Alena Kostornaia is Russia’s secret weapon this year. She’s been under the radar but she’s the one that’s getting the closest to Trusova. She’s the most well balanced skater right now.
I agree. Kostornaia is my favorite of any of the Russian ladies, I am so excited about her. The girl can perform and her jumps are so strong and beautiful, I really can't wait to see her develop through the seasons, I have a feeling she's one whose going to be on the scene for a long time.
It was secret for you. In Russia Alena was in focus of public attention last 3 years. This year was the only secret if she has stable 3A or not. Her body was changing. Some worries about her stability were discussed in internet.
Tatyana Zhebentyayeva it wasn’t secret for me. I’ve known about her for years. But her senior debut has definitely gone under the radar compared to the other two because she was injured at the last part of last season and then she came out full force. If she keeps it up she could legitimately beat Sasha when they go head to head.
I would argue that Rika Kihira is slightly stronger in the well-balanced department, but we'll wait for judgement at NHK when they face off and hopefully, Rika has recovered from her injury. But surely, Alena is definitely one of the skaters to keep your eye on this season.
Nicholas Liu the only thing Rika does better than Alena is the triple axel. But that’s mainly because that jump is brand new for Alena. And this is coming from someone who loves watching Rika.
Does anyone else find Alena's tano just...divine? I know people have complained about no full extension tanos but even she makes it somehow crazy elegant looking.
Lots of moments this week. Kostornaia's fantastic skate, Zagitova's Olympic moment when she went for the Loop on the second Lutz, Mariah Bell getting the gold medal by mistake and ceremoniously giving it to Kostornaia (LOL!).
Alina was a bit tense, but is understandable, Alena was there! I also loved Alina’s smile for her second place, didn’t cry or made faces, she is so intelligent and mature👏👏❤️❤️💐💐🌹🌹
I think it's because her "dethroning" came slow, subtle and gradually, didn't happen abruptly and unexpectedly as in the case of Medvedeva, so she had time to get used to it. She had her moment, won all there was to win and can now continue as a senior skater, who is still very good technically and much better artistically. I guess in two years, we will witness Valieva dethroning Trusova, and so on, it's a cycle no one can stop any more.
Amy Garcia being gracious is easy when you’ve accomplished all you could ever hope to accomplish and won everything there is to win, of course. She’s the reigning Olympic champion.. who cares about a gold medal at ”Internationaux de France.” She knows better than anyone that by the time 2022 rolls around, Kostornaia will most likely be ancient history.
@@a9029k no, being gracious is a character trait, whether you win or lose. When you win, you take your victory with grace and dignity, when you lose you remain gracious and poised.
Zagitova was really great in her practices and runthroughs. Her jumps looked solid and I think that she got used to her new body now unlike last year. But when it comes to competition mode, I don’t know she was too focused on finishing her elements and was OFF-music (it started from the camel spin til the end of the program) that’s why she looked rush. She needs to synchronized herself more with the music. Other than that she’s still an amazing skater! We stan her ❤️❤️
@Ananda Patricia In my opinion the ice quality really effected her. She needs a good friction to perform the LzLo and that combination mistake effected the whole program timing so she looked rushed. The ice quality in Japan will be much better I think so we will have the chance enjoy the quality of the programs.
Another thing, with Zagitova she may not be getting the marks she's used to getting but this is the first time she's looked genuinely happy with her programs and seems to enjoy skating them too. she looks like she's skating because she loves too and not just skating for a gold medal. she might be realizing that her time at the top is coming to an end soon which is sad for her but it is a reality
Maybe, I thought it might be because she's world champion now. Last year she wanted to prove herself and she did. Now that she did she can relax and enjoy skating.
Ekaterina Galkina not really “realizing that her time at the top is coming to an end soon” but more like “realizing that she has won every thing imaginable and has reached every goal she has ever set in figure skating”
Dave, you are so wrong! Those colors are 100% 80's! Jonathan is right, pastels were in (and neon) not really primary colors! That shade of pink P&C are wearing was so popular, it was even one of my classes "senior colors" in 1984! "Seafoam Green" was also super popular. Ask you mom. Lol.
Yeah, I didn't see that, but of course workout gear came in many colors. Mostly boring people like me wore the conservative colors. Lol. These colors (light pink/seafoam green) were such trendy, only in the 80's colors. I mean, you'd probably never have seen someone wear BOTH the colors Gabby wears, at the same time, but that's why it's clever & cheeky. Red & blue are such common colors for skatung costumes. Yellow not so much, except Candyman! 🥺
Alina just had one so so competition this season..and you guys think that’s it she should give up?! Come on She had a great Japan open and Russian open skate and her training has been top notch this season.
alex8matt don’t worry they hate Alina, she was second in this competition with an amazing skate and they say she should retire... how biased are they wtf
@@annatata1234 she didn't have an amazing long, she fell and some of her jumps were under rotated but were not called. Clearly they are not biased, she didn't skate well and is competing against three 16 year old machines who are winning everything. She doesn't have quads or triple axels so to compete against those girls will be very hard which is what they are saying. If those girls skate clean and Alina skates clean then Alina is 4th, which means she is out.
I happen to love Kostornaias fs and she really sells the story and concept of Bella from twilight. however, I certainly think she is capable of more and the music cuts are out of control and doesn't flow well at all
I want Chock and Bates to win nationals so badly! I’m sick of H/D, with or without their crap programs. It’s looking more and more likely and I’m so excited, especially if they clean their finnstep up
To me Gaby and Guillaume are not pretentious at all. They are innovating! They are bringing the audience to a new, often overlooked, realm of emotional experience. They are bringing post modern contemporary art into figure skating. We haven't seen anything like that in figure skating. If something is superficial but trying to be not, that's pretentious. They are not pretentious because they are not superficial at all, but rather they have uncanny emotional depth.
I'm in the minority- I love Pavliuchenko/Khodykin. He's chill and calm, giving that pep talk before each skate(love), and she is all business- no smiling for her. I love them the way I loved Sui/Han back when they were sloppy little kids and almost everyone hated their skating, except stylistically P/K are more like little Stolbova/Klimov with a better twist. That said, I can't wait for S/H next week.
Dave, I bet you that Alina will be in the world team and will win gold or silver in worlds¡¡¡¡ AND im very good in predictions, last year when you talk about Zagitova in Nationals and Europeans i said, IM SURE SHE WILL WIN WORLDS, and im feeling the same this year, idk why, but im sure gold or silver in worlds
Than who do you think won't go to World's? Kostornaya or Sherbakova? I mean just look at those scores that they pull at the beginning of the season. I mean I like Alina Zhenya and Liza but let's be honest here, if the three former juniors skate clean, they are going to sweep the podium and there is nothing the other girls could do. I mean Liza has the triple Axels, but she doesn't have the components. Neither do Anna or Sasha but they have the quads, and Sasha's technical score for her last event was 100.20 and that was with a fall on the salchow. Imagine what she can do when she skates a clean free program. And Alena has the same amount of triple Axels as Liza does, but unlike Liza she also has the PCS going for her.
