"Roll a d20 for musical taste" - Matt handling all the weird stuff the players and guests come up with... especially when they're as bonkers as Hardwick, such a great job. ^^
Yeah because he was falsely accused of SA by an ex-girlfriend after he dumped her. Found out the only reason she went out with him was to try get a foothold in the industry, and when they didn't work she started slandering him. But because of the drama CR pretend like they never had anything to do with him now. Sad that all these women can get away with this shit, never facing repercussions for their actions. Meanwhile men's lives get destroyed even when they are completely innocent.
I love how Matt just lets some of these moments happen, he steps out of DM and becomes a spectator until needed. Also just now making the connection near the end when Gern talks about being enslaved by other draconians who "had tails" was a huge point of foreshadowing for VM later on
Correction, he can do an Irish word. Much like I can sound like an Aussie for a word if I say the word "particle" but simply drop the "r" and say "paticle"... does not mean I can do an Aussie accent. No hate, love Tal and the show... but beyond "british" he's rather lacklustre at accents.

So. I used to listen to the nerdist podcast (now id10t) and youtube recommended me titans grave to watch. I knew nothing about dnd and recognized chris by his voice, which made me curious to see what this was about. (And yes, Wil wheaton was the first person I've ever seen gming). And that video was the first time ever I saw Laura. And because I liked her so much on Titans grave and craved new dnd related content, I decided to give critical role a try. I completely avoided anything new related to the channel (to avoid spoilers) and started from ep1. And after that I was gone (I've caught up and am catching c2 live every week). It's very funny to me see chris as a guest in c1 now and realize he was the one who pulled me into this whole thing.
*Chris:* My character is blue dragon born necromancer who has three undead pets and uses magic candles plus, he has a questionable, slightly offensive Irish accent *Taliesin:* I raise you with a purple blood hunter amnesiac tiefling with a questionable Irish accent, a coat that’ll make any cosplayer cry just from thinking of it and to add insult to injury, he is the most popular character in the second campaign even though he dies at the start and barely does anything (Don’t @ me, guys. Molly’s my favorite)

I would have loved to see Vox Machina and Gern meet again after Vax becomes the champion of the Raven Queen. I feel like it would change the dynamic quite a bit.
They're not going to. Chris Hardwick was outed as a very emotionally and sexually abusive person by his ex, Chloe Dykstra. Matt Mercer confirmed that his character is dead, in-universe.
The studio he works for, AMC has done an internal investigation and kept him on, rather than fire him. So they don’t think he is guilty (enough). Whether that means his ex was lying is a completely different story, of course. Legally, psychological and economical abuse is not an offense. And at what point do these kinds of behaviors qualify as abusive and so on. Plus perception and communication are important too: he might not have perceived parts of his behavior as abusive, and she might have interpreted intent where there was none.
@@GiselleGauthier Not the whole story. He was a used of it though not directly through an open letter by Chloe. Matt and the crew who at the time were under the nerdist banner at the time threw him under the bus rather than wait for any actual proof to come forward. Most likely die to pressure from nerdist. She sent him psycho bitch style texts. Then tried to get back with him like 8 months latter. The proof was clear that the allegations were BS. That’s why AMC brought him back. If there was any doubt about it they would have left him off the air. Too bad Matt and the others didn’t have the balls/ability to put their foot down and hear the evidence first at the time. This is one of the reasons I think Matt and the rest of the critical role crew split from nerdist to do their own thing.
Iirc he abused his gf and CR very clearly stated that they wanted absolutely nothing more to do with him and that Gern died horribly. It's been a while, but that was the gist of it

Chris' accent is like an Irish accent fighting a Welsh accent in an alley with a piece of glass.
Over a piece of rotten motten

It actually sounds like a guy I know doing a posh Dublin accent.
I'd say there's at least one person who speaks a little bit like it
Probably posh

Gern suddenly dumping his entire backstory before disappearing forever was wonderful.

I was dying at the end where he was just randomly wandering around and then like "OOH! A PURSE!" 🤣🤣🤣 Gold.

Gern and Scanlan would have made a cute couple

Gern's voice sounds like it would probably be the result of Wheatley from Portal and Crowley from Good Omens having an estranged, eccentric lovechild-

Chris is a fantastic guy and he was hilarious in this episode! I got to meet him a couple of years ago and he's so nice!
