did for my family just 3 generations ago.

Hi Glory why don’t you go to the rental car company they probably photocopied you licence when you rented your car get a copy take a picture on your phone and if you get stopped you have I’d along with pass port. It’s always good to copy all you cards and licences. And leave a copy with parents or friend . In case you loose it. By the way they might have a copy of your credit card as well. You will figure it out. Have a great day

If you need to get a new license, then you need to show two proofs of residency in the US. For instance bank statements and medical bills that you get in the mail. It has your address on it and the DMV will most likely take it. I hope this helps! 😊

Poor Glory. Make the best of a bad situ. I know what it's like. I was a real grump last Tuesday, when I had to sit next to a fellow who had just had a cigarette. Ciggie vapours out of his mouth and then the wafting from his person was enough to give me a headache, asthma and a really angry disposition. This was in a Pulmonary Breathing Class as well. Totally contra-indicated. I calmed down much later. Life wasn't meant to be easy, said former Australian Primie Minister, Malcolm Fraser. No it wasn't. but, as with you, it shouldn't be this %%%$%$ hard. Keep smiling.
The Big Island has pretty poor governmental infrastructure, as does Hawaii in general. It is paradise, and it can be really hard to live here! You need somebody's uncle to vouch for you and you'd get your license no problem.

I'm so sorry to see your issues with getting your driver's license back. Unfortunately, Hawaii is like that. There is another side of this place of paradise that most do not see. I grew up there and as much beauty they have to offer, I will never go back. They have their own way of doing things and it is not meant to work for you. come back to the states and thing will not be as trying. I do not like posting this, but with your time there, you get what I'm saying.

you can call the DMV of the state your license was issued and tell them you're on vacation and lost your license, mail it to your house mom mails it to you. you should really get away from apple computer's and go with a normal PC, much cheaper to buy and to repair and some are much much faster at editing. the catastrophe of your life right now sucks balls but my god you're in Hawaii have traveled to some places people have only dreamed of going to but all in all I think you're handling it pretty well, I'm sending a BIG hug so use it wisely....... ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ
If you like buracracy then try moving to Germany and learning to drive in Germany. You won't have to worry about proof of where you live when you do your driving license, because there is an entire procedure where everyone has to register where they live for no apparent reason. And so much more fun with more amd more paperwork.

It may have worked out that way for the best. Did you send your drivers license in with your application for a green card? I wonder if your auto insurance broker would have record of your home state drivers license. Although you lost your license, there should be record of you having a valid drivers license in your home state.

Just get a new liscence from your home state you have been living in for years - you can pay a little fee and they should send you a new one - people lose their liscences all the time - you should be able to get it easily

Its ridiculous for you even try to get Hawaian driver's license because you are there as visitor. You are not even gainfully employed in Hawai'i or do you have an established residence there.
