- (A personal memory, not trying to win any movie awards here!) Bert Kaempfert's "That Happy Feeling" from the 50's accompanies a great Sunday drive from Flagstaff to Mormon Lake Arizona after a major snow. You can do this easily at eMemoriesMaker.com.
My dad played this on all road trips when I was a child. Good times. Nothing but music chosen by my parents. The good parents.

Bert Kaempfert war ein großer Musiker ich habe alle seine Platten ich verehrte ihn bis heute Mega🌹 danke
This Bert Kaempfert hit ACTUALLY puts a smile on my face whenever I hear it. It's that powerful.
I remember riding with my dad. We gave him an FM converter for his car that only had AM. He was able to listen to his station, WTFM that played Bert Kemphert as well as Andre Kostalonitz(sp?), Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, as well as others.
I remember " That Happy Feeling" playing as we drove up to Northern New Jersey in the winter, grounds covered with snow for a weekend at my aunt and uncles house. I watched this video, and was brought back to that exact moment.
Thank you.
Its amazing how a song can bring back joyous memories of a time in your life, this one hits a deep cord in my childhood. The 60s were a great time for me. Thanks mom and Dad for the life. Thanks Bert for the music to remember it by.
Oh boy. So well said you've brought tears to my eyes
I echo that sentiment-see my comment above
I'm 70 and I have tears in my eyes. God bless you Ralph, and Bert.
That right, I remember to my father
I heartily second that comment-the 60's was a good time in my life, too.
As a kid in the late 50s & early 60s I remember watching The Sandy Becker Show on channel 4 in New York while he ended his show everyday with this song. I loved waiting for his theme song because it made me feel good listening to it. As I hear it now I can still see my old living room with that Philco B&W TV and my friends sitting on the floor with me. Some are gone now and so is Sandy but this music lives on. Hearing it makes me smile again reliving my childhood, thanks for posting it.
My Dad loved Bert Kampfert.. I so enjoy still listening to these beautiful melodies!! Happy memories from my childhood ❤️
My dad loved Bert Kampfert too! What memories!!
The sad and untimely passing of Bert Kaempfert left a big void in the world of music. He is not easily forgotten. This great tune composed by him befits our memories of him and his genius
I had heard this song as a kid, but never knew the name of it. When my folks bought a stereo in 1970, it came with an 8 track tape player. We joined the RCA music club and got 8 tapes for 5 bucks and we got a Bert Kaempfert best of tape. When we played it, this was the second song. Well, I was overjoyed. Finally, I had the song.
May Herb Oscar Anderson RIP
This brings me right back to WEMP... Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Early 1960's.
A joyful memory
❤❤❤ I was a kid then took. Lived in st Francis in Milwaukee. Listened to a station out of west bend. Such great memories ❤
This melody never fails to make my happy when I hear it. One of those which are really worth to hear and enjoy.
I forgot the music that I rediscovered here. Half a century passed by! How much we have changed towards tooth and claw. We love corporate culture! Sigh. I wish we could all go back to the days when the sky was blue, the valley was green.......fill up the rest yourself.
Love this music !!
I'm from New York, but I have been to Mormon Lake and Mormon Lake Lodge ! Ahhh......the memories....
This song always reminds me of childhood days when Channel 61 in Cleveland would use it as their sign-off song...wow, remember when TV stations used to sign-off ??? 😂😂😂
Mid 60s...every Sunday after church...mom puts on the Bert Kaempfert, followed by Al Hirt and some Herb Alpert. She did this religiously. Wonderful memories. Thank you mom. Miss you !
Your comment warmed my heart! God bless you as you cherish the memories of the great music of our younger days! ❤️🎶
I remember this great song when it came out in 1962. For months we'd walk to school with That Happy Feeling coursing through our heads. Wonderful memories, and I love the song as much today.
Exactly my experience too, walking along to school with the tune going through my head. I turned 7 later in 1962. I lived in a small city by the name of Gympie in Queensland, Australia.
When ever i need a lift, all i do is play this tune. It lifts me up straight away, and gives me my own "happy feeling"...
