What are these car manufacturers doing? They can't keep up with parts for so many new cars and trucks and yet keep coming out with new models that they won't be able to fix when they break. Its like short term financial goals.
They should make a removable diesel power pack option that sits in the bed that can optionally charge the truck on the move for range extension. Basically a removable hybrid capability. In addition because this is a work truck the power pack could be used as a remote power bank for lighting, heavy tools and welding, transfer pumps, emergency generator etc while still allowing the truck itself to be used onsite by itself. End of the day you load up your diesel pack and go home.
That's never happening. Or maybe they literally sell 25 at that price before the dealers get their mitts on it. The new standard for EV trucks is 50k minimum. I don't see that changing unless the cyber truck starts a price war. And I don't see that happening, because the base models fly off the shelves at current prices.
Why do EV makers always do the range and power math for perfect weather and flat roads? That’s no where in this country and it’s becoming false advertising at this point. Just give people the lower number from the average in all terrains and weather they are expected to use and a perfect environment number. Like a “hey you can get 300 mi, but the truck has the potential for 390 in great conditions.”

Why? My company gas Ram 1500 wont go 450miles on a tank.
Defeats the point of an ev…TO NOT POLLUTE AND STINK.
i dont like that dash with the square screens
$80,000 bare bones work truck tax not included 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wasnt the WT suppose to be a 40k truck?
This isn’t the base WT.. Though to your point, I imagine the base WT when it comes out will be more than expensive thank $40k.
Perfect a soccer mom in charge of designing the Silverado EV …. Makes perfect sense
Same thing I said , everything about it is impressive, if it looked like my 2022 silverado, it would be a contender... but here we are .. womp womp
Should be easy maintenance vehicle..no oil plugs wires coolant..let's see how long the Electric motors lasts
What cools/warms the batteries.. coolant does, it has a Radiator and hose.. no oil tho
I must take out a mortgage to buy one.
So did they buy this truck?
Im about to buy a kia and put a hitch on it. The hell with truck prices. Congrats to all you who can afford a $1k truck payment.
That's already how it works. The Hummer EV is officially rated 329 miles but owners are getting up to 400 miles.
ICE trucks do the same thing. My Ecodiesel is supposed to get 28mpg. I only got that with stock tires on flat roads going 65 max.
My Escalade is supposed to get 13mpg city/18mpg hwy but it gets 8mpg city/12mpg hwy and that's with just me driving it. It's definitely frustrating.
That is called marketing
I wonder how is the repairability on this car. People are not talking enough about cost of ownership as it pertains to repairability, like say I want to source my own parts and do my own work?
Seems like they should just put a push to start button instead of using the the screen. I guess I’m getting old
Come on on TFL i know you can do better. How many times are we going to talk to the same engineer in more than a year’s time about a vehicle that hasn’t even touch consumers hands yet? 3 times i bet one more.
How often does a chief product engineer appear in public to openly answer questions about the product one on one? Like very rarely. TFL was wise to get the interview.
why is the steering wheel twitching so much?
ok, so andre hops out to grab coffee after turning truck on...and someone hops in without fob....can they drive off?
I am thinking of Landscapers use electric leaf blowers, lawn mowers, saws, all that. No gasoline/natural gas generator that weighs 300lbs in the bed.
na gas blowers , chainsaw, lawn mower
only letric is drill
Get an 80k truck to mow lawns 😂.. makes sense 🤪
Government Motors still has good design team. But for technology hell to the nooooo
we going to have 20 guys at the job site figuring out how the screens works and fat gingering everything.😆 Where are the big icons to use in 30*F cold weather with gloves? Make a real truck homedepot flower 💐 💐 lady. Still there is lots to Love about the truck, like the sub $45,000 price tag, still waiting for my. WT
How long until they move to nacs? Will they offer converters in 24?
i have key anxiety with this truck
I wonder how long it will take until your told to not park it indoors or within 50ft of anything, not to fully charge it or to let it fully discharge it do to "thermal events" like the bolt.
They fixed that. It was an LG issue, not a GM issue. Also it was a totally different battery architecture.
