meadydoheny. Have you been watching his channel for a while? Mariano as far as I can tell has consistently been winning and moving up stakes. Building up his bankroll. Sucks to take a shot at a bigger game and be card dead or run into big hands. At least he still showed it. That’s class in my books.

Great work Mariano. Really enjoyed it - the honesty and transparency in your narrative makes this must-watch vlogging. You will get them next time I'm sure. I mean, considering everything, there’s always that possibility that it was foolish to play in this game. Everybody seems to give everybody credit for “shot taking “, but if it’s not perfectly in line with the way things should flow, it could be spewing.

I truly like your poker blogs and admire your monologues as you explain each hand. That being said, I also think you speak quite eloquently; much more so than a poker player! And your abilities with the camera are good too! I think you should look into being a director or producer as apposed to being a poker blogger!!!

Mario another really good vlog. I was rooting for you so hard. I was anticipating this vlog because of the jump in stakes. I respect your game and think you should try them again in that game. You will end up getting them. Keep pushing Brother and cant wait for the next one
Your analysis that there is only one combination of QJ suited is brilliant. I know it’s tough in the moment, and I’m sure I don’t have to even say it, but it makes total sense that he has 99 in that spot given the preflop action. As you said, it’s only 77, 88, 99, 1010, really.
Congrats on staking up. Happens(ed) to me too everytime. Just gotta view it as "getting it out of the way," or with an analogy, hitting your shins with bricks to build the bone in mixed martial arts
@@MarianoPoker sure watching you lose money sucks, but you will grow into the game just like 2/5 and 5/10. Love your analysis and can't wait to watch you crush at 10/20 too!
A few lessons learned from beating mid-stakes, especially in Vegas: 1. When you make small c-bets without a made hand, and then find yourself checking two streets because you didn't improve, you are just giving money away...not to mention you become extremely exploitable. Either make larger c-bets (e.g., 75%-100% pot), check-raise, or just check-fold and cut your losses. Don't make small flop bets, even with the nuts, especially multi-way, and definitely not when out of position. 2. If you are going to take passive post-flop lines, then you are generally better off check-calling more and c-betting less. You keep the pot smaller, can catch your opponent bluffing, and can take stabs (i.e., apply pressure) on the River vs. the Flop if the situation allows. Bloating the pot on the flop without a made hand, out of position, is a losing strategy, especially when you don't improve and then show weakness. At that level, your small c-bets are going to get called every time. 3. Nobody is forcing you to play hands like AQ and AJ. No shame in folding those preflop. Don't force the action and build big pots with hands like those preflop, especially in EP. Instead, either fold or take a passive line. If you don't smash the flop, you can just fold to aggression. Or, you can exploitatively bluff your opponents on later streets if they themselves show weakness and/or the board texture supports the story that you played a trappy line with a very strong made hand (e.g., two pair, sets, trips, boats, straights, etc.). Especially at 10/20, the regs and grinders pride themselves on making tight folds, especially to players they consider to be nitty. But your story better make sense, and don't try to bluff the whale. He'll call you just to see it. 4. Most importantly! Have a pre-flop limping range from EP and MP. This is very different than lower stakes, including 2/5, where limps and min-raises are just pot sweeteners for all the ragged hands to call. Same for min-raising. For example, 75% of the time, limp or min-raise all suited Aces, pocket pairs 7 and lower, 78s, and JTs. The other 25% you can standard raise or just fold. Likewise, 25% of the time limp or min-raise AA, KK, QQ, JJ, and AKs,. If you get raised, you re-raise AA, KK, QQ, and A5s. You can either call or fold the other hands...depending on the raise, your position, and how many other players are in the hand. Never limp or min-raise 8's - 10's. Just raise those directly, or flat if raised to you. You're playing those hands strictly to win the blinds or set-mine anyway. 5. When taking stabs at bigger games, play tighter than you normally would. It's better to get exploited and learn from it than try to run over a table of players with bigger bankrolls and a lot more experience. You could fold every hand except for AA, pay your time rake, and just learn from watching and being in the flow. That'll go a lot further than booking a huge loss early in your career. If you do these things, you'll minimize losses when you are running badly, and you'll win more when you are running well.