I'm with you Stephen, fantastic isn't it. I'm 65, so my boys think this is music for oldies, but I remind the eldest, a Metallica fan, what chance will their music have of being enjoyable, wonderful and perfectly up-to-date 57 years later?
In the 1960's, my mother used to put the test pattern on and listen to the music while she was.cleaning This song and another kaempfert song ,'swinging safari', were mainstays . Great memories !
Excellent video! Great for road travel. That Happy Feeling was recorded in 1962, not a 50's recording. Never get tired of that song, thanks to one television station in Los Angeles, CA I watched as a kid growing up. Well done!
My grandfather loves this song, It was our sister song, my she rest in peace, love you. god bless
Can't believe my comment has so many likes . .. This is joyful music .. Music .. and that's what matters .. it stirs a feeling .. whether it was generations before mine .. It is music and Joy ..
A very nice tune I used to hear long ago when I was a kid and a teenager. What I like in it is it really conveys happiness. And I feel happy everytime I hear it. Grand! One only has to listen to this fabulous tune to be happy.
I love this Bert Kämpfert song!
You know,it's been nearly 60 years since I last heard this song! It fits this video so well! Reminds me when we used to go to Colorado on vacation. My Mom really liked Bert Kaenpfert's music. We had a single of Afrikaan Beat" on 45,which I used to play over and over on the Silvertone console.Really miss those days!
Such a simple melody, yet so perfect. It does perfect musical circles in the major scale, the musicianship is flawless, and arrangement is perfect. It really IS the song of happiness.
Never gets old very refreshing when you listen to it .♥️
Beautiful music and beautiful Arizona snow!
I love this good song very much. Thank you & Bert Kaempfert.
The ultimate Bert Kaempfert music. This one has so much memories for me I dont even know where to start. My parents used to have this album and as kids would play musical chairs with this. This is back in 1975 by which time this had already been a hit. In Zambia a number of the songs from his album "A Swingin' Safari" were themes on radio and television shows back when we had TVZ!
TVZ later became ZBS which then became ZNBC here in Zambia!
What sweet nostalgia.
Good childhood memories!
I too remember when I was a child in the United States my parents had played this song; for some reason it reminded me of cold weather or Christmastime.....
Take care. Rodney
As a child , I fell in love with the wonderful Music of Burt Kaempfert ; this was one Genius, his arrangement and horn was so clear and soothing .
This track and "Swingin Safari" were both used a lot on radio in country NSW aus as well, and as you say, the memories just flood back and mist up my eyes. The smells, the joys and the happy times are all strong in my mind - thanx Bert.
I loved it too, i.m born in the congo in 1951 and travel also in zambia, zwimbabwe and south africa during the years 1960.
CAN'T HELP BUT FEELING HAPPY
Sometimes we do not give the entire orchestra a full credit . With is song Burt Kaempfert was wonderful was just marvelous, he shows that Music have no colour .Just one of the very best !!
No enough words to describe it's charm & magic.i got this LP 2nd hand in Delhi street market in 1978.just refound it yesterday.simply nostalgic memories
Another Kaempfert tune I love is Afrikkan Beat, as heard in the movie "The Dish." Not a long bit, but still fun.
Charming! Reminds me of family drives in a Saskatchewan winter, all those decades ago with Bert on the radio. Older cars along the way, of course, but that crazy looking around through a child's eyes, at the winter around me, couldn't be better captured than with a lovely Bert song like this.
Such beautiful music 🎶 it's so relaxing to listen to thank you so much
How the memories come flooding back, my parent's playing this at home in Scotland, this makes me so happy.
I love this song, and it's title matches it exactly! I used to visit my grandparent's in northern NJ and this was the opening music for the Sandy Becker Show out of NYC. Such happy memories of being young, carefree, and waiting for your favorite TV programs--what antcipitaiton! Thanks for the memories!
this is why I added it to my list - I used to always remember when I would hear the music - I would yell to the kids - "it's Sandy Becker time" - now when they're older they don't remember the show or the song - so I checked it out and found these -- it was more of an excitement and memories for me than the kids - glad you enjoyed it -it's a happy time !
