    It’s literally the perfect amp. Two channels, super versatile, effects loop, loud enough to play almost any gig and power reduction for the bedroom. Take my money.

      I just got one yesterday. It might be the best amp I’ve ever played. It does it all, and really well. I knew the dirt was going to sound good, but the clean channel is right up there with Fender cleans, I was shocked

      @@CARLOSVSCARLOShow does it do mid gain crunch rock stuff? Is it more for metal?

    • @CARLOSVSCARLOS
      @CARLOSVSCARLOS Рік тому +1

      @@dryanbuchanan I don’t have it anymore lol, because I got a killer deal on an OR50, which is a different sound altogether, but the TH30 is definitely heavier than what I have now. I’m not a metal guy, but I’d imagine it does a great job. I sold it to a metal player who was way into it. It’s heavy, like way heavy when you turn the gain up to around past 11 o’clock, like so much more than I’d ever use (as more of a classic rock gain and less guy). But it’s also really versatile, as you turn it up through all the gain stages, it does everything in between really well. I loved that amp, it was only a question of what I specifically wanted in an amp that I chose the OR50 in place of it, but the TH30 was capable of crazy chugging. I owned a dual rectifier too, and it could do that level (not the same sound, but the same, if not more gain) gainy stuff that the Mesa did. I think it’s honestly a great amp, no matter the style, and I think any metal player would love it, if I had to guess. It’s badass

      I just got one too, very satisfied but damn it is loud ! Tech guy checked it and told me it delivers more arround 45W than 30 ahah
      I just have an issue, I feel like the dirt channel sounds Fuzzy, specially when using high string. Is it my hears or may I have an issue with the head ?

    Hey dude! Two questions. Can you tell me what position on the cab you placed your SM57 in this video? Also, how close was the back of the cab to the wall(how much “breathing room” did the open back of the cab have, essentially)? Love your recorded tones here.

    • @TobysGuitarGearDemos
      @TobysGuitarGearDemos  Рік тому

      Hey! That Orange PPC212V cab with neo cream backs really suits these amps. Mic would have been where the dust cap meets the cone. I’ve found that works best on most speakers. The edge of the mic will just be lined up with where the dust cap ends, then the rest of the mic is on the cone. Distance wise - if you lay your hand flat on the table it’s 3 fingers widths away from the amp (around 5cms). This is just to reduce the proximity effect. If you want more chunk than this move the mic closer to the cab 👍 in terms of being away from the wall it’s close to the fake wall thing I have but that’s super thin, behind that there’s a gap of about 2 foot before the outer wall. I find the room only makes a difference when you really crank it, you can get more low end when it’s nearer a corner of the room but it’s only really heard if you use room mics 👍

      I think it would have been ran in 4 tube mode unless otherwise said. No post EQ on the SM57 apart from high pass at 70Hz. I may have used a stereo room pair of ribbons to supplement the 57 although it would of been very low, literally just to add that sense of room sound 👍

    Just getting interested in Orange. Trying the Terror 15 but find the ‘natural’ channel way too dark to really use, a clean boost helps a lot. So naturally I’m concerned here with only a ‘shape’ knob for tuning the dirty channel. Why couldn’t they spring for just one more knob!?!?

    • @nathanward3888
      @nathanward3888 4 роки тому +1

      I use a clean boost with treble and bass controls in the loop on my Brent Hinds Terror to brighten the natural channel up. Works like a charm. I rarely ever use the clean though, now that I tuned my Swollen Pickle to work amazingly with the dirty channel. I don't play any real cleans, and typically only used the clean channel on my previous Blackstar for my channel to use muff style fuzz on. the Orange is the first amp I have found that will sound great running a fuzz on the dirty channel.

      Hey, it's not a massive drop in level. The good thing with all the Orange stuff is they have a very good taper on the volume controls. They bedroom very well. I’m so on the fence with the 212 Vertical. Some videos make it sound great while others, not so much. Any advice? I’m wanting a 212 but can’t decide since I haven’t been able to hear the vertical in person.

    • @TobysGuitarGearDemos
      @TobysGuitarGearDemos  3 роки тому +1

      I think it suits some amps more than others. The Dark Terror, Rocker and TH30 sound great with it. I'd argue even better than a V30 loaded cab. However my Tiny Terror sounds best through a V30 cab. I think the vertical has a little less low end which really suits the fatter sounding Orange amps. If I was gigging I'd go for the the vertical anyways as it's WAY lighter 👍

      Never played a mini rectifier, 600 for one is a really good deal. TH30 dirty channel is similar to the dark terrors and Rob Chapman used a DT + mini recto together for a bit. Check it out here:

    I’m gonna be honest, this amp does not sound like this in person. Especially the dirty channel. From the one I owned the dirty channel was incredibly flubby and wasn’t good for what I wanted to play. Try one out for yourself before you buy one instead of using a video for reference. Videos make them sound way better than they sound in person trust me.
