- carno got an interesting weight buff and we discovered a new area which Scott told us about in the comments. we also had some nice encounters and change the course of a hunt. in the end I hated myself a lot tho :/

Honestly cliffs are relatively easy to avoid as long as you aren’t sprinting full speed ahead but thats just from my experience and in my opinion and I also haven’t seen the video yet lol
@@dtbrex08 are you new to the isle? because the cliffs being APEX is a running gag since V3. so, it isn't about if and how you can avoid them. it's a the isle thing/joke. like the word "soon". which is another running gag in the isle community

I love how twinkle twinkle little star played right after the cerato died. Nice touch mombie. Yeah, car is hunger is a pain in the ass, but ig it promotes a hunter playstyle or smith. Just wish it didn’t get hungry every 10 minutes. Nice video tho mombie, looking forward to the next one

as long as there is enough AI I don't mind too much. but, if they force me to kill every babu as only chance to not starve all the time, then it gets boring to me.anyway, I like that they gain weight more quickly now. so, you can at least have a proper hunt from late juvie on

@@kmp3-gaming986 the horde test is an own "branch". like you choose between legacy and evrima, you can choose the horde test in the same menu as long as it is available. which should be at least another week, I guess

That's the one thing I hate the most about this system. You can get it all the way to 99% full but if you don't hit 100 you get nothing for it. Makes 0 sense. As if you leaving 1 bite left of your steak means you don't get any of the protein out of it. They should honestly make it so you get the buff if you fill it over 50 or 75%.
That and when you take 1 extra bite of something it'll fill up a slot enough that you gotta wait like 20 mins or more to fill it with the diet you actually want. One thing they could do there is maybe make it so if a diet slot is very low, and you eat a bunch of another diet, it replaces that slot. Just if it's maybe 15% and less.
I agree, I don't like that either. even less I like that it always fills in a certain "row" (is this the right word?). I mean, if the top hex gets empty and your lower hex is still activated with let's say half protein and you also eat new protein, then it starts to fill the empty on top instead of filling the already half full again first. I really go crazy about this
I like your replacement idea. in general the diet system has still a lot of room for improvement. but, I am sure it will be well in the end. after all these are just stats and so many changes (like incoming dinos) will still effect the system anyway, so, hope dies last
But reasons for dying are ridiculous. No AI, or an inability to get out of a hole or crack. Just really unsatisfying. The greatness of this game is being tremendously overshadowed by the glitches and lack of completeness.

@@da.mombie they removed it for some reason last patch, edit: actually the command still works, but only in certain spots, so i thought they removed it cause in my experience i got stuck under a fence and the game wouldnt let me unstuck. oops

Either that or the quirks to deal with a feature and system rich game made in Unreal Engine might be the cause.
What a brutal ending, I was so nervous when you were running along that slope ... and then 😬 the new area looks very nice though, I've played very little of the hordetest and havn't explored the new sanctuary. I hadn't known about it, but smelt it last time I played and am excited to check it out!
it's a nice little area and even better, there were a lot of players in the south recently. specially in the triangle of the south river (spawn area), the lake west of it and this new area. right now one of my favorite areas

I would play Dinos like Carno, Herrera and Deino much more if there wasn't one problem... The hunger drain. The logic just escapes me, they're meant to be ambush hunters. If we compare them to modern ambush animals, those can last months (even y e a r s) without food. (Now I know in a game like this that's not realistic, but still. The drain on all three of them, especially Carno and Herrera, is ridiculous.) How am I meant to "play as an ambush" hunter, which usually includes sitting and waiting in an area for opportunities, when my hunger is constantly forcing me to run around and desperately find food?

thx mate ♥ yeah, I agree on the ambush part. because I am also a guy who likes to stay in one place and wait patiently for an opportunity. which is barely possibel right now because of the food drain. but, we have to keep in mind that many people play very differently. so, the balancing is tough. best example is carno on a rule server. if you have to eat your prey/corpse and aren't allowed to leave it, then everyone who loves to just hunt with carno gets a problem. because you can hunt just once and have to sit for about 30 minutes or even longer if they change the food drain. it's really not that easy to balance the game for every type of player.
that said, we are still in the alpha stage. the reason why they change the stats all the time like crazy is simply because they get data out of it. which they can use later on to optimize the balancing while polishing the game in the end.

carno's hunger is brutal
i also tried playing carno when the AI was disabled--it's rough! ended up eating rotten or other carno corpses to survive. was so surprised when you managed to kill that big cera chasing you. such a close fight! :0
I was so lucky. I guess it was low on health from starving. no way it was full on health but yeah, carno is rough without AI
I had to switch back to the main branch for a while since the AI was nonexistent. I think you played around the time that I asked in Discord about the AI, and one of the mods said they only enabled small AI. I'm sure you played after that and noticed there's AI now, but the deer and goats don't move, so it makes it harder to find them but easier to kill.
I spend a lot of time in the South now. It's big enough to find your own space, and there are other players there to find food or a fight, but it's not overwhelming like East Plains and NE were. Plus, I think it looks better than those other places. I wish more people were in the swamp, though.