@@LoneWanderer479sadly for this type of anti-*EV/gm* crowd, none of those facts will matter. They’ll call it a *gm* issue and add it to their list of reasons they must boycott the thing. They will believe what they choose to believe at this point, usually the worst news whether fake or factual.
"They" already tell you not to park your ICE truck indoors while idling and do not store your gasoline in open containers due to "thermal events" that happen.
almost need a degree to know how to operate everything in this thing jeez
Only for 99,999.99
And another sales flop... they can't get electronics in Andres Colorado to work... so let's buy an all electric from them. Lmao
Lol what a embarrassment it must have been for the "Chief engineer" when Andres must have brought it up
@@vivekkaushik9508 100% 🤣
They seem to make better ev software then ICE software
Ford engineers would never do this..😜
Hummer EV full offroad capability 😂😂😂😂😂
No physical button to start/stop the truck? Bad idea, IMO. What if the infotainment screen fails (it will most likely fail)?
The starter motor fails too on an ICE truck too....
Air suspension sucks and I won't buy any truck with rear coil springs
I’m just not excited for this appliance truck.
dont waste your money on government intiative, buy a V8 and tell your government we have right to own V8s
GM can't seem to do anything correct lately. Pass.
What do you mean?
I replaced my fleet 2 Years ago with crew cab 3500 diesel chevy trucks, 2 of them have passed 100k miles already with no issues..
Does it have the hidden feature that if you drive in 50 degree weather you lose half your range?
Love the specs and the price is doable for me, but damn it's ugly... Why did they make an avalanche ev instead of an actual Silverado ev?
would have get this truck if wasnt broke
That's an expensive "work truck" lol. Out of touch is the words that come to mind. Do they think nichol is the average customer for a work truck? 🤔
i dont like that there is no on/off button. what if i dont want it to come on when i get in or turn off when i leave it? there are instances for both. spend the $5 gm and add a on/off switch
ehh 4X4 crew cab HD gasser starts at 53K and you need a shop to work on them and 5 $120K/ yr mechanics. plus parts inventory.
so buy 10 3WT ev's $730,000 you get $75,000 back on taxes. so $655,000
or 10 6.6 gassers for $530,000 (a $125K savings.... buttt)
your mechanics alone cost you $600K per year (plus benefits, etc. so add 20% to that.)
Shop building another $120K-150K per year
you'll spend another $2,000 in oil every 5,000 miles
plus your fuel bill. ~ $35,000 per 5k miles. (your guys idle the engines all day for the CB radios)
plus you'll need a $7,000 honda generator that WILL get stolen regularly.
ORRR you just buy the EV
You’ll still need the generator to keep it charged while away from civilization, and we’ll as during the winter months. And yes, the generator will likely still get stolen
I ... will never buy an ev
Exclusively a fleet.. that's where I stop the video and wait until a regular private contractor can get one. ✌️
If it has neutral, can you tow behind a motorhome?
Chevy uses some of the cheapest plastics known to man and those practices have had an effect on build quality since the 1980's, you can thank Roger Smith for that. The Silverado EV is a continuance of that reality with cheap plastics despite a six figure price tag. I would rather eat the 100k in dollar bills than spend it on that Silverado EV disaster. American EV's are the absolute worst in the industry, its not even debatable.
When will the Silverado EV come with the NACS charging port?
This video is giving me anxiety, How she sweeps over EV s weak points as if its better than ICE for towing.
Ford has the best EV truck EVER because its practical, this thing is blankety impractical, way to heavy, it most likely will destroy tires. Way to expensive to be called a work truck.
Yay another truck the common working man can't afford to buy! But it can be yours for an affordable starting price of 80000 ( base model) and 98000 decently equipped!
No thanks I'll stick with my gas engine or the hybrid f150 is actually me affordable ( used) then this! And has better range
No thanks ...
All this is irrelevant. There is not one on the road. Dealers have no clue when will it be available, I was told by GM that they don't know when it will be available
By the time it comes out, all this will be outdated and irrelevant
lot of BS there about pricing Tesla dropped its prices for their top line EVs about 20 to 30000 how about that
EV Trail Boss starting at $145K.😅😅😅 Why didnt you ask her why they neglected to add the multi pro tailgate to the work truck. Also what is the cost while using a tesla charger.
Nobody Wants It