Although that is true and Alina can get 155+ for free skate and 80 something for her short, it is still not enough to be on the Russian podium this season. Because these girls here, they can pull close to 80 (or in Alena's case 80), in the short and they already got 160+ in the free, and their season has just started. Those scores will definitely grow and if they skate clean which is very likely, I don't think they are going to let anybody else on that podium. Even if Alina wins the short the point difference in the free will be to big to make up for. Just look at Rika and Trusova, she won the short by 6 points or something, than lost the free by 18. And she is actually much more consistent this season than she was in the last. I think Alina is looking at the fourth place, Zhenya fifth (if she doesn't have another meltdown), and Liza 6th.
@@lenavinogradova950 Reed my comment again, i said no, i dont think they are gonna be clean in worlds.... for me the world team is gonna be Sasha-Alena-Alina and Alina will win gold or silver in Worlds..... again you have your opinion and its ok, come back to this in march ((i repeat im very good in predictions about Alina, last year i said she is not winning GPF, nationals and i said im sure she wins worlds.... this year i see the same history))
I also think we’ll see Alina at worlds. If we were able to see Evgenia there last year after that awful season she had I see no reason why they won’t send Alina. This competition wasn’t her best but it wasn’t nearly as bad as how TSL described it. I heard them describing it and I was expecting a train wreck like what we’ve sometimes seen from Alina and then went to watch it and it was a hand down on a lutz. That’s hardly a disaster.
Poor Shoma-I hope he figures things out and makes it work. His FS sounded like an emotional Yuri on Ice number about trying to get your career together, so maybe it’s about time he gets drunk at a banquet and gets a Russian hottie to be his coach... 😬
I'm with Jonathan on P&C! I feel this free dance more than last year's & those costumes for the rhythm dance are PERFECT! :D :D Thank you for another great episode!!!!
Ok guys. I am French. And I find it funny that the music with the vocals on it for Papadakis & Cizeron's FD sounds pretentious for some. I understand it can feel strange or not your style. It is maybe a different sensitivity some may have (or not) to view it as "pretentious". I just see it as "very emo". Now wether you can let yourself feel that kind of "emo" is another thing. Some won't just abandon themselves to that kind of sensitivity or feelings. In my opinion you have to be very confident with your emotions to abandon yourself in that program without feeling shame, weakness or boredom, feeling it is ridicuslously emo or pretentious then. And that's what I like about P&C. They go for it. I don't think they are pretentious for skating to such soundtrack but just that not everybody is willing to let themselves dive into that kind of atmosphere. Sometime it can feel too emo to take. But sometimes it looks so light and sensitive. You have to be in the mood that will get you appreciate their artwork.
man i gotta say, I don't even watch Dance category but I LOVED this program. I always find time to watch Papadakis and Cizeron and they always come up with something new and intriguing. I was touched by their FD :)
The French are known for pushing things artistically. This music is an example of this. At first I thought "eye roll", but then I began to like it. It also helps give musical form to the program. Also, you will never forget this program, and one of the reasons is the music they put together for it.
I was there in Grenoble and I wouldn't change a thing about P/C's costumes. These are not light pastels, they really pop. And, gosh, don't they look absolutely increadible. I don't know which one is sexier, him or her. The moment their group entered the ice at the practice and we saw the costumes for the first time, my god! People were actually screaming in delight. I wasn't too sure about the FD at first, but seeing it in person was just mindblowing. People were clapping after the lifts and so on, but other than that you could have heard a pin drop. But Dave is totally entitled to say he is not emotionally touched yet, everyone feels such art differently and that's what is cool about it. I'm just saying that I stopped breathing for those 4 minutes. Lol Jonathan rubbing in they won the FD at the olympics! :D
I pointed that out earlier in the year when I saw some of his jumps. He was landing so heavy that his knees just looked like they were going to disintegrate.
@@garysimmons1485 Yes it was the entries. Axis was way off and off in a different way every time. I am a fan and it worries me. He needs a coach and a good technical advisor. He will be back in form in no time with the right team.
Who the f** are both of you to say that Alina Zagitova should retire? She is just 17 yo one year older than Kostornaia. The performance she did in both short and free were amazing. She is so enjoyable to watch ✨✨✨
everybody knows she's going to have a harder and harder time getting out of Russia as the younger girls come up; this is an issue and the reality for every single Russian Senior Lady, which is why the speculation about retirement keeps coming up for all of them, not just Zagitova. If they skated for any other country, it wouldn't be an issue, but with the field so deep in Russia, it's not stupid to be thinking early on about what your life after skating is going to look like.
@@iris7484 thanks, you gave a clear and realistic answer and yes, that is the reality for every Russian senior lady, not only Zagitova, in 2 years, this is likely to happen to the quad girls, who will be replaced by Valieva, etc.
@Lucky gem exactly. There's just a lot of uncertainty in this corner of the skating world, so in my opinion, I would like to see Zagitova keep skating, because I really like the calm, confident energy she's bringing this year which I didn't get from her before. And it's also smart to consider her options for the future, and whether retiring at the top is going to broaden those horizons, and how waiting to retire and being gradually pushed off the podium could affect them. It's impossible to know the future, so (and I'm sure she knows this), she has some difficult questions in front of her about what she wants out of life. Everyone faces those questions, and she just has some special circumstances to consider.
In Russian Nationals only 1st and 2nd automatically guarantee the spots in World team. The last spot is decided by Russian figure commettie ( by colleague of coaches). So even though Zagitova finishes 4th in National she could be elected for a 3rd spot ( if she shows clean performance with solid jumps). Or she could be taken to European Championships and 3rd place in Nationals will be sent to Worlds.
@Nathaniel Walker agree. But who knows what the commettie will come up with. In my opinion too 3As for a current moment are more preferred for Worlds team.
The only one I can see them replacing is Anna because they could argue that gold at her gp assignments was easier won than silver at Alinas. They won't replace Sasha and, unless she bombs at gpf/nationals, they can't justify replacing Alena if she beats Alina at both gp.
Maybe skaters who have achieved certain results during the season should automatically qualify for worlds, regardless of their nationalities. And then the countries who don't have a skater who qualified could send whoever they want. Because if you win a world championship without Alina, Alena, Sasha or Anna, you aren't really the best in the world...
🤭 You guys dislike Alina 👑🥇 and yet, you need her name in your UA-cam thumbnails. Even if you talk about her for 2min. in order that you can be heard! Also, if she decides to retire, she will do with a forever crown. Her name will be remembered in all generations! Luv 💗U guys 🤗!!!
@@garysimmons1485 It was known since Worlds '19 her time is over, nothing new about it. Indeed, Zagitova is not their cup of tea. Listen to their antagonistic snarky comments from other videos towards Eteri's girls. Except for Kostornaia.
@mish098aimer you are under every comment that confronts creators of the video about their obvious biases and dislikes for certain skaters. If they pretend to know FS, they at least should try to be a bit more professional and leave biases for night bed talk in private. They dont need you to defend them under every comment. The fact that there are so many people noticing certain pattern and moods in the video says a lot. Whether intentional or not, that what is being delivered through the screen. Bias, bias, bias.
@mish098aimer Biasly bashing someone in a "oh mah gahwd, she needs to retiiire", and objectively going over certain errors and details are two different things. Are you crazy? Look at Shoma's enormous pcs marks at this event (with numerous falls), Medvedeva's pcs (she doesn't even present her programs, she thinks only about jumps). Every skater with titles like Yuzuru, Nathan and so on get their high pcs in any situation. Why Olympic, World and European champion Alina shouldn't be given them? She did only one mistake in her free skate. She was skating with emotions, did all her choreography. It's a complete nonsense what you're saying.
