Not even classic videos were as vanilla as this one... Orc & Troll left to go of the "standard" races, which one do we tackle first? You decide over on Twitter...
I simply play a human because being the most generic race rolling up with the most generic name in a group of half demon lookalikes, elves and shorter humans is really funny to me for some reason.
No pit's of doom ? has the goblin ever taken a dip in Stormwinds finest canal waters. 100% guarantee to remove all of your immunities and give you all kinds of cool diseases.
The reason I play and RP a human is because they're actually more interesting than races like Night elves who live for thousands of years yet have the intelligence of a rock, have barely any emotions and have a boring or unoriginal background despite having lived that long. This applies to most races that have lived for thousands of years. I don't know why but I've only had the best experience RPing with humans, trolls and goblins. They're usually a guaranteed fun interaction unless the human is a copy paste Mercenary no. 26930 All in all, it's really the writer of the character that makes them shine out. Good writing and an average amount of creativity and passion (shocker) does a lot in itself. Just like IRL, if you have a boring, blank personality and talk as if you are forced to rehearse a script I doubt many people would flock around you.
Definitely two sides to this. When I played WoW, I tried almost every race/class combination. From my experience, I think people who pick any other race want to "escape" real life and immerse themselves further by being something other than human. Having played human as well, I think there is also a level of satisfaction when you play something perceived as plain/vanilla, because it proves anybody can become something great -and everyone loves and underdog. They don't have to be some ten thousand year-old being to be fun to play - or from an RPing standpoint, make an interesting character. That being said, this is coming from someone who has a soft spot for Blood Elves (it was the first race I ever played, back when TBC came out). While I've seen a lot of people use race as a crutch in trying to make their characters interesting, I think any characters - no matter what they are - can be compelling and well-written. Many will look at the race and make assumptions based off lore/clichés, and the fun thing about a world like WoW's, it's that pretty much anything is possible. I've always had fun trying to break down those assumptions right off the bat. Other than that, I think my best experience besides playing Wow for the first time was when I actually sat down and tried playing a human. My siblings were never that much into WoW, but I had convinced my younger brother to play and I told him I'd play through whatever race he wanted. He picked human and I - hesitantly - picked a human as well. Funnily enough, my brother only got to about level 10 before he decided he didn't want to play anymore. Instead of deleting my character, I continued to play. Just to see what was in store for humans after Elwynn Forest (I had leveled other races there before). At the time (I think this was after Cataclysm), I managed to level my way through Westfall and Duskwood. Westfall's overarching mystery questline and Duskwood's Mor'Ladim quests were some of the most memorable. Even though I only played through them once, I remember them like yesterday. Last time I played, I believe I got that character all the way through Dustwallow Marsh as well. Don't think I passed level 50, but if I were to play again, I would definitely log back onto that character. A wild ride.
Missed an opportunity: "Hello Orc friend, may I ask you a question about humans?" "Sure." "How would you feel if you lived in a universe where a human was controlling every thing you do and everything you say?"
The reason I like to play human in fantasy games is because they aren't very memorable by themselves. "Hey you're that gnome player!" "Hey you're the big cow man!" Nobody is gonna say "Hey you're that human" So you gotta work to be memorable, and that - I like, people remember human characters for their actions and personality, not just their race.

Winning against super-strong towering and magically enhanced creatures as a mere boy or girl with a plain and honest wish to protect the farm is what being a human in Warcraft is all about.

I respected the Humans of Lordaeron and the Nation of Azeroth. I say this as a Horde main. They were quite the force to be reckoned with in Warcraft II with courage second to none. Was even starting to respect Varian right before they killed him off. They're not the most boring humans to ever be in fantasy, and they've certainly carved out their niche in the franchise. Wouldn't even hate to play as one, actually. Boring? Aesthetically, yes. Detestable and unbearable? Nope. They've got personality and are actually somewhat unique for humans in fanstasy.
I'm mainly Worgen because Worgen Hunter is just objectively one of the most badass Race/Class combos, but my second most played is Human. To Preface, in Elder Scrolls I mostly play Argonian because, well I'm a Scaly and Lizard people are just cool, but I also play a lot of Khajit, Redgaurd, hell my first ever ES character was an Orc. In Divinity however I ONLY play Lizard, not just because I'm a Scaly, but because they just made the lore around them and their culture so fun to get into, and how they interact with the world is amazing. Along with the Human Leveling zones post Cataclysm just being ridiculous in the best ways (Looking at you Redridge). Hell pre cataclysm having a story line that was much more familiar and down to earth was really refreshing, but Humans and how they fit in with the other races are just fun. Being a Human makes visiting the other kingdoms feel so much cooler. A Human walking into Kharnos in Loch Modan makes you feel like an adventurer traveling to strange lands, a Night Elf walking into Goldshire or even Ironforge just doesn't feel the same because you're an already strange creature entering a strange place. To summarize: Humans are cool because they make the world around you seem cooler, your de-emphasizing your character and putting more interest in the world. Thank you for listening to my insane 9 am ramblings.
