Watching this excellent video brought it all back to me just how damaging and punishing the lock down was. In truth, I don’t think many of us realise how much damage it has done us, I think we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg in the knock on effects on our mental health. I am back enjoying fly fishing again, but I still don’t want to socialise, go in pubs or on holiday yet. Fishing is my holidays now. Look forward to hearing other fly fishers views on this.
graet video, i fished Rutland for the first time last year and loved it, cant wait to come back.....what flies where you using in this video....cheers...
Superb Leigh So much action and on offs !! Fished the boils a good few years back with my mate Guy , we had endless amounts on vampire Fritz blobs , went single fly as so many doubles !! Arm killed on the drive back to the toon Videos like this getting through this drastic period , the thought of missing the buzzers is to much !!! 😱😱
thanks for watching , yes some people scoff at anglers who fish the boils but can be the saving grace on a tough day! would not fish them all day but if your struggling have an hour on the boils to lift your spirits before moving on to another area and try a different method or some new patterns??? can't wait to get back out! driving me and Trevor mad being stuck in as I'm sure it is for everyone of us! done the garden done the decorating , dreaming of those silver slabs at Grafham leaping out of the water as they feel that buzzer pull tight into there scissors
Love the videos-you really bring out the fun in the sport! Fished the boils at Bewl a couple of years ago and only had a couple of touches. You show how it should be done!
Thanks for taking the time to watch Mark, I do have a guiding service now if your interested 'Leigh pond fly-fishing services, we are now back up and running after the lock down!!
No, love skating a booby over the top on a floating line an seeing explosive takes and follows!! can be a great bit of fun for an hour, especially if you are having a slow day on the lake and you need a confidence boost, nice to go there and pretty much know you are going to get your string pulled! where do you normally fish? and how are you coping with no fishing in the lock down?
@@leighpond5928 Normally fish Rutland and Graham and love spell over the boils but I was always been told to fish it with a sinking line. Makes sense really to use a floater if you see fish on the surface 👍. Doing fine with regard to lockdown however looking forward to getting out to cast a line. Thanks for reply, looking forward to seeing some more large still water content in the future.
thanks for watching Chris, can't wait to get back out on the water! going to have a week off when we are allowed , one day at Grafham one at Rutland one at Pitsford one at Draycote and one at Elinor lol
The videos are good but may be greatly improved if you could give the viewers a bit of a clue as to where you are fishing, what set ups you are using ie line, leader strength and length number of droppers, flies used on the point, droppers etc, otherwise we’re just watching a bloke catch fish which becomes a bit boring and pointless after a while!
We normally do David but if you look at the introduction to this one it was made up of small clips that we did not use on the main films, if you look at 'The washing line' or 'The controversial bung ' it gives a lot more in depth instruction on the set ups ect. thanks for taking the time to watch and for your constructive input David hope you have had the chance to get out on the water? Leigh