I also love the south. somehow this is my favourite spot from start on. it's the east light. the east is liek teh northwest was on spiro. the weirdo area. but, south is much more chilled and yet busy enough to find someone every now and then. I agree on the swamp. sadly it's pretty empty recently

They restricted the spawns so much in the HT, I hate it, and just switched to the normal branch. They removed all big AI, while also removing the larger player cap so its really hard to find dinos of the other species in your area.
I played herra yesterday and found the first turtle since many months but, boars and deer are rare. in fact, I didn't see any recently
I think they should remove the ability to choose where you spawn

How do you find the FPS in horde test at the moment?
I refuse to play at the moment because i have t re-log 3 times per hour to get proper FPS and this ruins the experience for me.

thx ♥ I had this problem when I played deino. it was really bad. like you said, 3x relog within an hour or so. but, I played herra yesterday and it was pretty smooth for almost 2 hours straight. so, tough to say
Well your warrior of a Carno wasn't gonna die to the Cera so clearly it needed to be nerfed via cliff before it got too strong and took over!

yeah, has been a while
I used to play carno a lot until cerato released, I think other than being too punishing to charge with, in 6.5 it was the most balanced it had been.
Right now it feels really weird to play and especially without the slide feels even weirder, but with the acceleration is pretty overpowered. So its unfun and also op at the same time which sucks, I hope they just make it back like 6.5 carno without the 10% charge stam drain, maybe a 5% cost instead. I haven’t watched the video yet as of saying this but just wanted to point it out lol.

Not sure if it's true but I heard that eating the organs whole is good for filling food, but if you drop it and eat it, it is better for filling diets

if I die like to that omnis as example, then it's more like, well, I can't outrun them, I can't fight them, so, it wasn't my fault = all good pretty much the same for hacker. I have no chance = it's not my fault = all good

I played cera recently and it was fun as always. but I didn't have an encounter with carnos, so, dunno in general I don't mind stats changes much tho. they change with every update and so I don't really care about them

@@life4myHomeboys it's the same for most dinos somehow. utah/omni was super strong once, then super weak next. cera will be strong and then weak again and many other dinos too. imagine how many dinos are still to come and how many updates we will still get. they literally change these stats with every update and like you said, between OP and barely playable. so, even if cera is weak now, it will probably look very different with the next or latest the following update. even more, it will probably be 20 times more often strong and 20 times more often weak again until the game is ready
that's why I gave up on making sense out of it by now. wasted time

Is the rubber banding finally gone ? I stopped playing the game only for that reason
on the regular server it's gone since about a month or so. they are pretty smooth. on the horde test tho, I had a tiny rubber banding every now and then. much less than it was, but, I still hope they fix that before they drop it as update.

probably may. as far as I know they will start the horde test for dibble pretty soon after the actual horde test becomes a public update. so, it should be available at least on test server in may. hope dies last

deino will probably get a mutation for salt water as far as I know. so, I am very much looking forward to that
mmm...i still vote for diversity in species...
so Sarco will naturally be smaller and less powerful but in exchange able to use the salt-water areas...so both will be unique and have something different to offer
not a fan of mutations idea...sounds to me like imbalances bringer if not done properly
and this is a very sensible area in terms of balance...
@@Splina. every dino will get mutations with the elders update. depending on what food you eat (and even lifestyle?), your dino will get certain strengths. like deinos who eat much seafood, can drink saltwater at some point. this could become a very interesting feature, if they design it right.
as much as I know these devs, those mutations will fit in pretty natural. it also won't become some crazy stuff like 50% more damage or so. but, I also know that it won't be perfect from start on and I already see the criticisms of it right after the release. yet, on the long run I think this will become a very nice feature which will add a lot of depth to the game.
there are already more than 50 dinos which we will have in the ready game. I don't know if sarco is on the list to be honest, but, I don't think we will have a problem with diversity in the end
@@da.mombie of course, it makes sense from evolutionary / realism point of view. But from gameplay pov, i have concerns...
and it's weird since i'm a fan of realism in games
this is one of the points where gameplay is more valuable than realism
so...if the changes will be just to allow other biomes, better regen, or NV let's say...that's fine
but if the changes come in with extra damage, extra hp / size or so...this is where the balance may broke
what will a solo player be able to do compared to a nested and "mutated" one?
so it will just hugely favor the groups of players who are able to nest, and pass the "heritage"....so, solos will always be at disadvantage if all this comes how i visualize it...
*because...mutations comes over generations, right?
that's why i have concerns...

@@Splina. these devs aim for realism. they are just a tiny and inexperienced team which often struggles to accomplish their own goals right away. but, after all I know, the mutations and elder will work as life circles. so, if you treat your dino well, then it will become an elder for a short amount of time. this elder will be more strong than an adult (and will also be visible in terms of body shape), but it will die to a natural death at some point. if you die this way, then you can take a little advantage into your next life. in between are mutations which depend on your food and lifestyle somehow. the only actual mutation I read about was that they are THINKING of that salt water thing for deino. so, even this isn't confirmed yet.
but, we already had something similar. the diet was a kind of mutation until the gateway update arrived. you could choose between more stam regen, more health regen or a better NV. none of these stats was crazy. so, I don't think they will go crazy on mutations either. anyway tho, it won't matter if you are a solo or group player. both should have the same access to become an elder. but, you made an interesting point which I didn't even think of yet. eggs! it will be interesting if we can give our mutations to our kids as well
