“Paul McCartney lost his voice” well, he is 80 and it’s a miracle this man still has voice (specially after Monkberry Moon Delight), he has been yelling since 1960s on studio and tour. As a fan, I’m very greatful to live at the same time as Paul, seeing him well having fun on live shows, new songs and moments like these. It was a super perfomance with Chrissie Hynde.
Couldn’t agree more. I saw Paul this June and he was GREAT! If people expect an 80 year old playing live to sound like he did when he was 26 on the record, they’re just insane lol. This is a TOUGH vocal, especially after 60+ years of belting your voice
Why not enjoy Paul instead of criticizing him? He's 80 years old, obviously he's not going to hit the same musical notes as before. Even so, he was encouraged to play for the first time as a soloist such an emblematic song as Oh Darling! I think we should all understand and respect him.
We are not criticizing HIM…..we are criticizing his VOCALS. I think for the sake of all that were there, he should have lowered the key or chosen a different song.
I didn't say what the BEST bass line was. Read it again, one of the best. I don't make comparisons either as it is subjective to say the least what you think is the BEST might not be the same as someone else. Unless you're looking for an argument. Are you trolling?
John lost his voice singing "Money" in 1962 and Paul lasted another 60yrs singing "Oh Darling" He's a living legend and an inspiration to us all. We love you Paul😍❤
You just CAN'T hate on Paul McCartney... even if you're not a fan of the Beatles (which I am a huge fan), you CAN'T deny his impact on music over the past 60 year or so... and at 80 he might not be his signature self, but if this is as close as it gets, I'll take it!
It's not "hate" to be honest that this is un-listenable. You can love your grandparents but still take away their license when they shouldn't be driving anymore. For his own dignity he should stop lol
@@dububro There's a difference between hate and a toxic work place. All of them were cracking from the fame but the music stood strong. A business relationship tends to fracture things but at the end of the day...down the road, they still loved each other.

It is really amazing Paul had never played that song live before. But, did it because Taylor loved it. Very moving. It must be a very unique bond to have been in the biggest band in the world, and lose a bandmate. Dave has now been through that twice. But, it's something Paul understands, also.
Something Magical about live music even if your not there but watching it on youtube, kudos to all who were on the stage, especially Taylors son on the drums on another song, that was truly special for me
@@metalguru5226 Actually maybe it's a good thing he never performed it on tour even when he was young. Singing it almost every night would have shredded his voice the entire tour. @@sharigreen9252 Right. John Lennon once said Paul should have let him sing it, but although John was also a great shouter when he wanted to be, he didn't have the range of Paul shown on the recording. I love the low note Paul hits on the word "harm" . John was great, but didn't have that range.
@@metalguru5226 Clearly there was some jealousy on John's part re Paul's voice. Not saying John didn't have the chops to sing the song. His interpretation would have been quite different. Paul's vocal on that song is the definitive version of the song. Case closed.

Saw McCartney in Winston Salem in May. It was the most magical concert I've ever attended. And here he is with The Foo Fighters - definitely the best band from their era. These guys rock!
Great to see them do this. Massive credit to them both for even attempting it. Plus Chrissie still showing it’s possible to look cool as fuck regardless of age.

Interesting how so many people say “His voice is shot” like they’re revealing something new. Yes, we can all hear that this amazing 80-year old man doesn’t sings as well as he did when he was a young man. Why state the obvious? How about just appreciating the fact that he’s still performing live at an incredible level? I’ve seen Paul about 8 times since 1989, and my very favorite performance was seeing him earlier this year with my son. His performance was simply magical.
To Be fair I think Paul fans just care about him and how people perceive him. It makes me feel a bit sad to hear how his voice has gone……but it is to be expected after a lifetime of gigging…..and at his age. I think people worry that this is how he will be remembered.
Agree. I hate when people criticize Elton John now when he sings. He’s 75 and if you can’t appreciate legends like Paul and Elton still performing and playing then you’re a hateful person.
Sir Paul has always been an old soul. I saw his concert in June and I love the way his voice sounds now. He can still rock, but all of the ballads are that much sweeter and more meaningful now. If you heard him sing "The Long and Winding Road" that night (unaccompanied), you would have had tears in your eyes, just like me. It was beautiful.
I love that Paul was there. He too suffered so much losses. So much pain transfigured into great music, great art and love. I hope Dave will do the same in it’s own unique way, like he has done in the past and we are here to thank him for that.
Not to mention, that at age 80, he has lost many, many of the friends and loves from his early life. With his past, his talent and all of the years of experience within him, Sir Paul is the rarest of all things now; A man who holds the wisdom and compassion of the ages.
Paul had a hard time singing this song when he was 28 years old. Amazing that he would even try it -- and make it through in a workmanlike fashion -- at 80 years old.
I listened to a great radio interview (on YT) today w/Chrissie Hynde. When the host brought up this performance he expressed surprise that she took on much of the vocal. She retorted with 'I was was surprised as you were.' I took that to mean possibly Paul and she did a rehearsal backstage (or earlier - Chrissie is a friend of the family) and rather last minute realised he couldn't hit the notes, so she had to step up. Apparently this was his first time trying it live. It is a wickedly challenging tune to sing, and this will likely be his first and only ever on-stage attempt. Mind, his voice has been shaky for some years - sometimes just okay, sometimes great. Understandably, the more he tours, the better he seems to be. But a one-off with a voice killer of a tune like this was unwise for him, though great for Chrissie, who surely gained even bigger respect and a few more fans.
It's a tribute concert ffs. That means he's singing from his heart, just enjoy it from that standpoint if you have a problem with his voice, because you're obviously clueless! Thank you Paul ❤