Alina was OFF the music! I'm a musician so you can believe me .. Kostornaia deserves higher pcs than Alina, artistically she has more potential than Zagitova
@@elisams8030 You being musician doesn't mean everyone has to trust you in your judgement. I am musician as well and have no idea wth you are talking about.
Everyone wrote off Zagitova last year after RusNats but then she went on to win Worlds against Kihira's 3A. I think we're all forgetting the fact that Eteri's newcomers (Shcherbakova, Kostornaia and Trusova) aren't experienced with big competitions and that this year is their senior debut season. If they go to Worlds and don't do their jumps right under all that pressure, their chances for a gold are slim. Why is everyone so sure that the girls will be 100% clean with their quads and 3A's? Kostornaia incorporated her 3A two months ago, and I don't know if she's gonna be able to go in a toe-to-toe battle against Kihira's 3A. Behind the scenes, Kostornaia had a lot of trouble with her 3A during the practices, she just isn't quite there yet, and NHK is her real test - going against Kihira, a skater who's very similar to her. Also, RusFed can be very strict, they look for someone with confidence and endurance and I think that they're not going to send Shcherbakova, and possibly put Zagitova in the team for Worlds. // 20:09 Zagitova's first outing this season wasn't bad, she looked relaxed and in my opinion, taking a silver isn't automatically an achievement that leads to a career retirement.
Mariah was so calm, focused, toned, poised and honestly wonderful. I always liked her, but she showed her star quality here. She truly won the audience over during her free skate, not just as beautiful but as the whole damn package. Her confidence is amazing this season and I am so happy for her.
Dave, you slated Eteri for sending Zhenya to retire and have babies ( this was actually publicly denied by Zhenya) and after Shangahai trophy you were the one who gave a list of reasons why she should retire. Now after Zagitova has one bad skate ( please do not put it on the same par as Shoma, Zagitova did not fall five times) and here you are so fast telling her give up as well. Why I am surprised, you wanted Alina to retire after her winning worlds. So then can continue bad mouthing Eteri that she does not have older skaters and Zagitova is ruining the pic you are painting about Eteri.!For the person who is apparently “concerned” about skaters well being, you are very hypocritical and I hope neither Zhenya nor Alina ever listen to you. Zhenya and Alina will retire when they want to retire and not when you tell them to do so. PS I have not added Jonathan’s name here as he is the one out of two of you who actually has genuine empathy to skaters.
I totally agree with this sentiment, there is an obvious difference in the quality of comments coming from the two. It is even questionable how long it would be before one of the two has to retire because they could have fallen so far relative to the position of the other. Constructive opinion has place, over dramatisation and bias have none.
Abt Charlene and Marco it was a wow thing that they even were in France. He not so long ago had to undergo hand surgery because they had an accident and she cut his tendon in hand with the blade. So he is not able to bend his fingers and I don’t know if you noticed it’s a right hand so it’s basically his leading hand. They had to rework both dances a bit because he’s not able to perform most of the lifts. And they decided something like Thursday that they will go bc they wanted too.
I’m sorry I disagree about Scherbokova. I can’t get over the way she holds her feet - it looks so odd in spins, etc... I don’t know if I can describe it correctly
They have differences, of course. But Sasha Cohen was known for her artistry and musicality above all else. And the only one that comes close to that in many years is Shcherbakova. It's something we haven't seen in a very long time and it's very shocking and appreciated. She doesn't have amazing SS or perfectly straight legs, but it's the innate musicality that can't be taught or replicated.
@lawomann You've got to look past Anna's skating skills because they're not great. But look at the changes in her posture, movement of her body and arms, to the nuances in the music. And the changes in tension. Then listen to the music carefully - she's on every beat of it. She's not the actor type skater that we see from Alena and Alina (who are great at portraying characters and moods) but she feels the actual notes and nuances of the music. A great example is JGPF SP last year, where she botches all the jumps and messes up the spins, yet she's still on every beat of the music and the performance is still perfect. She changes the choreography to hit the next beat of music after she falls, it's instinctive and she's never playing catch up to the music.
@@evanperilstein5308 Difference of opinion then, because I've haven't seen anyone that reminded me of Sasha Cohen until I saw Anna's Dreamcatcher performance. I see a lot of Yuna Kim and Carolina Kostner in Alena, though. Yuna had the beautiful fluid arms and fingers. Of course Carolina had the skating skills and lyrical movements.
I can't get on the Scherbakova train. Every time she jumps I cringe. Her legs are so skinny, I'm afraid she's gonna jump one day and snap it in half (again!) Sasha Cohen was known for her flexibility... Scherbakova doesn't have that. Maybe if she gains a little weight I can appreciate her more. For now, Alena looks like the more complete package to me. Beautiful musicality, jumps, and SO SO light on her feet... and she doesn't look like she's going to break at any second :-)
I remember you objected to one of the comments in earlier episodes that said “The Americans always do that!” I thought your response was very reasonable. The more surprising it is to hear from you similar words about Russians and Canadians. Something about pot and kettle comes to mind ))
Zagitova had one non-perfect skate -- and you already talk about her retirement, this is ridiculous. Calling that fs a wreck is also very strange to me. I cannot help but notice that you always include Zagitova in the title of your videos, but never give her proper attention (less than freakin 2 minutes in the JO coverage lol), unless there is something to critisize her for, of course.
To me it’s the level of competition surpassing Zagitova. Without a 3A or quad can she keep up? Throw a bad skate on top of that and it drives the point further
I don't like the criticism about Alina , Zhenia and Elizaveta this season. Nobody needs to retire. Skating is about passion to this sport too. If the Quads and Axel girls scares so much to the point make another skaters got to force a early retirement, nobody should compete anymore. I think some people are just really overreacting. This is just progress, like when people said triples was too dangerous to girls and until today nobody dies.
I don’t think it’s because of her one bad skate. I think it’s just because of the level of talent the 3 girls brought. To go form being the olympic champion, to being beaten by 3 new comers SO FAST can’t be good for someone’s mental state. If she skated her best and all 3 of them also skate their best , the highest she can rank is 4th at an international competition, and that’s the highest, not including rika who has the potential to beat her. I always think you should try and push yourself to achieve more but sometimes you should know when to stop. If she has the passion to keep on going then she should not retire, but competing and being beaten so much, so fast, can ruin her passion for skating completely. Also I know I replied so late and there are new girls and Alina has retired but I’m just going to talk as if it’s still 2019
Mariah Bell has been hanging in there and battling it out for years. I hope it all comes together for her this season. Plus she has that classic beautiful figure skater look. I'm rooting for her and Bradie. And I hope to see a woman on top in the US, not a child.
@lawomann I really like Dave's theory about Mariah being fired up this season because of Enn-soo Lim. I really want to see her go for it no matter what her motivation is. I really love Bradie's, dare I say sexy SP. We haven't seen her like that before. It looks like both of these ladies are putting out their best this season. We haven't had it this good in the US since the Gracie/Ashley days. I want to see Bradie and Mariah hand out spankings all season long.

