The towns and medium-sized cities I have lived in did not have fireworks for xmas. That surprised me. Very cute parade also. I love the small town simplicity and joy of community.

Man. I absolutely admire how you consistently strive to 'overkill' things. Seriously, I don't believe there's such a thing as 'overdoing it' for oneself. Period. 'Good enough' don't cut it for me. 'Craftsmen' are fast becoming a dying breed.

New to the channel but really enjoying the story and progress on the home build! Please look into buying one of the rooftop safety harness available at home Depot in the roofing aisle for $100. Even though you are finishing with the roof soon the kit can be use for other elevated work such as the siding. Good job!

That is just so freaking awesome that you get that sort of event to attend in little towns like that. We don't get such public things very often in big cities here. Sometimes some little events but nothing like that. Also looking good on the home build. I found your excavator video last night and decided "I could use another offgrid homestead build channel to watch" and here I am subscribed. Like it so far. :)

I do like this chap's videos he is doing a sterling job all by himself, but the poor so and so has obviously let the solitude get to his mind if he thinks that is a safety harness !!

When I installed my extra vent flashing. The instructions said not to seal the bottom portion. I don't know if it is important . But I do not have any leaks and it has been there for a couple years. I am sure you know being a plumber but thought I would share. Hate to see you run into any problems. Heck I HOPE I DON'T !!!! :)

Those boots are going to work fine until you put the roofing on and realize that there is a flexible rubber boot specifically for metal roofs that goes over the top of the roofing......They are perfect for a temp setup but that caulking will make it tough to tear apart :-)Roofing's easy, just be the drop brother.

+Akan Doherty.....Myself also. I sure was glad to see him using a 'safety' rope on the last few trips up there. I, (ONCE), stepped thru a single story roof of a building I was demolishing. It happened so fast, I didn't even realize how lucky I was to have to escaped with only bruised elbows until the next morning. It has given me the 'willies' to see him working up there the last few weeks.

Bryan Young - that's not house wrap. It is synthetic roofing underlayment. It is actually more durable than roofing felt and can be exposed to the elements before the roofing is installed. This material is actually preferred for use under metal roofs too.
