Have to say, I'm impressed. I have an Axe FX Ultra for all the heavy tones I need an a few sparkly ones. But, I've always loved the leads and swells I get from my pods. I moved from my XT pro to the X3 pro and doubted very much I would EVER need another pod... This is swaying me. What would maybe push me to upgrading from my X3 would be in inclusion of User Impulse Responses. At the moment I'm running too many modellers. Haha. I've got the Axe Fx for dialling incredible rhythm tones an reco
I made my order at the music store I shop at a couple of weeks ago. I'm getting my Pod HD Pro and the foot control unit at the end of April. I can't fricking wait! :)
hey line 6!thanks for the new update for hd models, they sound amazing, specially the new high gain amp models, they are absolutely amazing,i use my hd pro x with torpedo live and the combination of two is unbeatable.thank you guys!
@AlexDD The guitar is a natural finish Variax 69', and it's a US custom shop prototype. You'd need to get the USA version to get that finish, I believe... Hope that helps!
@ACDCwarmachine there are no bass models in the HD PODs at this point but you can still plug a bass into it if you'd like; especially for FX and what not.
Hey Champs, Just put up a new Playlist showing the Tonal differences between all 7 - 4x12" Cabinets and all 8 Microphones. Its really cool to hear how the different Mics sound better and worse on different Cabs!!
@walshy0001 - The pods are not amplifiers but are modeling pre-amps. If you were to use this device live, you would need a power amp and speaker cabinet or a combo. If your club takes the output from this device as a line-in to the board, you'll be okay. Personally, I'd like to move to the Pod HD Pro with a DT25... hopefully, my budget will allow it.
@beewoy it offers more flexible input and output options and provides the rack mount form factor for people who'd prefer that over having the POD on the floor.
@switzerhenry Sean is using a US model JTV69. You can use the POD HD Pro as a vocal preamp and for guitar at the same time. I'll see if Sean put his patches up for download.
@Guitargawd13 You can go straight to the front of house mixer to the PA system if you'd like to. For bedroom playing you can just use the POD and monitor through the headphone jacks with headphones or powered studio monitors. This is still just a preamp though so you can't connect it directly to just a guitar cabinet. You need some sort of amplifier to drive the speaker cabs.
I have one of these. Haven't really learned how to use it very well. It has a lot of presets from former owner. They're not bad. I need to find a video that helps me out better understanding. Consider I'm old school,,.. 🤠👍🏼 this brand new fender telli,, sounds fantastic through it.⚡😳⚡
@zedchuva THE modeling unit to have is Axe FX II... And that wouldn't change even if HD would have twice better DSP... And i'm talking as a POD owner and Line6 user for 10 years...
@CFSmith, the decision to hide the "out of dsp" message was made on the spot due to time constraints, meaning that I didn't have screen time to explain what was going on. It wasn't meant to be manipulative - the manual is very clear that using two amps at once eats up a bunch of DSP. We lit and shot the whole thing in around two hours, so we were just trying to get everything in that we needed. :-) Yes, you can use the AES or SPDIF connectors for clocking. Hope that helps clear things up...
@k12modernwarfare You can turn off amp modeling on the POD but it's not true bypass so your signal will still travel through the AD/DA converters in the POD. You can just use the FX at that point if you wish.
Brilliant indeed. I'm sure the 'Gottahaves' will race to get this. Me, I already feel spoiled with my HD300 and my UX8. That's another good thing about Line 6. They're always coming out with new stuff but their 'old' stuff stays useful for years!...Except the original Spider Valve 212. It's front end was kinda crap. But now I plug HD300 into the power amp of my Spider Valve and Boom! Everything old is new and awesome again!
@wolfman109h No but you can manually change the file extension on the tone to make them work. I think it's on the plan to implement this as an automatic feature sometime in the future.
3 questions. What variax model are you using in this video?? Can I use the pod hdpro as a guitar and a vocal preamp at the same time? And can you hook me up with all the settings for your dual tone you put together I love it;!!!!! and can't quite replicate it..
@ACDCwarmachine It's all up to how you have the amp dialed in. You pick the the Engl model and back way off on the gain and save the patch that way if you'd like. That should clean it up. That would free you up to put distortion pedals in front of the amp in your patch.
@MetalisMental All of our PODs require that they be plugged into a power amp before sending the signal into a speaker. The PODs do not have a built-in power amp section to drive speakers.
Love it and have it My only suggestion is to have delay spillover. The Pro will prob be used for the live musician I would think and with all the crazy sounds it should have this option. going from one preset to another theres no trail off . The M5 and M13 have it so I thought this would too. Fun unit though
Hey Line 6, this product sounds great but will it give me the exact same quality tones in my home studio or are their additional pieces of equipment i.e. a particular interface I will need to get these exact tone?
@PerfectParasite The POD will respond to certain MIDI commands from a 3rd party MIDI pedal but it's limited in that it will only respond to program and bank changes and not CC's. With the FBV you can control just everything.
Really toggling the foot switches is about all you can do. Besides patch changes. So if you want an effect to turn on or off, you have to program a foot switch to turn it on and off and then use midi to toggle the foot switch. What's worse is you have to send out controller information that has a value greater than 64 in order to toggle. Are you kidding me? Why not if you send out a value less than 64 it turns it off and more than 64 it turns it on? Pretty retarded. Now that I know the work arounds, I still like it a lot.
@SparkPlugnl thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I can't explain why our product guys do or don't do certain things but you should visit our website and drop your feedback there under the Contact Us link at the bottom of the homepage.
what more does this actually do than the HD500 (other than sit on the desk) considering the price difference, i'm in the market for a Pod HD of some kind.
@line6movies If I were to buy the HD Pro and I wanted to use it for live shows with a pedal operated switching system, would I have to get the line 6 FBV line of foot boards or could I get a midi foot controller and achieve the same?
@bobgilles1 for live use you may have to rig something up but the input in the front comes in handy for those that are going to keep the POD wired into their studio recording racks. I would definitely suggest you submit your feedback to our developers though. Go to our website and look for the Contact Us link at the bottom of the home page. hen click on Product Feedback.
@fluff191 you can download the FREE POD HD edit program from our website and use that to dial in your tones instead of the LCD display on the POD itself.
@FolkessonMKV it will respond to program changes and bank changes but not MIDI CC's. Please feel free to leave your feedback for our developers requesting this under the Contact Us section at the bottom of our homepage. Thanks!
Can you do all the programming in an on screen application? for when you're using this to record into a DAW? Instead or can you only use the front panel/footswitch? Thanks
@mick3b1g I know that if you turn a delay or reverb off within a single patch, it will keep the spillover. For preset switching, I'm not sure there's a way to do it (yet). I'm gonna be using my with my X3 Pro, so I'm wondering if there's a creative solution to this problem! Perhaps relegating the X3 Pro to an outboard reverb and delay unit. We'll see when my HD Pro arrives \m/
@bullshitproof you can import presets from our Custom Tone website but not effects. The POD comes with 100+ effects right out of the box. You'd want to connect your guitar to the input of the POD and then connect the output of the POD to the front of your amp or directly into the power amp section of your amp if it has an FX Loop.
hey, when you pick an amp does it automatically go to distortion setting on the amp? like if i pick the engl amp, am i getting the clean signal and i put distortion pedals or am i using the engl's distortion?
@zedchuva Better DSP and a few software tweaks ;) - allowing to split the loop (use it as 2 seperate loops) - allowing to use only the cabs, no amp (with an expernal preamp in a loop) - allowing to load custom IR's (replacing stock ones if necessary due to memory size) These are small things .. such a shame they were overlooked. The last few things can be done with firmware tweaks, but the DSP is a hardware problem ...
So I'm looking into these just for modulation effects and possibly some boost effects. I'm building a rack and so far I have a Mesa/Boogie Quad Preamp, Furman power conditioner, furman pq6, and an ISP Decimator pro g. Is the Line 6 HD Pro X worth the price for just using effects? Or should I go with something else for the same price? Also my band plays metal so these effects would be used maybe once or twice for a song and possibly not used for a song. Thanks.
I've asked this before on the X3 vid but did not get a response. I'm in the market for a new amp and I really need something to replace it. I've been looking at pods because I like how you can record with it and get a much better quality tone with it. But I have a question, does the HD Pro plug and HD 500 plug straight into the computer like the X3 does? also, can the HD Pro completely replace my amp instead of adding on to it? because my amp is awful and I need a replacement
I really don't like that they cut out functionality from Pod X3 pro... Bass amps, mic preamps etc... You could have pretty much one unit in your home studio for all instruments and vocals. Now with HD it's not an option :/
@insatanwetrustslave Could you let me know where on the website it says that it doesn't work with FBV? I'd like to get that fixed. We do have a page on their called "Add-ons" that calls out the FBV, so just want to make sure that we catch this. Feel free to send a private message with a URL. Thanks.