I feel like Haven’s skating skills and jumps would improve SO much if she could just bend her knees past a 5 degree angle. I’ve never seen anyone take off/land and do cross-overs on such straight legs before. I wish she would just bend them!
Loved your comment about Mariah Dave regarding the situation with Eun Soo. It’s quite obvious that the Koreans tried to sensationalize and accuse her for an honest minor mistake. Now she’s rising up and Eun Soo is barely floating this season.
@@TheSkatingLesson I may be taking this on a whole new personal level, but I don't understand why no one sits with him at the K&C given the vulnerability of the skater at that time, and he'd been coachless for almost half a year. I remember when JSF decided to send Yuzu to Orser back in 2014, so I don't understand why they don't do thesame to Shoma-send him to a coach that will fit him, unless he is very, very stubborn and want to do it alone. I just want to hug him🥺🥺
Did you ever consider Shoma is taking control of his career to his liking? Tons of other sports contain athletes who see their scores on their own. Then they move on. He might be loving his new freedom. We don’t know unless he comments on this.
@@TheSaintbx I was okay with that at the beginning, I know it might have been so painful for him to not be in the podium at the World's in his own country so he had to reevaluate his current status and his future. But it had been 6 mos! And the Fed should have intervened, that's why they were there in the first place, to make decisions for the good of their arhletes. We might have seen Shoma for several years in skating but he is still so young. I was on the verge of tears after his fs, and when I saw a hint of what could be tears running down his cheeks at the K&C where he was so alone, I admit, I lost my shit, and I need someone to blame. I went with the obvious-the JSF. I hope they do something ASAP.
Jonathan & Dave, I can never fully decide if you dislike Canadians or are jealous of them. I love when you talk about us Canadians as if we are all caricatures, and that Americans are not at all nationalistic.
Dave! "I think they can be pretentious and believe in what they are doing!" Absolutely! I live in NYC and I know a lot of people like that totally earnest in their pretentiousness.
Now that Zagitova is not at the top of Eteri’s pyramid anymore they should at least work on her posture and ss, her shoulders are always so high up/tense it looks like she doesn’t have a neck. I feel like they at least owe it to her.
I think it would be wise for Alina to continue through this quad if she wants to. She might not as she's already won everything, but it's important to note she hasn't lost her jumps (not like Yulia, Elena, and Evgenia did when the next crop came up) and still has some of the best spins and most difficult layout of the non quadters/3Aers. She's the 4th Russian right now, but also arguably 4th in the world. And the big advantage is she's through puberty where as the new seniors are not, and there are still several seasons to the olympics. She can improve slowly and may be presented with an opportunity should the others struggle. She's not in the place of Liza or Evgenia where it looks more impossible to come back on top. Kamila of course is a contender for the olympic season as well, but I don't really see a threat in Daria or Maiia (or Kanysheva, Sinitsina) as much.
@@TheSkatingLesson Not the way she skated here. It'll depend on how she skates in NHK - more like in France or more like Japan Open and test skates. If the mistakes she made in France become her normal, then it's problematic. But if this was the fluke and she's skating like she did at JO, I think she can match Rika (especially if Rika hasn't regained her lutzes). However even with the poor skate in France, she's still the 4th Russian doing better than Liza and Evgenia so an opportunity may present itself.
She already has chronic health issues, she doesn't need the added physical pressure of jumping quads. She's won everything, there's nothing to gain and everything to lose by forcing it, so just let her be happy and healthy until she decides she's done.
@@kcesca She doesn't have chronic health issues lol. She had Osgoode-Schattler which was during her growth spurt. She doesn't look like she's grown in a while, and she hasn't spoke about the pain recently

