Went to see this show on Sunday because my boyfriend was subbing for the normal violin and I didn't like how much I was relating to Cathy's pain with the tension and disconnect. We ended things the next day when he told me that he thought he'd fallen out of love with me, and that he'd stopped caring. Now I can't get this out of my head as well as the freaking instrumental motive at the beginning.
Te musical itself is set up that way. The perspective from Kathy (Anna Kendrick) is told from the end of the relationship to the beginning, whereas Jamie's is told from the beginning to the end. That's why it jumps around so much.

This is my favorite song from this musical. I love how this is the first song that introduces you to the musical so if you have no idea what this musical is about you can still feel all of the emotions without the actual backstory behind it. Brilliant!

She didn’t. 2) Cathy let her insecurities and jealousy get in the way. Also in all her songs she thinks Jamie will “save her”. Also in Jamie’s song: “I couldn’t rescue you” Jamie wrote to Cathy saying the same thing, he couldn’t rescue her no one can... 3) Lastly the two of them didn’t try. He ended up lying to me about everything he ever told me ever since I first met him when war worked at the same place. He had told me that he would never lie to me because he knew how important honey is to me and he swore he would never lie or hurt me but he ended up lying about every. Single. Thing. He ever told me. The lies weren’t even anything that he skulls have lied about. It was so stupid! He lied about living alone when in reality he lived with his brother. There’s nothing wrong with living with your brother. He lied about how he paid his car of so fast. And just so many other minuscule things! He told me that he lied because he didn’t want people knowing him or knowing who he was or anything about him for some reason. It’s SO STUPID!! He said it killed home every day that he was lying to me but it clearly wasn’t killing him enough for him not to do it in the first place. He said some of the things he lied about was to impress me. But I think he knew I don’t care about those things or about being impressed! I just wanted him.
