- How to skim a ceiling. I had already over-boarded the old bathroom ceiling and now it's time to get it skimmed. The skim was a little too thick and I also left it a little too long before I flattened the second coat. If you don't get your timings right doing this job you could have to do extra skim coats.

Good idea with the magnet and the lathe nails. I just smashed a few holes in from above aha. Great job on the ceiling, picked up a few tips for some walls & ceilings I'm skimming this weekend! Always found having a helper makes plastering vastly easier and quicker, not necessarily for mixing but just things like getting plaster out the bucket onto the hawk, getting tools clean while you mix up. Less up and down ladders and less crap on your tools!

Thanks Ash that means a lot from a pro. There are a few mistakes and it's not perfect, but I was going to do a follow up video with close ups.

i have had a few goes at plastering, but cant seam to get a decent finish, always needs sanding down :-( got to do a bit of bonding tomorrow, I knocked down my kitchen pantry, so need to tidy up the edge of the bricks and I will have to skin the little bit of celling.
Just check and make sure your trowel is flat along the edges. And make sure you flatten that second coat before it gets too hard. You should just be able to leave a finger print in it when it's ready to flatten the 2nd coat.
What is the skin bath I don't know if you know plz understand to me
The round bit on the ceiling did u bond it out or used skim I noticed it was done before u started to skim also did u pva the round bit please reply
I presume you mean the ceiling roll where it angles down. Yes I used PVA then filled with bonding coat.
Hi mate, did you use Ms board or regular plasterboard?
Just regular plasterborad.

@@LCWDIY Sorry for all the questions mate but you're bathroom install vids are really coming in handy. I'm just about to cut the channels for the shower and need to set up some pipe work like you've shown in your other video. I've literally watched them about 30 times 😂 👍🏻