I hate anything 80s related but I loved EVERYTHING about this short dance (except for the last lift, that was a bit of a dud - I think they can do better). I loved the pink and blue and the fact that they weren't too matchy with Gui's pants and headband a few shades darker. Was it worthy of a WR? Probably not, their pattern wasn't the best and some parts were a little iffy ... Anyway their FD choreo was stunning but I'm not a fan of the spoken word ... I appreciate them trying to be their usual old contemporary selves, but it wasn't working for me
LOVED the debate about pretentiousness!! My bf and I had exactly the same debate about movies. He (who is a Madonna fan) called this obscure movie "pretentious." And I was like no honey, do you remember W.E.? THAT's pretentious, citing exactly the same argument Jonathan, you bought up here (intention, yada yada yada). Anyway Jonathan, I'm on your side!
How was P&C "trying to appear more than what they possess"?! Just saying'! adjective attempting to impress by affecting greater importance or merit than is actually possessed
@Sherbertkova Shcherbakova's edges are not deep, though she does more with her performance than Trusova, for sure. She gets her edges from her ankles, which gives the appearance of being deep, but has no weight and thus no power behind it, and allows her to avoid the issue of how to properly manage her center of gravity. It puts strain on her knees, hips, and lower back, so if she puts on any weight at all, it's going to manifest in injuries in these three areas. Sorry to go off like this, but the way she skates - quads aside - is going to damage her body. Trusova may not look better, but she is technically more sound.
@SkatingLesson Dave, I couldn't agree more with you about P/C. First of all I do love both programmes. You notice the work, the nuances, the interpretation, the timing, they are masterpieces (and I loved your comparison with Prince, because it is so on point: taking a pattern completely out of the expected... you do forgett it is a Finnstep!); yet, not having been my favourites before, last year they blew my mind. The TR is a programme I could watch forever, and the FD was one of my all time favourites, (and I am a huge V/M fan). And this year I notice their greatness, but it is not the same. BTW, I finally got what you mean by artsy in yout tw. I have to look that word up (an Spaniard living in Spain here) and the definitions where kind of contradictory: now I get what you meant, kudos)
I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the russian man, Anton Shulepov's Schlinder's list costume. Considering people were so heated about Satoko's first costume. This was borderline abhorrent
It's not fair to call their FD as pretentious. Each couple brings something new to the construction of the ice dance and P/C have clear objectives of leaving a different legacy. Is that why we must treat their programs as pretentious?. If we analyze objectively, this is a year without dangerous rivals for them and they could explore new horizons. If the head develop, the rest of couples follows. Maybe at the future we will watch programs with more interesting contents. Every year we're expecting more of them, well !!! For me, that's new and for that cheers!
You profound yourself an experts yet you treshtalk Alina again. Like, seriously, it wasn’t her best performances, but what about -5 goe for a LzLoop in the short? What about the created from the air edge calls? You say Mariah should be second. Truth is Alina should had a better margin from SP. PS: I’m extremely happy Mariah skated that great, because she is one of my favs in ladies field. But don’t say like she wasn’t awarded some extra points, because if the judges are so strict, she should get some unders and edge calls as well.
Isabella Nicolini. Alina was underscored! That’s the fact! When judges would have scored every other skater so as they judged Alina, then will be Aljona K first, Alina Z second, than a big big gap, ... and then might be Mariah Bell coming from the distance!
Dave, out of curiosity, have you ever worn Edeas? I always find your comments interesting about them freezing the ankles and looking bulky, as they probably allow for more ankle flexibility that any other brand of skate. They are extremely flexible in the ankle and loose at the top, allowing for pointed toes and good knee bend (and yes, I wear them). I do wish skaters wouls clean them more though! The dirty mesh on ice flies and pianos looks awful, I don’t understand why they don’t put some polish on them.
I've noticed the molding of the "toe box" part interrupts the line and makes the toes look less pointed compared to the traditional teardrop shape of leather boots.
In the interview that Alena gave saying that she probably retires at 21 years old is actually the way she's saying that many younger skaters with tricks up their sleeves are coming. So she's well aware of it. She is also probably shooting for 2022 Olympic team and eventually for OGM. I also like that she has love for other sport, i.e. equestrian. It gives her something to do besides skating and perhaps focus on it after she retires. Finger cross that she can achieve the dreams and goals she sets up before retiring.
Ladies: Kostornaia has the face and eyes to deliver a story line when performaning on ice. For her age, it is rare. Zagitova fought at her best. I noticed the short competitive life for ladies-Yulia Lipnitskaya shone in 2013-2014 season (only one season), Medvedeva was the queen for 2016-2017 (two seasons) before passed her crown to Zagitova (2018-2019, two seasons). I am wondering if any top girls in the future can remain at the top for more than 2 to 3 seasons. It does not matter on what techniques they need, they will only be in our eyes for 2 seasons anyway. It seems that the long competitive life of Yuna Kim, Mao Asada, and Katerina Witt will not likely to be seen in ladies’ field. Men: Excellent competition of Aymos, Nathan, I saw their determination to win over themselves with injuries. Uno, he was the best in terms of classic music interpretation. I hope he will recover from this collapse and he needs a coach. Dance: not impressive this time. Sorry for this comment. There is no pair like Meryl and Charlie, whom I followed for every competition for 2011-2014. Pair: Top three placements were rightly done by judges. However, I want to point out that Denney and Frazier were brilliant in overall packaging, they were the most connected pair between themselves and radiated their feelings to audience while executed relatively good techniques. The two Russian pairs executed the best quality in techniques, but particularly Mishina and Galliamov lack of emotions. Looking at the short of Mishina and Galliamov, they looked like two single skaters performed two different routines. The connection between these two in short seemed at the minimal. Thus I think Denney and Frazier were under-scored a bit in the short.
"Short competitive life for the ladies" -- well, SOME ladies. Specifically Russian and Japanese, because their talent pool is so deep and because they're pushing the technical edge to the point that girls are washed up once they hit puberty. It's a real shame, I think. Skating is turning into gymnastics before my eyes, and it's not a change for the better. So far we only have one of the prepubescent jumping beans in the US -- Alyssa Liu. But on the other hand we have Mariah Bell, performing better than ever at 23 even without a triple axel or a quad.
I thought my screen was glitching in the beginning lmao. Those dolls need to get a well-deserved cameo next video Dave! Also, Kevin's Frenchness was in full display in so many ways and I'm here for it.
I think Shoma might have been ill because he looked like he'd run a marathon at the end of the SP which is unusual. It would explain how he went so massively downhill in the space of a few weeks
I heard that the ice was too soft at the SP time when lots of skater struggle with the Loop jump (the jump which needs the best ice condition). Then they did something made the ice became too hard.
I wish Raf will bring Shoma with him on the way back to California. To be honest, Shoma's skate is not my cup of tea especially on TES side but this time I even cried with him when seeing he was on K&C alone in such a difficult moment. Shoma should find himself a coach ASAP.
@B. Kolyada was at the same The Ice last summer with Nathan also Romiam Nathan's good friend post a picture of of three of them on Romain instgram caption's three of their counties flags USA France an Japan plus i think it will be a great for Shoma, Raf knows him since he was young who train Mao shoma idol since he was the age of 5 Nathan is really nice very frendly and not mind really
@twistxbow well Lambiel has Shoma's friend i'm not sure what his name is but he did Japan Open and Stake America who japanese witch would help but Raf has Marlin
@twistxbow he only went to two camps over the summer but i think he never went to Raf might becuase of Nathan he is Shoma biggest rival but Shoma actually really likes him he confront to him at the talk show at the ice show whome he really likes as well his good friend Romain post a post a picture of him with Shoma and Nathan as well cation three of their counties USA,Japan and France I'm not sue why about that is
Shoma said he skates to show how great her coaches' programs are in the past. Nobody knows what happened with the team and him, but I really do not get the situation.
I love Korstenaia’s skating and artistry out of the new Eteri girls. Anna is quite awesome as well. I just wish they would point their toes when jumping or when sit spinning. I’ll take Korstenaia’s triple axle but I wish she would fix her leg wrap. But hey, It worked for Midori Ito and her jumps were awesome.
