It just starts happening to me, same car, same model, the same color that I love. But now the same problem. Uff, could you tell me more about how to repair it? Thank you
Did you keep/match the replacement actuators? Seems like a safety unlatch is being requested. Watch the hatch close parameter on VIDA? How did the operating limit alignment go? (I’m assuming there is one based on the window/sunroof procedures)
Could be your after market rubber liner. It might be giving resistance to the tailgate when almost closed. Notice the carpet impressions on the tailgate. That's caused by the liner.
Got problem on Xc40. Tailgate cannot close fully. It closes only 2/3 of the way. Contacted the service centre and the car have to be towed back to the workshop. Now waiting for the tow truck.
Be interested to know if you help it by pushing at the point it should latch (to see if the problem is the tailgate not getting to the fully closed position?
There are bump stops on either side of the liftgate that can be adjusted and reset with the VIDA software. My guess is that they are there to help the computer determine if the liftgate is properly closed. I haven't had this issue yet on my xc60 but if you've tried everything else this would be an easy item to have your mechanic check.
Sugarloafgee, in one comment, you said the problem was the "actuators". In another, you said it was the "liftgate motors". Which is it? Are the liftgate motors the same as the struts? Thanks in advance!
I have the same problem with my 2012 XC60. It doesn’t fulling latch but you it looks like it is. I’ve been trying to find a solution. Have you had any luck finding a fix?
I just had it in for a 60,000 mile service. Other than this liftgate issue(which is solved now) it had been a fantastic vehicle. Can't complain one bit.
I believe it is a software issue. I talked one time to the owner of a dealership ( Toyota)who had to pay $200.00 to Volvo to get the software update so that it would close fully. ( It would remain open just slightly enough to have rain water seep in) After the update it worked fine. The guy replaced the struts just like you did and right after he had this issue.
Hydraulic lift hatch support issue on 2012 Volvo XC60: I just replaced the hydraulic lift strut and the 2 hydraulic lines. When I try closing or opening the hatch remotely or via the switch it doesn’t work. Does anyone know if the system needs to be bled? If so how do I bleed the system? Thanks for the advice or please point me to the right source for assistance .
My 2010 Volvo XC 60 Hatch won’t open at all can I get it to open from the inside? In my opinion ALL vehicles should be able to open from the inside, maybe I need to rip break bust the inside in order to see the inside to see if I can get it open and guess what! I AM READY TO DO IT! VOLVO you better get back to the drawing table to improve upon this, do you need this FEMALE to help you with that? on what should and shouldn’t be done with all future designs!!!!!
PROBLEM SOLVED: Hatch actuators that were replaced were actually defective. Dealer put another set of actuators on and problem was solved!

Did you fix it? I'm having the same problem now. Did check the fuses?
fuses were fine, please read the comments, the problem was faulty actuators

The solution was replacing the liftgate motors. They were previously replaced but were defective
I have the same problem with my xc60 and I cant find out whats wrong :(
The hatch actuators that were replaced were actually defective, put another set on a problem solved!
It was door lock actuator? Or any other?
It was the liftgate motors. I had a shop perform the repair
@@Nicky_Pin_It Thank you, somehow now works ok again, however, I have a front right strange noise I think is a pully, going to service next week.
This SUV gives another type of issues?

Mine is doing the same thing I’ll make appointment to take it in
good to hear volvo just replace things and hope for a fix.
I am having the same issue with my 2013 Volvo XC60.
Hope you get it resolved
It is the problem of motor , not actuator , isn't it?.
The replaced motor/actuators whatever you want to call them were faulty. A replacement set fixed the problem
I have the same car. Volvo XC60 t6 2012 even the same color. With exactly the same problem with no solution.
Our issue was faulty liftgate motors