One thing I think you have to appreciate, whenever you move up a pay grade, is that it’s literally moving up a division. Some of the faces form the previous price range may be there, but the competition is just that next level. The good 5-10 players may join in on 10-20 sometimes. But they’re mediocre. Those 10-20 guys can be sharks. Dealing with pots the size some guys take home from work each day. They play those within 3-5 minutes. But playing with better competition forces you to get better. Mariano plays pretty well on the smaller tables. Not perfectly or amazingly. But pretty well. Seems to generate consistent $500 profits. Which work out it sounds like to about $50 an hour. Not too bad. Where his weakness lies, and is highlighted in this vlog. Is that he seems to play a much stricter gto style. Playing hands like you woukd on the trainer. That’s good. But at higher stakes, with guys who know gto well. They then will add a meta game. This guy plays strict gto. Suggesting his range is x,y,z from his sizing. My hand sucks, but if I bet this, he will interpret my hand as this. That is the beauty of playing higher stakes. They force you to hone your game even more. Otherwise you will lose a lot.
Thanks again for the vlog sir. Looks to me you played well enough, did some solid hand analysis afterwards, also had some very understandable negative thoughts ('level higher always a bad session') because of the results you had. Full confidence - based on the content of all your previous videos - you will also succeed at these higher stakes. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the entertainment!
Damn Mariano, I’m in the middle of the worst downswing of my poker career, and watching this vlog was painful. Glad to see that you handled it like a boss! Keep crushing!
Nice growth in your playing. You’re doing very well. “Warning “ though... you need to avoid what is known as “winners tilt “ . It happens when you get a serious bump to your bankroll/ bad beat. Shake it off and focus. Get up take a short walk or end the session unless you’re up to playing through it. My longest session was 17 hours at the bike . Played through the bad of being stuck $1700 to winning $ 1400 . Then got up and cashed out.
As always another great SHORT FIlM, always enjoy your vlog films. Nothing wrong with taking that up shoot in limits. Just too bad the session went the way it did. Wouldn't have been so bad if it had been a little of back and forth. Nothing wrong with the 2-5 or the 5-10 at the Bellagio to get that $ back.
Technically speaking mr pocket 3’s was the favourite in that all in. His offer to run it twice was actually quite polite. Your odds were about 46-54 give or take a rare split pot. Considering the stack that was already comitted though and any other seperate bets or dead money, You could have been getting good or better odds on your own money.
Hey man great to see you moving up in the stakes. Congrats! I'm not looking to pry into your situation specifically but could you provide/does anyone here have any indication as to how many buy ins you should aim to have in your bankroll before you play at a specific level? I read once you should aim to have around 100 buy ins so if you wanted to play $1/$2 you should have at least $20k. But this was for online so maybe live is a bit more lenient? Way less hands per hour/live players often softer than online etc.
@@MarianoPoker Seems reasonable. I guess otherwise you'd take bad beats too personally and play as "scared money" etc. One of the toughest parts of moving up the stakes seems to be the ability to continue treating your chips as just that: chips. Once you start thinking about how many hours you'd have to work in a normal job to make this call or that bluff, you're probably too high. Keep up the good work. Your editing is top quality.
This video will only make you more likeable. A session like this many people can relate to. Anyone who thinks they can play the nosebleeds, watch this video. These guys don't play around and don't make many mistakes. That being said, you are good enough for 10-20.
I thought your play overall was fine. Just some very unfortunate run outs. Keep your head up, Mariano...... you'll get it back and then some! Love the videos.
One of my deepest wishes is to see you play rampage at some point. You two are the same age, play the same stakes, and have the same amount of subs. And yet, you would absolutely crush him.
Hi Mariano: so you only ran it once on that last hand? After you flopped a set and he went runner runner flush, he prolly would have hit a 3 outer set on the 2nd board, but still... to reduce variance (as in your first run it twice hand) did you guys run it twice? Like your "Straddle." tee. I follow DGAF too... Chin up. Hope your next vlog is of a "sun run". Cheers.
Your doing great hopefully I can reach that level. I want to reach 2/5 live by the end of 2021. Then 5/10 by 2022 and so on. I’m still in 2/2. I already watched upswing poker course. My goal is to grow and be one of Mexico’s 🇲🇽 top poker players in the future. I live in Florida. Wish me luck .
Good vid bro, it is definitely different, playing 10/20 but just like 5/10, after a few more times playing you'll figure it out and start making good gains, our style of play is very Similar which is why I really enjoy your vids, keep up the great work....