I know he was sloppier here overall, but those quads in Nathan's shorts were magnificent, as well as the quad toe/3F combo, which he missed in Vegas, and since he had no pops here, he was still only two points behind his overall score in Vegas. Therefore, it wasn't as bad as last year where he was third in the short to Jason, but yeah, it's similar in that this was a lesser performance compared to skate america. Also, GP France last year was the last GP of the season I think.
just some thoughts: Kostornaia is finally getting the attention she deserves. Those who have watched her for years since Juniors are over the moon, me included. Last year I loved Kaori Sakamoto and I am still a huge fan but despite her programs this year might fit her character better, she lost the Piano momentum, her PCS is lower, she is much LESS polished and her jumps seem just lazy to me. Obviously, I don't know anything about her training process but it just seems to me that she hasn't trained enough for this season. What's more her lutz is getting called, but thats been long overdue, she has always had a wrong edge. But judges were more lenient towards her last year THANKS to her polished programs (that ironically fit her less than the ones she is skating to this year) Last thing, while I agree that Zagitova is going to become less competitive next to 3As, it hurts me to hear everyone is sending her to professionals. Like, even I like her posture and skating less than 2017/2018 season, however, I feel hurt for her than she is kinda not relevant to people anymore. Where is longevity? Mao, Yuna, Carolina, they all competed for more than 10 years and they were still relevant. I know it was also thanks to the level the skating was at in those times but I wish for skaters to be rewarded for their training with longer careers. I wish Zagitova skates for 5 more years and same for my dear beloved Kostornaia when she grows into a woman. These women deserve more than 2 years in spotlight and then byyyeeee you're not relevant we have younger ones.
Carl Borrowman i agree concerning this program. However, she was amazing interpreting Piano at Japanese nationals, 4cc or Worlds, she was performing with so much emotion, her step sequence was like swaying in the waves, her loop entry at the end of te FS was to die for. I wonder where has all of that gone
I've watched two of their talks recently and realised they have definitely got very biased opinions against certain skaters (mostly Russian skaters probably?), they had to refer Evgenia, Alina, Alena, Yuzuru or even Eteri's name under their subject title to gain attention otherwise who would watch their videos? It is definitely a ruse to get people to listen to their comments, but when you do listen you find that all they say is very negative. We hear lots of comments about needing to retire simply because of one or two falls in a game, this is very unprofessional from figure skating analysts. Nothing more than click-bait.
@@TheSkatingLesson Search Engine Optimisation would suggest the content was worthy relative to the search term, objectively the proportionality says that isn't true. Subjectively there is enough on these comments to confirm it isn't true. However you call it, there is something unrepresentative and disingenuous about the way its done here. Lets all agree and move on...
I couldn't agree more with you. I opened this video thinking that it will be a professional discussion of past and upcoming events in figure skating, but it turned out to be a biased blabbing soaked with dislike towards particular skaters (khm khm Russian khmm khmm Zagitova). I have made a mistake thinking that they are actually FS analysts. Never again. Waste of time. If I want biased unprofessional discussion as the one on the video, I'd rather go read some comments under FS Instagram posts.
Yay!! More this and that. I love this time of year. Could we have Grand Prix all year long? Just to hear Dave and Jonathon TSL gab! Your commentaries are always spot on! Well, 99.5% 5.9 out of 6.0 point of the time. ;) but j can always be swayed.
Lynette Constantinides James is a bit older and I think they both realised they needed to pace themselves more competition wise if they’re gonna make it to the Olympics. Last season they peaked to early.
@@virginiana3783 I don't think she expected to get voted off so early, I was shocked too. They'd said at the beginning of the season that they would probably miss GP, depending on the results and Morgan was supposed to be their trainer but he was training a Jr. pairs team. I'm filling in blanks from IG but since they weren't together they couldn't practice. From what I understand they'll be starting again soon. She was with John and Sylvia at Skate America and posted about missing being in competition. And they've mentioned getting started again but they're not going to hit every competition but are definitely going for Olympics.
I loved Mariah's free; it fits her to a T. You can tell by her expression in the opening seconds that she's really feeling the music and wants to let it carry her. Her short, on the other hand ... I know Adam R. wants to stretch her range and get in touch with her wilder side, but I feel like she's just not comfortable with this music or choreography. Yet. Maybe by Nationals she'll get there, but right now she looks like an eight-year-old trying on her big sister's makeup and clothes. It just doesn't fit. And THANK YOU to Starr Andrews for giving us a really nice spiral -- and HOLDING it. Michelle Kwan would be proud!
I would give her a 10 for performance in the free. But the short is a miss for me. The costume looks amazing on her but the choreography and music arent as amazingly edgy as adam thinks they are.
You know, I think another skater could really deliver that program with conviction. (Diva Wagner comes to mind -- she could really sell it like a WOMAN, as she put it in a recent tweet about Mae Berenice's SP.) But it's just not a good fit with Mariah's freckle-faced, corn-fed Midwestern wholesomeness. She looks uncomfortable, which never works in selling a program.
Let's give Mariah five minutes to grow into this SP, mkay? One thing about it though; I thought that her SP music was not loud enough. It felt markedly softer than the other skaters' music. I was at the event and haven't watched on TV yet, but this music needs to be LOUD. It will help Mariah get into it.
I have just finished reading the comments and I can't stop laughing. I am not sure if "where is Dave" is the new "code word" for followers of TSL to recognise one another and tell trolls. If it is, I am sorry, I didn't get that memo, but I am gonna keep up. So, wait for it.. "Wheres is Dave"? 😂
@@TheSkatingLesson I read it, this is why I found it hilarious. First thing I read the description and the the comments and I couldn't believe it! I was trying to make a joke about it, i guess not being English my language, i didn't manage to get what I intended. Sorry
Her rippons are gorgeous too!
Her rippons and tanos are gorgeous.
The bent tano + the leg wrap on the 2T looks like ribbon twirling around a stick...not textbook but it’s beautiful!!
Lots of moments this week. Kostornaia's fantastic skate, Zagitova's Olympic moment when she went for the Loop on the second Lutz, Mariah Bell getting the gold medal by mistake and ceremoniously giving it to Kostornaia (LOL!).
I do miss having you on screen Dave. Your facial expressions are everything
So sorry. It was a technical glitch that I can't figure out, but the conversation was too good.
@@TheSkatingLesson don't be sorry! Easy to imagine what they looked like 😂 and I can help with any concerns about your French pronunciation 😘
I missed the facial expressions too
However he did warn us before posting about the technical glitches to his credit
@@leratomonethi4265 And seeing the dolls. Lol.
Rahel Horvat or maybe just a bit more gracious and less entitled...
Amy Garcia You couldn’t resist taking a shot a Medvedeva, could you?
Felt like Dave was God and he's talking to Jonathan.
Hahahah omg right😂😂😂😂👏🏻
😂
The ice quality in Japan will be much better I think so we will have the chance enjoy the quality of the programs.
her body still grown right? She's more tall now .imagine how tall when she 19-20 😊
Perhaps it was because she had too many transitions to slow her down. 😉
I feel like she needs the transitions because without them she wouldn’t know how many counts she would have to hold a position.
@@bettybleu12 LOL.. her programs are way too crowded i think
Ekaterina Galkina not really “realizing that her time at the top is coming to an end soon” but more like “realizing that she has won every thing imaginable and has reached every goal she has ever set in figure skating”
mish098aimer ,,,exactly. She has the major titles now, and she realizes her time at the top has quickly passed.
@mish098aimer Medvedeva is a much more decorated figure skater in Russia.
Lol.
TB maybe he will reconsider his position!!
@@iamkid_a Maybe you had to be alive in the 80's to fully appreciate them! Whoever designed their costumes was clearly there! Lol.
They wore primary colors if you watch the clip Gaby posted.
@@TheSkatingLesson Oh and of course Fame took place in NYC. Of course edgy, artsy NY youngsters wouldn't wear bright colored leos & tights! 🤣
Alina just had one so so competition this season..and you guys think that’s it she should give up?! Come on
She had a great Japan open and Russian open skate and her training has been top notch this season.
@mish098aimer Like Evgenia. Zhenya just wants to compete, to have fun... It's not just about gold medals or results.
@@mitsurukurosawa4240 I thought that Zhenya was aiming for the gold at 2022 Olympics. I don't know about this pre Oly seasons tho
EB18 but Eteri has other girls younger than Trusova Shcherbakova Kostornaya
alex8matt don’t worry they hate Alina, she was second in this competition with an amazing skate and they say she should retire... how biased are they wtf

