    Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

"When I'm nervous I know I'm alive, because if I was dead I wouldn't be nervous" Thank you for that Jack. Wish I heard this back in my high school days.

this really resonated with me. I once wrote a poem and read it out loud to the class. it was about wanting to grown up enough to challenge my mother's ex (my step father at the time) and that was the first time the children in the class actually got a sense of who I was as a person. ppl that I normally had no interaction with suddenly wanted to know more about me or hear what I was going to read next. Write the truth. such a powerful lesson

What a wonderful charismatic individual he is.. The part that touched me most was the reference to the phone call he received while being in lake Commo, in Italy. Identical with my case.. I was in lake Geneva, Switzerland on vacation when I received that kind of phone call...

@5:17 you see him light up talking about his son and the cards his son gave him. You can see him lighting up just at the thought. It’s amazing how doing something small for someone can bring joy for such a long time.

It is inspiring & refreshing to watch someone who is not only smart & articulate but also.graced with the.willingness & ability to be their authentically vulnerable self on camera.
This is a Master Class in writing & authenticity. He is proof that these two things marry well indeed.
Thank you for these wonderful episodes with Mr. Grapes.

So many writers have brushes with death which change them, send them on a journey. Searching. And in that searching, writing.
I lost my dad eleven years ago at 19, and I changed fundamentally. Creativity is not just an outlet, but a world we can build on our own, for ourselves, face unimaginable darknesses, and take it all on the chin-put it in the story! Don’t forget to love others around you, while you write on that great search.

While I don't have much interest in writing screenplays, I have been captivated by this channel recently. What is captivating me is the stories we tell ourselves and the stories we gravitate towards.

My first Screenplay to win an award came from my experience as a father. My fears about fatherhood and for my child's safety. I cried writing it and others said they cried reading it. Fear and Love are two of the most powerful emotions humans experience. Those two emotions, and I might add Hope, sum up parenthood.
Oh and my screenplay won two awards and I'm in talks with a director/producer about getting it made. Real emotion gets noticed.

I was afraid to watch this, I'm worried sick about the woman I love and if I'll ever get to tell her and also being a young man who's never met his father, Im crying a mixture of tears, sorrow, joy, regret, and hope