Great video for a great tune. Reminds me of going home to Whistler, B.C. Thanks!!
One of my fondest memories was when my dad brought home the album by total surprise (it wasn't my birthday or anything like that - I had been riding with my dad in the car, and he could tell I loved the song - still do. In 1970, the single would be unobtainable).
Played that album until it looked and sounded like sandpaper.
Good takes on Similau and Sunday in Madrid as well.
That’s a good Dad and person not your birthday just something he observed in you while playing this song I will type it again “That’s a good dad and person” what a memory that is …just made my day reading this comment
This was one of the theme songs for The Sandy Becker Show, a kid's show that aired from 1955 to 1968. I watched it when I was young kid in the 1960s.
AM morning radio the 60's and grandma's kitchen. I can still smell coffe and breakfast.
Exactly! Thanks!
Great joy that happy feeling now

That happy feeling was played a lot on many AM radio stations during the summer of 1962 nationwide.
I'd forgotten how good this instrumental is! It's been a long time since I heard it. It was a pleasure! It really does give you a happy feeling! Puts a smile on your face! Thanks for posting!
I love thankyou verymach
At 85 yrs old, if I need a pick me up in the morning, this is it, it gets my blood running.
Wonderful video and even better music. The album this is from, 'That Happy Feeling' was released in 1962. This song has been a favorite of mine ever since.
I love Bert's music!

Very professional and superb real music.
That Happy Feeling Album , always love it , the geatest memory ..
I love the bass line of this song- it's what I believe is called a "walking" bass line, and it's so perfect. It's apparently enough of a feature of this song to warrant TWO basses, as well- a standup bass playing that "walk" on the downbeat, and an electric bass being plucked with a pick, adding some rhythmic counterpoint. Such a nicely arranged and perfectly executed piece!
That electric bass played a "percolator" part. I believe Bert was the first to use this technique.
@@joey_bonin A "percolator" part? I'm not familiar with that term, but I think I understand, and it sounds like a pretty apt term; I like it.
The electric bass in this piece seems to dress up the steady downbeat of the standup bass line, giving the song a more jaunty sound with a little bit of a spring to its step.
@@catkeys6911 That's the idea. "Tequila" by the Champs is a good example. The percolator part on that record is more elaborate.
Endless melody..thanks God for inspiring such tender and vibrant music to the Great Bert!!
I've seen a few of these types of videos on UA-cam. I love them! Road Trips set to music! Great idea and lots of fun. Thanks!
This makes me think of a drive home in the dead of winter, from Regina to our small town in Saskatchewan, in the mid-60s. Utterly enchanting.
This song was used on a show called Tourist Topics broadcast from Sydney , Nova Scotia in 1968. I never knew the name of it until yesterday. Brings back lots of memories.
I think Bert Kaempfert was my all time favorite band leader his music was the greatest especially Wonderland by night
lot of happy memories with this song.
and the video footage reminds me of back in the 60's, when I was little and my parents and I used to drive up to Idlewild occasionally on the weekend ,and my dad always had the radio on KBIG FM and they played this song a lot. we heard it on the way up there one time... we rented a cabin up there for a week one summer. it was so peaceful and Awesome there! those were great times in my life :)
this song always makes me happy ,reminds me of the joy of the times I use to have
Absolute heavenly elation! Gorgeous, lovely, child like. It conveys a higher reality with nothing to worry about.
I remember this as a young child growing up in Wisconsin. Absolutely loved it. They used this as theme music for a local outdoors and fishing show in my hometown in the early 70's.
What an amazing song!!!!!!! Smile on my lips........and a very good feeling in my heart 🙂
Happy feeling alright, takes me back. great memories.......best music ever!
Good tune, I was born in 1959 and watched Sandy Becker on Channel 5 out of NYC and this song brings me back. Thanks for sharing it.
Bert was brilliant. All his instrumentals are inspired.
I get that happy feeling whenever I listen to this music
Happiness indeed 😁🥰😍😇
Dear. Bert. Kaempfert. I have. Always. Loved. You're. Music. This Track. Would Have to be there. A mung. The greatest hits of. All. Time
Beautiful song, beautiful your country!