Me too! I looooove their free dance!
@@DSQueenie not to most people. and pretty much everyone hates h/d's FD so
itsmy life I’m pretty meh on H/D free too. But I’m not in to C/B either.
Ain’t gonna happen. Hubbell and Donohue are head and shoulders better skaters
I really like Mariah's free skate, when you see joy in a skater's face it really works.
She doesn’t quite remind me of Stolbova yet but maybe she’ll develop.
@@chayaavtzon1507 I also believe that Alina will be at Worlds.

I love it too. One of the most enjoyable programs this season for sure.
Poor Shoma-I hope he figures things out and makes it work. His FS sounded like an emotional Yuri on Ice number about trying to get your career together, so maybe it’s about time he gets drunk at a banquet and gets a Russian hottie to be his coach... 😬

You have to be in the mood that will get you appreciate their artwork.
kirikou306 so well articulated. I love this program
man i gotta say, I don't even watch Dance category but I LOVED this program.
Thanks guys for your positive feedbacks :)
Merci pour votre ouverture d'esprit. Vous avez parfaitement exprimé ce que je pense également.

YES!!! Another one I wanted to hug 😟😟😭😭😭
Shomo is scaring the crap our of me with those jumps. And the Axels especially - I'm terrified he's going to seriously hurt himself.
I pointed that out earlier in the year when I saw some of his jumps. He was landing so heavy that his knees just looked like they were going to disintegrate.
Terri B ,,,it didn’t look like his knees were the problem,,,,he was completely off axis, esp. in the triple axel, that there was no way to land it.
OMG same
@@garysimmons1485 Yes it was the entries.
I feel like there are three people in this conversation: Dave, Jonathan and Jonathan's eye brows
Such efficiency! Always appreciate the effort to give us the extra speedy recap after the competition!!!
Agree
The only one I can see them replacing is Anna because they could argue that gold at her gp assignments was easier won than silver at Alinas. They won't replace Sasha and, unless she bombs at gpf/nationals, they can't justify replacing Alena if she beats Alina at both gp.
Anna has to land her lutzes, if she misses them she might end up off the podium
Maybe skaters who have achieved certain results during the season should automatically qualify for worlds, regardless of their nationalities. And then the countries who don't have a skater who qualified could send whoever they want. Because if you win a world championship without Alina, Alena, Sasha or Anna, you aren't really the best in the world...
🤭 You guys dislike Alina 👑🥇 and yet, you need her name in your UA-cam thumbnails. Even if you talk about her for 2min. in order that you can be heard!

Je suis Leslie ,,,i never heard them say they dislike Alina,,,they just realize her time at the top has passed.

Double standarts... What do you want from them? They just don't like Alina.
Totally agree with you!!
Mariah was so calm, focused, toned, poised and honestly wonderful. I always liked her, but she showed her star quality here. She truly won the audience over during her free skate, not just as beautiful but as the whole damn package. Her confidence is amazing this season and I am so happy for her.
Same here, I hope she keeps up the momentum.
She fills part of the void Ashley Wagner left behind. I have loved her programs since last year.
TheSaintbx I feel like she’s the opposite of Ashley Wagner in every way lol
She demonstrated the best revenge is to live a good life
She was really standout in the free but am I the only one who isnt impressed by the short? She looks Great but the program does nothing for me.
👏👏👏
Wouldn't you then be agreeing that she is like Sasha Cohen from head to ankle...

