  • Our second principle is exhaustion.
Sleep is a necessary luxury but don’t let it be the reason to procrastinate your way through life. Sometimes, it's okay to give up a few things along the way, even a little sleep, and face some exhaustion to achieve your goals.

POG here...we might not have chuted in, shot to kill and humped out but when you are knees deep in comms issues and are tasked with recovering ANOTHER command vehicle that some hammerhead was out there joy riding in the box while having to *ahem* negotiate for adequate ammo to cover your recovery party with the locally stationed NG, sleep becomes a dangerously precious commodity. So yeah, agreed ab initio.

"Gals'?? Yeah we see what has happened to the standards of our elite high level combat units after Obama opened it up to gals...

People serve to their own capacity. You can't expect women to perform at the same level as men. But look at the situation in Ukraine! When your country gets attacked and you don't have enough troops, I bet you sure would be glad to have a "gal" fight for/with you rather than a 16 year old boy or a 60 year old man.

This is bad advice. Sleep is a biological requirement.

Sorry, but that's not nearly enough.
Sure, you can sacrifice pleasure, fun, sleep and distractions for years on end, working like an absolute fiend - but that's not going to get you anything but very, very tired.
You need to think LONG TERM. When you do that, you will plan out your efforts for maximum return.
You also need help along the way. The single best thing you can do is find a Patron. Find somebody who is already up there who believes in you and is willing to help, coach and guide you along the way. Learning everything from first-hand experience will lead to failure. Learning from the failures of others is vastly more efficient.
Example: every job you take needs to be a stepping stone to the next, better job. You have to figure that path out IN ADVANCE.
Example: whether you're on the job or trying to sell something to a client, you need to find a way to generate the idea in your counterpart's head that if they don't treat you well, they are only hurting themselves. In other words - if your boss isn't ready to give you a raise or a promotion, he has to be afraid that you might leave. If a client doesn't feel inclined to buy from you, he needs to be afraid that if he fails to buy from you, his business will suffer. FEAR is a tremendous motivator, if that fear is generated by a perception of potential threat to the INTERESTS of your counterpart.
Something else to remember - you need to have a personal Brand. Maybe you're an absolute world class expert in a particular thing. Maybe your integrity simply cannot be questioned or challenged because you've got a tremendous history/reputation for it. Maybe you're the one who took over 3 failing product lines one after the other and, within 12-24 months, turned them into growth and profit machines. BUILD A BRAND.
    This is a start.
p.s. Any of you who whine about something being 'hard' - just give up. You're useless.
