Empowered To Go An Extra Mile

Jesus announced that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. This is want He was implying, my teachings are easy. Wrong teachings put people in bondage.
Matthew 5:41
“And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.“
By law, a Roman citizen or soldier could compel a subject from one of the conquered lands to carry his backpack, or load, for him for one mile, but not more than one mile. Jesus used this phrase as He was preaching a powerful sermon on the Mount. He said, “Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.”
Can you imagine the bombshell this must have been for those who were listening to this great sermon, how about those who were under Roman occupation? It was indeed a shock to some of His congregation. What a shock!
