I have a blue one of 1999 , it makes a lot of fun. The biggest benefits are: It has a lot of Torque, you don’t have to shift that much, it goes forward at around 1500 to 2000 rpm, very good indeed. IMHO this bike is on low rpm one of the best I have ever ridden so far. And with the 71 hp it goes forward quite quickly, I can reach 190 km/h on the German Autobahn with it. The noise of the Boxer is always a Pleasure to listen to. And the Telelever is really fantastic even on the bumpiest Roads it has great riding comfort. And also the built quality is rock solid, it seems to be built for always and forever, lol😂 the Resume of me is 100 % positive, mine has now 58000 km on it and I am quite sure that can put another 58 k on it, because it runs proper still and even looks very good for a 24 years old bike.
Funny that ive got this recommended. I have this exact same r850r that I daily to work. A lot of people dont like the sound but i enjoy it quite a bit. Also that typical klonk you get when you shift down into first. Love every bit of it
The algorithm is listening haha I changed the exhaust to "semi" straight pipe and I like it, it's not too obnoxious. Was a bit too quiet for the bad drivers in my city.. too many times I've had cars try to merge right into me. Hardly happens now that they can hear me lol it's a very special bike for sure!
Greetings to New Zealand from the Baltic (guess where that is 😂). Loving that particular sound of the BMW boxer, I am riding the same R850R. It seems to be a nice community 😊.
Been looking at one of these but some one had changed the seat height "bum on floor" Took it for a test ride and tell ya what I liked it infact I liked it a lot Whats the score re seat heights on these is it a new seat job or do they adjust ???? Eitherway nice up load Cheers !!
If the seat is stock they are adjustable, there should be like a "seat mount" that can move up and down under the seat. They're honestly great bikes, I've ridden other bikes of the same class and these stand out for sure ! Very underrated:) thanks!

@@davidsfixHey! What did you do to the exhaust? Did you remove the catalytic converter and weld the hole? sounds great
