If the Greaser dogs were part of the Greasers in "The Outsiders," I think Cliff would be Dallas (Matt Dillon), Lube would be Two-Bit (Emilio Estevez) and Shriek would be Steve (Tom Cruise)!
Cliff: "Don't worry, we're going to give you a brand-new hairdo." Lube: "Duh, I'll get the curlers." Cliff: "I was using a metaphor!" Lube: "Duh, okay, but the curlers work better."
This scene perfectly presents everything wrong with this show. The Greasers had the same problems the Kanker sisters did on Ed Edd n Eddy, they are competently invincible and never lose. Any time Catdog has a window of opportunity, some plot device happens that causes their efforts to fail, which make all of these Greaser episodes the same thing. Why should I care if things will just end with the Greasers winning? In order for a show where the main premise is to beat down on the main characters to work is that have your MCs at least have Ws over their oppresors/antagonists so that even though the world is against them it never feels like it has to Status Quo them. Unless it is used to develop them, which this show doesn't do. Even the friends Catdog does have like Lola here or Mervis and Dunglap can turn on Catdog if the plot calls for it, Lola just sits by and watches the Greasers pound Catdog because they unintentionally messed up her big moment when their reason was to save her because from their perspective she was in distress. Which makes Lola look bad. And Mervis/Dunglap turn on Catdog in Hypno Teased. This show comes off as a worse version of Ed Edd n Eddy, because while that show isn't great about it either, the show has funny moments and balances it out because it never feels like anyone outside the Kankers are unbeatable, yet in this show, Catdog can almost NEVER win against Greasers or Rancid Rabbit. There are also way too many episodes that either revolve Cat getting tortured or throwing some amount of Cat abuse just because that is the joke. The show doesn't have a lot of jokes to justify their cruelty a lot of the time. Especially since the characters always going after Cat NEVER comes as a result for retribution for anything bad Cat has done or punishing him, it's just because everyone is discriminate toward him for being a Cat. Dog rarely ever has to worry about the Greasers and whenever they don't have to worry about everyone else, outside of the few times they get along, the main duo are jerks to one another, only Cat actually suffers consequences for his actions. This show sucks!
Also not to mention Cat can be a jerk as well. Like in the episode where they became Guard Dogs. Cat was the one who fed Dog shrimp even though he is allergic to shellfish.
@@Quawnaime Cat is a jerk for sure, and while his worst actions are terrible, I still find everyone around him who isn't Lola to be terrible or worse than him. Especially since he's really the only one to get punishment for his actions a lot of the time, whereas everyone else never does, (The Greasers are invincible) and when they do, its so rare you can barely count it on one hand.
I think the term "torture porn" is the only way to describe this show. Even as a kid, I found it disturbing how the show expected us to be okay with the main characters getting beaten for just existing

Looking back this show is just too mean spirited and cruel, it’s why nobody looks back on this show as fondly as other nicktoons.
