Excellent Northumberland Winter Cod Session! | Start of the Winter Season Cod Series | Episode 1

- It'd be rude not to get out during or after the first proper northerly blow of the 2022/23 winter cod season. So we head north to a Northumberland beach for a low water session as the sea begins to settle but retains lots of that all important colour.
The effort was rewarded with David landing six fish, four of them codling along with the ever obliging coley and a guest surprise eel! An excellent session to kick start the winter season!

My mate caught a sizeable bass and gutted it,it had soft crab in its guts I told his son to tip his rag with it and with 10 minutes he had a nice smouthhound lol

Very productive session for this time of year, I was thinking cod might be a bit late due to the unusually hot summer we have just had. Might just hit a Northumberland beach this weekend 🙂 Nighttime camera work wasn't the worst lol, thoroughly enjoyed the video.

Thanks Mitchell much appreciated 🙏👍 if there’s some sea away try the beaches such as Whitley, Blyth or Cambois with crab and lug baits mate, if it’s flat the rock ends over low with crab and cart are worth a shot. Hope that helps.👍

Although some of the methods are slightly different , there's plenty of techniques and tips to take from you guys vids that can be incorporated into my own surf fishing .

Hi mate. Cart is the roe from the crab, it’s different to normal peeler crab. Hope that helps👍

what's cart or kart ,is it a reginial name
Hi Paul, thanks for watching. Cart is an edible crab based bait. It’s the roe from a female crab that is compacted into sticks of bait inside tubular bandage. We also get wings which are also the roe from a female edible crab but come out as flat bright red disc type shapes. Hope that helps👍

Love you videos, I've tried fishing in Northumberland the last 3 years on family holidays been to amble , longhortion holy island & many other places love it up there . I usually fish around Blackpool area because I live near Manchester, with mixed results, thanks again keep fishing 🎣
