    Among these, the 50s Standard would be my pick 100%. The Classic would be 2nd as it's quite a bit cheaper, looks great and has the extra tonal options. Looks like a better 60s version in my opinion. But 50s Goldtop with P90s is the only LP I'd buy personally, for the kind of music that I play.

    Really well done. Fantastic tone, fantastic playing. You really do these proper justice and milk everything a rock and roller would do with them (though I have a feeling that you're capable of quite a few styles!)
    I love the 'dry Marshall' tone you dialed in. I got a 60's Standard 6/19. Before that, I looked for a new Les Paul for 20 years and finally settled for PRS Singlecuts, but they never scratched my itch. Since the Les Paul purchase, I've added an SG '61 Standard and a Les Paul DC Special. Love them all - though the new SG needed fretwork done (dead spots) which kind of disappointed me, but my tech will get it right in no time.

    Beyond happy with my 60’s standard. I play both clean and high gain. Now my clean isn’t completely a true clean because I have a Marshall dsl20cr so it’s a clean gain. But you can turn the gain down, volume up, use your guitars knobs to get the desired tone, then between my drive and compressor pedals I can boost the volume. I know it’s a lot to get desired tones but you have a ton of range. Also once you switch over to channel 2 it’s absolutely glorious. Gives all the old school rock tones you desire. I love the 50’s especially for the fatter tone. But it doesn’t fit my playing style and I prefer Grover tuners and a thinner neck profile.

      @ScottXC91 3 роки тому

      Yeah, unfortunately your guitar was one of the last to come out of the "dark ages" at Gibson. Your Standard isn't the same as these new back-to-basics standards. All those features you just mentioned are exactly what they wanted to separate from the Standard. I'm sure it's a great guitar. But Seafoam Green, push-pull pots, weight relief, etc. Those things aren't indicative of the classic Les Pauls. Glad they still kept that guitar around but just changed the name. These new range of Standards are exactly the way the Les Paul should be, and should have always been.

      @@ScottXC91 2019 was in the dark ages? Less than two years ago. I hear you, but I am a little sick of all the the "classic" LP bursts. I've got a 60s as I prefer the slim taper. I consistently find it to be a very sweet and round tone. I've got a '61 SG RI that also has the 61r/t pickups. I guess I'm just an unabashed fan of those pickups - though I know I would be more than happy with the BB 1&2s. I've got BB 2&3s in another Les Paul. Like them a lot, but prefer the 61R&Ts for their sweetness and complexity.
    Got a great deal on a blem Classic (which consisted of few scratches that I easily polished off). I LOVE it! It's become my workhorse LP. I grab it 4 to 1 over my others because there's just something about its presence and punch. Funny thing about the weight relief - can't notice any difference than my 60s, though my other LP is definitely heavier.

    Very impressed with the sound of the ‘60s Les Paul. The classic is ideal for those who want coil splits (and looks so much better than the ‘modern’). A Les Paul 50s does what it says on the tin, though to me the one with P90s (not in this video) sounds so much better. Was disappointed with the Slash guitar pickups though, too much middle & treble in the sound for me. Then again, it’s all about individual choice. I think I’d go for the ‘60s or get a ‘50s with P90 pickups.

    Wow! That intro blew me away brother! I have a question, I have a 2021 Gibson Les Paul Studio. Which I love a lot.I like the 60's Les Paul. Really cool. I play quite a bit of Classic Hard Rock, i.e., Zeppelin, Beatles, Stones, Green Day, 38 Special, Skynyrd, AC/DC, Sabbath, that kind of music. Can you recommend another Les Paul for this kind of music? Thank you.

    I Liked the Slash and 50s models the best. Hard to say which one I'd buy but more than likely I would go for the 50s. But if I got the right deal on a Slash model in appetite burst I couldn't say no.

    The classic provides a ton of options and is gorgeous but the weight of it is what throws me off. I chose the 50’s standard and never looked back.

    The new 60's is the perfect storm for me - non-weight relief, Grover tuners, thinner neck, Alnico 5 pickups with unbalanced coils and a nitro finish. I've bought two of them (an Iced Tea and an Unburst - btw the unburst looks better on the internet, the iced tea looks better in person). All I did was swap out the awful truss rod cover that says "Standard" on it with a blank one, and put the non-reflector top hat knobs on (like the 50's one). Literally the perfect guitars. I love them to no end.

    I went with the LP Standard 60's Unburst myself. Didn't want the thick neck of the 50's or the circuit board in the classic.
    Messing around with Slash and Sykes stuff, tones are nice right out of a $180 30 watt Orange Amp that has a clean and dirty channel with plenty of Gain and reverb.

    A lot of money for any of these. I got a used 97 ebony with gold trim studio with ebony fretboard. Came with 496/500 pups ,straplocks and a chainsaw case. Since I've had it Ive changed a lot of the parts like Kluson locking tuners, Tusc XL nut, Tonespro locking bridge, CTS 500K pots, 50's wiring and IMHO made it a better guitar. All that for about $1400. Looks classic, plays nice.

    The Burstbucker 61s are actually lower in output the BB1 and 2 but use A5 magnets which give a tighter more aggressive tone with tighter bass and and a sharper treble attack . The BB 61 are also wound differently. They have more windings on the screw coil where the BB1 BB2 BB3 are wound hotter on the slug coil which give them more low mids and a fatter warmer tone . More windings on the screw coil gives more upper mids and treble and a brighter thinner tone. So between the A5 magnets and a hotter screw coil the BB 61 sound more aggressive while actually having a lower output reading. By 1961 gibson started to tighten up their winding practices and those latter Pafs from 61 were starting to become more consistent and end up with output levels lower and closer to the target output of the original PAf spec . The hottest PAfs come from 1959 and 1960 and have a wider output range compared to the ones from 61 and 62 even though the ones from 61 and 62 are brighter and more biting due to lower output and A5 magnets. A lower output pickup with an A5 magnet will often times sound hotter then a hotter wound pickup with an A2 magnet .