Sometimes no matter how you play, and no matter what cards you get….you just can’t seem to win many hands! I’ve had sessions like this one where I get so many good hands and they either completely WHIFF or I finally flop something decent and get out flopped or drawn out on 🙄

Yes, I think he has good points.
I was in Vegas this same weekend, missed out! Won a tournament at the flamingo
Nicely done
Thanks again for the vlog sir. Looks to me you played well enough, did some solid hand analysis afterwards, also had some very understandable negative thoughts ('level higher always a bad session') because of the results you had. Full confidence - based on the content of all your previous videos - you will also succeed at these higher stakes. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the entertainment!
Thank you!
Damn Mariano,
I’m in the middle of the worst downswing of my poker career, and watching this vlog was painful. Glad to see that you handled it like a boss! Keep crushing!
Thanks!
You're a brave man. Sorry for your loss, you'll get em next time. Thanks for the blog, great production value.
Should A10 suited really fold pre that hand around 7 mins? I’m trying to get better so please help me out
Facing an open and a re-raise, it's probably best to mostly fold ATs, and sometimes mix in a raise
A10-AQss hands villain should continue by cold 4 betting oop. Flatting was bad
Hey brudda, keep your head up! I’m sure you’ll have better luck next time! Mariano Poker OP 🔥
This is crazy to see the progression from 1/3 to this!
Thanks for the great content as always man! Love the shot take, even if it didn't go well. You'll definitely get em next time!
Thank you
As always another great SHORT FIlM, always enjoy your vlog films.
Considering the stack that was already comitted though and any other seperate bets or dead money,
You could have been getting good or better odds on your own money.
Dude, you need to come to the Texas card house in Dallas! It's playing 9 handed and The action is ridiculous!
Action sounds good, 9-handed sounds like a nightmare
Tough beat Mariano but it happens.. all part of the game.. been there too.. u will get them next time!
I think to play 10/20 on the regular you need at least 250K
That being said, you are good enough for 10-20.
well played. im not sure about the AJ 3bet pre but other than that...
I thought your play overall was fine. Just some very unfortunate run outs. Keep your head up, Mariano...... you'll get it back and then some! Love the videos.
Thanks man!
Wow, that some serious "runbad"... That's so frustrating when you're taking a shot. Keep grinding my friend
Amazing quality as usual. Sorry the results weren’t good.
How did you move the stakes so fast?
Just put my name on the board for other games
What calculation did you use to compute 40% pot value bet on river with the AJ hand?
My uncle pio told me
One of my deepest wishes is to see you play rampage at some point. You two are the same age, play the same stakes, and have the same amount of subs. And yet, you would absolutely crush him.
so presumptuous with that last statement
Hi Mariano: so you only ran it once on that last hand? After you flopped a set and he went runner runner flush, he prolly would have hit a 3 outer set on the 2nd board, but still... to reduce variance (as in your first run it twice hand) did you guys run it twice?
Like your "Straddle." tee.
I follow DGAF too...
Chin up. Hope your next vlog is of a "sun run".
Cheers.
I feel your pain bro, but what a great brutally honest vlog. Hope you crush them next try. Your vlogs are great, I always enjoy your video's. Thx, Wes
Thanks man
So how would you rate the level or competition between 5/10 and 10/20?
videos are getting even better keep grinding. How did you finish 2020?
It was amazing
Is there a max buy-in for the 10-20 game?
No
The way he controls his emotions is just amazing. I seen vlogrs who are up set and angry after a poker game.
In my experience it just had to do with bankroll percentage
Your doing great hopefully I can reach that level. I want to reach 2/5 live by the end of 2021. Then 5/10 by 2022 and so on. I’m still in 2/2. I already watched upswing poker course. My goal is to grow and be one of Mexico’s 🇲🇽 top poker players in the future. I live in Florida. Wish me luck .
Good vid bro, it is definitely different, playing 10/20 but just like 5/10, after a few more times playing you'll figure it out and start making good gains, our style of play is very Similar which is why I really enjoy your vids, keep up the great work....
Thanks man I'll try
GOTTA LOVE THE FUN CROWD!!!
Keep grinding man. Your rise in stakes is impressive and I admire the attitude.
Thanks Mike!
Sometimes no matter how you play, and no matter what cards you get….you just can’t seem to win many hands! I’ve had sessions like this one where I get so many good hands and they either completely WHIFF or I finally flop something decent and get out flopped or drawn out on 🙄
Dude is legit movie director zone, channel well done gg