ive been waiting for this for almost a year at this point, ill definitely be picking one of these up

hey line 6!thanks for the new update for hd models, they sound amazing, specially the new high gain amp models, they are absolutely amazing,i use my hd pro x with torpedo live and the combination of two is unbeatable.thank you guys!
Here it is!! I've been waiting for this to come out!
I just bought this guy and i'm happy about it! :)
The editor is called POD HD Pro edit, and it's free, by the way. Full graphic control of the unit...
@AlexDD

@ACDCwarmachine there are no bass models in the HD PODs at this point but you can still plug a bass into it if you'd like; especially for FX and what not.
Yup. Those Eleven Rack videos were shot in July 2009.
I'm assuming you can run this thru your amp (fx return and send)? Correct?
Hey Champs,

Seems pretty solid, but does it come with a GUI like your POD farm software, for creating different amp setups, when connected to the PC?
@ACDCwarmachine It's all up to how you have the amp dialed in. You pick the the Engl model and back way off on the gain and save the patch that way if you'd like. That should clean it up. That would free you up to put distortion pedals in front of the amp in your patch.
@dropless2002 mainly the rack mount form factor and more I/O options on the Pro as compared to the Desktop.
@MetalisMental All of our PODs require that they be plugged into a power amp before sending the signal into a speaker. The PODs do not have a built-in power amp section to drive speakers.
I built a valve amp, and sold my Pod XT. This is cool though. Very nice sounding.
@lesterpfester thanks for your feedback!

