Finally a review that covers black crush. I bought the 32GS95UE and used it with the latest firmware after seeing reviews praising it aside from color volume. First thing I did was upgrade the firmware and noticed very noticeable black crush and color banding. I can't imagine what it was like before that firmware. I bought the Alienware AW3225QF but was concerned about my well lit room due to reviews showing the worst case scenario. Blacks still look great in my well lit room. Now I'm enjoying Dolby Vision and eARC/CEC. I haven't noticed black crush on this Alienware, took me a few hours to get used to the curved display. Only issue I have is with OLEDs brightness but hopefully when I upgrade in ~4 years they'll be brighter.
Please continue to pay attention to the progress of software updates for this monitor. I hope they optimize hdr by the end of 2024 because I will buy it in 2025. Thanks for the video

I just want a glossy miniLED. OLED monitors aren't there yet and you can get a 27" / 4K / 160hz miniLED without brightness or burn-in issues for $700 or less. Only downside is blooming, but in most cases it's not even noticeable.
Blooming diminishes with the increase in local zones. There is like ZERO blooming on the Apple miniLED displays, but as you scale the displays up they loose LED concentration and then you get the bloom.

Meh, have a LG WOLED sitting on my desk right now and I’m loving it. I do web design for a living and the color accuracy there is more than sufficient for my needs and games look great. Maybe if you go full nerd mode with all the measuring equipment the monitor doesn’t stack up well but for me it’s great. Maybe you just got a bad sample of the monitor? Is that possible? I dunno I guess I’m just saying despite all the apparent hate this monitor is getting to the average user that doesn’t have thousand dollar plus tools to measure their monitors performance it’s still a very very very good monitor

i have this monitor and love it regardless. HDR looks great, and I'm not unfamiliar with OLED HDR as I have a 77G1, 77G3, 65C8, and 3 total OLED monitors along with OLED iPhone and new OLED iPad Pro lmao. OLED everywhere

Okay so I just got mine and for the price I was not blown away, color seems off,brightness isnt bright at all, also whites are not white they are either warmer or cooler when I’m in the settings

I was just discussing this monitor with a friend of mine while filming footage to showcase the issues I've encountered. Then your video was recommended to me by UA-cam and perfectly confirmed my observations. Additionally, the lack of a USB-C port with a KVM switch is a significant downside. As a result, I’ve decided to return my LG 32GS95UE tomorrow.
@@uputku As I previously mentioned, you miss out on the KVM switch and hub functionality. With my setup, I have my audio interface, mouse, and keyboard connected to the monitor, allowing me to switch between my Mac and desktop PC with just the press of a button. But I agreee the branding on the ASUS one is annoying but you will get used to it.

No, matte can burn in hell. I thought you were exaggerating matte's disadvantages but it completely takes the "punch" out of OLED. However, I still think you were off your nut when you went on a rant on the QD-OLED glossy. I'm sorry, but QD-OLED looks great.

Has anyone been able to update this monitor via MacBook Air? I'm using the LG OnScreen Control software but I'm not able to download/push the firmware update. Anyone else have this problem?
I don't get it does LG have completely separate engineers working on the monitors and TVs? My LG C2 is great, it lacks 240hz sure, but it didn't have to wait for firmware updates to have proper HDR out of the box. Also smart features are great to avoid the issues with using streaming apps on PC which makes the G80SD more attractive, but its also matte so that's a dud too. I need to wait for DP 2.1 and new GPUs anyways cause I run multi monitors and use DLDSR for some games and DSC messes with that.

I was able to get this at a pretty decent price, with taxes it was less than the asus and AW models so I’m pretty happy with it, while I’d love to compare it against those qd-oled, I live in a country where is not possible to see any good monitors in person. But to my use cases I think the monitor is pretty good, I’m not an expert and have less experience with trying monitors unlike you. But I’m really enjoying it. I think that solely based on reviews the ASUS is the best of the Oled 4K market right now but unfortunately I can’t try it so I guess I’m happy with my purchase and if you can grab the LG in a good deal I’ll still go for it. THE LG and the AW are usually in stock and while the MSI is a great option for the value in price, it’s never in stock and the same applies to the asus, so if you want one of those, just use a shopping extension that lets you know about restocks, cause they are hard to get😂
On the Samsung G9 OLED review videos the comments are filled with people complaining about the usb c and how they want usb a. On this monitor's review the comments all condemned the use of usb a. I really think gamers suck.

It's too bad these companies were never prepared for the demand. I ended up with a Samsun G80SD. It's still nicer than my old 1440p, so I'm not complaining.

Wich should I get? In Denmark I can get this monitor (LG 32GS95UE) for 860 $ or Alienware AW3225QF for 1.262 $ - I wont play any HDR content. Just want "32" 4k 240Hz OLED. Yes they cost alot more here in Denmark...

You are so dismissive of Matte finishes that you don’t realize that not everybody’s rooms can get perfectly dark, and QDOLED to my knowledge have serious ambient light issues that will be far more distracting than a matte finish those with ambient lighting in their room including keyboards that will show up on your monitor, are you saying reflections are less distracting than a matte finish?

Sounds like they tried to compromise adding more depth to the blacks to try and make up for the lack of the rich glossy cover because tbh if you set a glossy screen next to a matte screen and nothing is turned on the black is already rich. What they did was basically realized ok that didn’t work out so let’s send an update to fix the shadows because the whites can’t be set because of how bright hdr is I would be interested to see what results you would get if you put a gloss cover over the display and redid it
The biggest issue is the matte finish doesn’t have that glossy cover which adds more darkness to the cover. I think what’s going on is the whites are being blown out because there’s no gloss cover over it to rollback on the highlights. It is a big problem with matte finish although for me I have always like the matte finish. But with this display I agree those whites are overkill I couldn’t find my curser and I had to actually change it to black lol

Blooming is still a big issue, but if we get 4K zones and new controllers it might be a really good alternative to OLED.

i used a usbc to display port on my mac works perfect. worth it for no branding. rather use dp

by "color brightness" you mean full white screen is bright but full yellow screen is way dimmer?

Wich should I get? In Denmark I can get this monitor (LG 32GS95UE) for 860 $ or Alienware AW3225QF for 1.262 $ - I wont play any HDR content. Just want "32" 4k 240Hz OLED.

You are so dismissive of Matte finishes that you don’t realize that not everybody’s rooms can get perfectly dark, and QDOLED to my knowledge have serious ambient light issues that will be far more distracting than a matte finish those with ambient lighting in their room including keyboards that will show up on your monitor, are you saying reflections are less distracting than a matte finish?
LG monitors have really dropped the ball across the board. Even the non OLED LG monitors seem to have many issues with these newer gens.

Sounds like they tried to compromise adding more depth to the blacks to try and make up for the lack of the rich glossy cover because tbh if you set a glossy screen next to a matte screen and nothing is turned on the black is already rich. What they did was basically realized ok that didn’t work out so let’s send an update to fix the shadows because the whites can’t be set because of how bright hdr is I would be interested to see what results you would get if you put a gloss cover over the display and redid it
The biggest issue is the matte finish doesn’t have that glossy cover which adds more darkness to the cover. I think what’s going on is the whites are being blown out because there’s no gloss cover over it to rollback on the highlights. It is a big problem with matte finish although for me I have always like the matte finish. But with this display I agree those whites are overkill I couldn’t find my curser and I had to actually change it to black lol