Loved your comment about Mariah Dave regarding the situation with Eun Soo. It’s quite obvious that the Koreans tried to sensationalize and accuse her for an honest minor mistake. Now she’s rising up and Eun Soo is barely floating this season.
I thought that was an accident.
My heart broke for Shoma, and I can't help but put some of the blame on the JSF.
Why do you blame the federation?
TheSaintbx perhaps you missed the kiss and cry today.
Don't be so sensitive. It's just light hearted teasing.
Dave! "I think they can be pretentious and believe in what they are doing!" Absolutely! I live in NYC and I know a lot of people like that totally earnest in their pretentiousness.
Wakaba and Kaori I would actually die for. Always such interesting choreo, and they sell it.
Now that Zagitova is not at the top of Eteri’s pyramid anymore they should at least work on her posture and ss, her shoulders are always so high up/tense it looks like she doesn’t have a neck.
I feel like they at least owe it to her.
)) Posture is correct. She is not from the European race.
She could not stalk up against Rika right now.

Ok first of all, who the hell am I defending PC as a VM fan? LOL that SD was BRILLIANT.

Sherbakova still has weak SS compared to Kostorn.
Not as weak as Trusova's.
Lynette Constantinides actually worse than Trusova
EVERYBODY has weak skating skills compard to Kostornaia. Girl is top 5 in the world right now out of both men and ladies.
All of the skaters have weak SS compared to Kostornaya )))

Sasha Trusova definitely does not go to show business and she knows her weakness so still her athletic abilities are amazing

And Yes, Nathan needs a new costume. That shirt, …………..I don’t want to be mean.
Dave, your facial expressions were missed 😘
Becca3232 so sorry! Technical glitch!
@@TheSkatingLesson no worries, I appreciate how quickly you and Jonathan put these together. I know you'll be back next week 😘
I have been waiting for this! IDF 2019 was crazy. Did you guys see how bad the ice was?
Well, it wasn't when you were there in person...
Nathan and Romain both mentioned it was too hard after the puddles. I guess they tried to fix the problem and just made another problem?
I heard that the ice was too soft at the SP time when lots of skater struggle with the Loop jump (the jump which needs the best ice condition). Then they did something made the ice became too hard.
Wafa Yafine : YES, terrible. And the rink very small very uncomfortable for the skaters.
if this is gonna become a thing, we need to get Jonathan a Dorothy at minimum
Lisa Critzer who doesn’t need one?!
even Kat is nodding her head to this
Soon it will be time to bring back the Michelle Kwan snow globe
@@a9029k oh she stays out all year with the Peggy and Kristi xmas ornaments
I wish Raf will bring Shoma with him on the way back to California. To be honest, Shoma's skate is not my cup of tea especially on TES side but this time I even cried with him when seeing he was on K&C alone in such a difficult moment. Shoma should find himself a coach ASAP.
Nguyen Hoang Tinh Hai I don’t think Nathan would want that
@@MrChaseBlue I dont get the impression that Nathan is that fragile or a diva, tbh. Its not like he's in CA anyway.
@twistxbow he only went to two camps over the summer but i think he never went to Raf might becuase of Nathan he is Shoma biggest rival but Shoma actually really likes him he confront to him at the talk show at the ice show whome he really likes as well his good friend Romain post a post a picture of him with Shoma and Nathan as well cation three of their counties USA,Japan and France I'm not sue why about that is
I don't know what is worse: Watching Shoma fall or knowing that Jill is also watching Shoma fall and just waiting to get Kendall another solo.
Shoma said he skates to show how great her coaches' programs are in the past. Nobody knows what happened with the team and him, but I really do not get the situation.
Timestamps, pls
The French's rhythm dance was perfect Jonathan, don't give in to Dave!!!

@@AlinaHadredin How has Dave turned into a hater?
@@leratomonethi4265 I dont know, you are asking a wrong person. He clearly is in this video :)

Orphaned Apparel 😂
Conspiracy!
Yeah, he must have done some voodoo thing!😳😳
I’m Canadian and yes we are nationalistic but for me, in figure skating, I like the skater’s abilities not the country they are from
Me too!
Agree on all points.
What would Dick Button say?
Loraine Spencer Glorious!!! Marvelous!! Good for you, Alena too! Then Peggy would add, if only she’s point her toes. 😊😉
Dave you aint playin. Read the description box people 😂
I predicted the comments on Twitter too!
Ashley Juszczyk I never read the description but this time I’m glad I did!
just some thoughts:
Kostornaia is finally getting the attention she deserves.
But judges were more lenient towards her last year THANKS to her polished programs (that ironically fit her less than the ones she is skating to this year)
Last thing, while I agree that Zagitova is going to become less competitive next to 3As, it hurts me to hear everyone is sending her to professionals.
Gregor Valentovic this is the second time I've seen Kaori live, and she does not emote on the ice. It is sad.
Sally Rudkin the top skaters names are listed next to the title for purposes of search engine optimization.
@@TheSkatingLesson Exactly...Click-bait.
@@wq905 False. Search Engine Optimization- and we covered all of them in the video. If we didn't, that would be click bait.
Just give us the 6.0!
TheSkatingLesson ok ok. 6.0 for Technical 6.0 for Artisty 10.0!!! For sassiness!
Where are Vanessa and Morgan? I was really looking forward to seeing their new programs.
She did Battle of the Blades and they decided to take the Grand Prix off.
@@TheSkatingLesson Wow. That does NOT seem like a smart decision!
Lynette Constantinides James is a bit older and I think they both realised they needed to pace themselves more competition wise if they’re gonna make it to the Olympics. Last season they peaked to early.
Excellent point, DSQueenie! I hadn't thought of it that way.
Great program!
@@TheSkatingLesson Long or short?
I would give her a 10 for performance in the free. But the short is a miss for me. The costume looks amazing on her but the choreography and music arent as amazingly edgy as adam thinks they are.
You know, I think another skater could really deliver that program with conviction. (Diva Wagner comes to mind -- she could really sell it like a WOMAN, as she put it in a recent tweet about Mae Berenice's SP.)
But it's just not a good fit with Mariah's freckle-faced, corn-fed Midwestern wholesomeness.
And here I thought I was going to wait a day for this.
You guys work super fast 😘😘😘
keep it up guys!
I enjoyed Jonathan giving Dave sass-mouth. Glass of wine should be just off-camera for all This & That.
Do you think Young You's 3A was fully rotated in Skate Canada? It was much less rotated than Alena's 3A. Still noone mentioned it before.
On a Saturday!!!!!!! How lucky we are!
I have just finished reading the comments and I can't stop laughing. I am not sure if "where is Dave" is the new "code word" for followers of TSL to recognise one another and tell trolls. If it is, I am sorry, I didn't get that memo, but I am gonna keep up. So, wait for it..