Hey Familiar Face , Which Gtr FX will it be next time . This guy makes everything sound good .
Este rack puede ejecutar loop con el controlador externo para tocar en vivo?
@SeanathenII if the PA was not powered then yes. The POD is a preamp and can't drive non powered speakers.
@PerfectParasite The HD Pro has a couple more input and output options but other than that it's exactly the same as the HD500.
Hey Line6, great product and great sounds, looks like the Variax is a great companion for it. But, will it blend?
Hey Line 6, this product sounds great but will it give me the exact same quality tones in my home studio or are their additional pieces of equipment i.e. a particular interface I will need to get these exact tone?
has line 6 fixed the tap tempo issue not carrying over into other presets yet?
@PerfectParasite The POD will respond to certain MIDI commands from a 3rd party MIDI pedal but it's limited in that it will only respond to program and bank changes and not CC's. With the FBV you can control just everything.
So I can't feed this CC values from my computer to automate effect parameter changes?
@@christaylor56 I have an HD 500X. I think this is the rack mountable version of that. And the cc is kind of limited.
Really toggling the foot switches is about all you can do. Besides patch changes. @gzussturbo thanks for the feedback. We'll see what we can do!
I wonder if it would work with a Peavey valveking head, I love the Line 6 distortion & other effects but I'm a complete novice when it comes to gear.
Do I have to drill a hole in my rack to plug an input cable to the front, why didn't they think to put an input in the rear???
Why isnt there a demo with this gentleman or at least this definitive for the Line 6 POD HD Pro X ?
Love that natural JTV69
@line6movies If I were to buy the HD Pro and I wanted to use it for live shows with a pedal operated switching system, would I have to get the line 6 FBV line of foot boards or could I get a midi foot controller and achieve the same?

Hi and thanks for the Demo! Could you please tell me, which Variax you are using (Color and Model)?
Thanks a lot!
What would be the benefit of getting this instead of the HD500? I am currently considering buying one of the two.
@fluff191 you can download the FREE POD HD edit program from our website and use that to dial in your tones instead of the LCD display on the POD itself.
Absolutely!

What power amp would you suggest to use with this? Dont want to spend a ton and the power amp would go into a 2x12 custom cab
@mick3b1g I know that if you turn a delay or reverb off within a single patch, it will keep the spillover. For preset switching, I'm not sure there's a way to do it (yet). @bebobebolxc Unfortunately we didn't save that one. In the future we will do better with that :) Thanks!
it is has foot controller for live shows or just rack
@fenderibo The patch files are not compatible so you'll need to dial in those tones manually.
I'm interested in the pod , could I use the pod with something like the the voodoo lab midi to analog switcher to switch my amp channels ?
@arroyomusic They are almost exactly the same accept for the form factor. They share the exact same DSP, amp, FX models etc.
so i was wondering, could you run this straight to a cab? or would i need a power-amp?
I've asked this before on the X3 vid but did not get a response. I'm in the market for a new amp and I really need something to replace it. Hi, does the HD Pro have more processing headroom for dual tones then the HD500?
Does the unit have any software editor that can be installed on the pc/mac like the 11R or the Axe?
Hey Sean what's that first lick you play? That part of a song?
00:32 what the song?
What is the biggest difference between the Pod Hd desktop and the HD pro?
how many rack spaces does this use ....thanks
My computer can only receive USB 2.0 or Firewire. Does this only connect via USB 3.0??
@insatanwetrustslave the FBV pedals will work with the HD Pro.
How does this sound with heavier tones and sounds?
@AetherSprites same DSP and processing power as the HD500.
I really don't like that they cut out functionality from Pod X3 pro... Bass amps, mic preamps etc... You could have pretty much one unit in your home studio for all instruments and vocals. Now with HD it's not an option :/
will this support bass guitars?
is as good as x3pro rack I don't see if it does multi amp settings
can i have the swell preset??!!
@MajkeTiTvoje Yes that would work fine.
Are the hd pro tones compatible with the hd500 or hd bean? Please answer!
Finally!
Just put up 2 new vids showing the HD Pro's Bomber Uber model - So far the Uber has been my favorite tone wise - very awesome!! Check em out
@insatanwetrustslave Could you let me know where on the website it says that it doesn't work with FBV? I'd like to get that fixed. We do have a page on their called "Add-ons" that calls out the FBV, so just want to make sure that we catch this. Feel free to send a private message with a URL. Thanks.
how does this work with bass?
how much will they cost?
@kyle8086999 Hi, below you'll see this comment, but I'll paste here from Sean Halley.

@bullshitproof yes. You can download X3 patches from our Custom Tone website for your new X3.
