The department of tourism should interven they must force hospitality to reserve set amount of space for local rates, otherwise SA must just get passport and just explore our neighbouring countries
So they are pricing out locals who contribute the most in tourism while prioritising digital nomads who are not bound by anything if they want to leave? Thats self-sabotaging
Oh they f''xxed that up. At some point there were plans to reclaim that entire waterfront strip from Transnet, but has since stalled to nothing. There's houses that belong to Transnet just where Marine Drive begins, it's houses for vagrants and criminals now.
11:15 that's Marketing 101, pay "desirable people" to travel to "desirable destinations" to sell that destination. It's just in the olden days, we had Top Billing traveling to these desirable destinations vs the influencers of now. The over focus on Cape Town as the ultimate holiday place in SA is once again a representation of the "sleepy sheep mentality" of the average working class people. Someone went to Cape Town, suddenly, everyone wants to go there even if the place and experiences don't resonate with them. I could literally make this same video about the Kruger National Park. Flying to Skukuza is how much? Staying at those exclusive lodges is how much? A game drive is how much?
When you are in cpt go to simons town or gordons bay. These places have great beaches, hiking, lots of good food. Also rent a smaller car you can ger a B-segment for R6500 for month-just giveit back after a week.
No government intervention - free market! Only for airBnB in Cape Town because it is becoming a threat to the local residents. Otherwise, just drive an half an hour from Cape Town to the countryside and it is cheaper, more friendly and more relaxed. There are other nice and more affordable spots in 🇿🇦 then Cape Town & JHB only.
Cape Town doesn't even have mining. Why does the government sponsored indaba go there not Northen Cape or Mpumalanga. The Western Cape uses their strength to grow the economy since they don't have much mineral resources or erable land. It took over 16 years to get it right and not overnight. Here we got rid of thr inept cadres when it was not fashionable to do so. You are from uMtatha, Sir, start talking to your compatriots to vote for a government that has a vision and that works for its citizens. The only people that have a problem with Cape Town is from those not from here.
The locals have a problem with Cape Town because they can no longer afford it too. Don't lie, they have been sour since 2014 when JHB companies moved down to CPT and brought their employees and didn't higher locals. Sies man
I am an bnb person when it comes to travel. The hotel offer so much less in comparison to the other option available in the travelling market. Again, we need to go away with this mindset of taking your travel and holidays only in December. Maybe one has to consider other months and spend time with your parents some other months of the year.
Wait but the foreigner spend twice as much. Local R58bn foreign spend R95bn. Also average spend per person of a foreign tourism is higher. Ability to up sell a foreign tourist is just easier..
8 million international compared to 38 million domestic, thats why theyre the same in terms of spending, why should we prioritize international do u suggest that the rest of us just stay at home for the holiday?
The answer is, and will always be capitalism and financial gatekeeping. These people know who they want and who they don't want in their spaces
Aaaiii Zimasa finally back from leave 🙌
Never was I the brightest in school, but I've always known that discrimination is bad until money gets involved.

Fereigners have flooded CPT with their foreign currency.

I’ll never forgive CPT, back in 2020 they were begging us joburgers to travel and the prices were fair but now we being priced out 5:40
Great observation some of the rates are really insane. We try to save but the prices are very costly indeed
We were in Durban last year and enjoyed it, but what a mess.
Even My White Boss is complaining . That's something to worry about!!!
Currently In Cape Town on Holiday we paid R18900 for 7 days anew hotel on food we spend on average a Day R2000 we drove down from Bloemfontein
Golden Dish - Athlone , maybe come to the Cape flats next time - Wynberg has amazing affordable restaurants
Dude try to go to the middle of nowhere in Underberg KZN it costs like 2k plus per night minimum!
What about the Gqeberha waterfront development as an alternative, How is that coming along?

Imagine getting stabbed for telling guests in your property that hubblies are not allowed. Imagine that! so let them be expensive.
Yey, that was expensive
Hai guys whatever the hell is going on in Cape Town is genuine insanity.

I'm 100% sure Zambians and Zimbabweans are crying the same cry about the prices at the Vic Falls 😅😅😅😅😅.

Yha as long as those parents are not parents-in-law, otherwise I'll take my chances in Cape Town 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