Beautiful video and ofcourse Bert Kampfert is the perfect accompaniment
This is so nice to hear and to remember how being in love is when one is young For me love is that happy feeling. The rhythm is great and the tune very nice to hear. Every instrument is played at the precise moment and the chorus is very good too. So it is very nice to hear.
I finally found this song!
I was in HS in Lancaster, PA, 1960-63, when this one and others of HK's songs came out. They were all faves and still are!
Bert Kaempfert ist einfach großartig. Fantastische Instrumentalnummer. Tolles Video. Dankeschön!
Great track
Beautiful the snow and the road it goes to anywhere in the USA!!!!!!!
Thanks for this ever green piece of music
great thanks for the memories just thinking of my mom and dad in our living room with his reel to reel and living the perfect life
This song brings back numerous memories. When I was in the Navy stationed at Guantanamo Bay in 1964, this was the the Radio Station Theme song, we heard it every morning when they came on and every evening when they signed off..Have to admit FTG GTMO WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED
Joyful happy music masterpiece !!! sorry Bert ,today they just cant compete !!
I love this video. I have a weird memory of our family driving home from Regina to Estevan, Saskatchewan, when I was a kid in the mid-60s and this great song on the radio, as I dreamily watched the snowy landscape going by.
I got that feeling when we driven Icefeeld- Parkway couple of years ago from calgary to jasper.
Hello: Then there is a quotation that matches here: "Life has certain moments that are worth more than full years" Thanks for posting this uplifting melody by that soon-late musician.
excellent made my day!!!!! Thank you... I really needed that
I found this song on my brother's Uher tape recorder upon his return home after serving in the army stationed in Germany, late 1963. Jim is gone now but this song reminds me of what a wonderful human being he was.
Lo escuchaba como Cortina Musical de un programa radial, era en Radio Austral de Valdivia(Chile🇨🇱). Era esas tardes mientras hacia mis tareas alrededor de las 4.00 hr y mi abuela escuchaba esa emisora.
Reminds my of my grandad he was a bit free and he always played this really load .Don't think Brenda next door was to pleased . Happy memories wish I could turn the clock back . Sad
PERFETTO !
un gran bel video ad accompagnare un brano di tanti ricordi interpretato in modo magistrale.
Complimenti !
😊😸🇮🇹👌👍💯💯💯
I have loved the song ever since. Sandy Becker who died in 1996, had a skit on his show called Norton Nork, dressing as another character. He uses this song. Spent years looking for it and found it on-line in 2003 when the songs of his show were listed on IMDB.com. I do remember HOA on WABC radio in NY as well. Enjoyed your video. Worth more than a lot of junk I see on youtube. You get an award from me. THANKS! Like the live version on utube as well...
OMG, Herb Oscar Anderson, I have not heard that mentioned in 60 years. Thanks
Love this! Thinking of moving to Phoenix and it just ocoured to me I will be close to Flagstaff, a town I truly love! Thank you!
This music makes my heart fly.
Winterspiele 1984 in Sarajevo. Rudi Cerne beim Eiskunstlauf 👍👍👍👍👍🙋♂️🙋♂️

Musica hermosa k me transporta a otro mundo
I love listening to Bert Kaempfert. My Mother had the Longein collection. I wore them out listening to them. I always liked all kinds and styles of music. Sence I was a like. I like rock and roll and classical music. I listened to all of them. And I still do. On UA-cam i can listen to all of them.
My late dad's song......how I long to be with him again. I used to put my feet on his feet while dancing with him. He was my hero.
Just beautiful, life could be like that
From the good days of life.
Thx for posting, great musician
중고등학생시절에 듣던 바로 그음악이군요~! 그시절로 다시 돌아가고 싶사옵니다.
This melody is excellent and the video is so well made I had to put on my jacket whilst seeing it and watching the snowy landscape. Over here it is somewhat cold too and that enhanced the effect. This tune has been one of my favorites since I was a teenager. Very good to hear really.
Simple yet totally captivating...