I never got the argument that humans are boring. Its like bruh do you remember the story of arthas? and just about every other story in the warcraft universe? humans are not boring.
Whenever a game gives me the option to go completely crazy with my character design I like to use it, but I know that a lot of people prefer to create a character that represents them physically or just like more down to earth aesthetics
I play humans because I am not a shallow, narcissist who has to be different in order to have fun. Humans' backstory and their connection to Tyr is interesting too. So suck on that Orcs!
"Humans are basic" says the people playing the popular and bland options like elves or midgets (dwarves, gnomes and such) or orcs, they are a blank slate they literally could be anything and if you can't make an interesting character out of one then you are boring
To be fair, WoW humans have quite a particular origin and are different from other humans in other fantasy universes. To begin with, they are, technically, cousins of the Dwarves and the Gnomes since they also come from titanic creations, I mean, the Vrykul, since, as you know, humans are nothing more and nothing less than the deformed and dwarfed children of the Vrykul who succumbed to the curse of the flesh that also affected Terraneos (Dwarfs) and Mechagnomos (Gnomes). So those three races in particular are artificial, almost unnatural creations created by higher beings and introduced to an alien world for them and they also went through a lot of mutations and alterations.
That transmog point is a really big yay for me. Plus, being a human gives you a lot of options to choose for RP: gilnean, kul tiran, stormwindian and so on; aaaand they also seem to me as the most adaptable to all kinds of RP and questlines I do.
Going through all the races good and bad points is all well and good. But I think “Why Orasi, a comprehensive list of why I fear for my life” is what the people want.
•Night Elves are hippies •Gnomes are children •Dwarves are drunks •Blood Elves are arseholes •Vulpera are furries •Void Elves are crappy OCs •Worgen are Hulk furries •Orcs are neanderthralls •Trolls are pathetic losers •Tauren belong in burger king •Undead are cringe edge lord's •Goblins have to pays taxes •Draenei watch too much hentai •Pandas are weebs •Nightborne are drug addicts All of these options, and you ask why I play Human? Here's a better question; "Why is Human the ONLY sane option?
I'm guilty of being a human because every single piece of armor looks cools on them. While my favorite race is Night Elf sadly they can't be paladins :(
-leans into microphone- because it’s not the fucking race if the character that matters, this is even more prevalent in D&D character building and RP. Being an underdog is fun and not being a fantastical mythical creature yet still being able to reach great achievements anyway is satisfying, and in RP so many take elf or draenei that it is so heavily drowned out in characters people feel the need to make tens of thousands of years old yet portray the maturity level of a 12 year old. SO many peoooe live making RP characters a fantasy race but don’t actually make an interesting character, and hey try and let the race carry it all. Mogs look fucking great on humans too.
Pretty much the entire human lore is them just pushing trough and never giving up ever. It's the singular reason they've come to be a dominat species in wow. All other races have something special like magic affinity or are super strong. Humans just never give up.
My reason for playing human in a lot of fantasy games is pretty simple. Because all of the players are human in real life, the humans in fantasy games tend to get some of the most attention and focus in the lore. They're also usually the most flexible in terms of builds/classes that can work well for them (at least in games where it matters). One big exception is The Elder Scrolls where I play Dunmer most often, precisely because they have the most in-depth lore and because they have the most balanced skill/racial bonuses and attributes in Morrowind, Oblivion, and ESO (moreso than Imperials even)
Im a simple guy, i play human because i like to immerse myself on to them so i can immerse myself in the world better. They are more relatable than a space goat with tentacles. They are cool too, but not my forté 9/10.
If he ask in Alliance side the humans in there would write paragarphs of biblical lenghts about how they are awsome and better than any other race on Azeroth
I used to be "why would you play human when you can be some other AWESOME race". Nowdays, when played many many years, human animations and bodyshape feels special and fresh as you have not seen those much before.
The reason humans can be and are interesting in fantasy settings is a double edged sword. On one hand, you have a lot of copy pasted cultures drawn from real life, names switched around and that ends up being 80% of a worlds living spaces. It ends up falling flat. However, on the other end; when you see the elf lord Thuranduiralriakl wielding the ancient uruthejala steel great blade eulrhgtjghasjkasdkjashaksdhkl, chosen by the gods to fight the demon lords, its boring and you know what's gonna happen. When farmer Bill of the Applebottom family with his mighty pitchfork ass stabber goes to do the same thing, it becomes a lot more interesting.
When you stop and think about it, in a world full of magical and fantastical creatures humans aren't the ordinary run of the mill thing, because they have no notion that they themselves are "uncommon" and differ from reality because their reality is full of elfes, orcs, and that kind of stuff, so humans end up being amongst the other racers, fantastical in their own right That being said, I still prefer to play anything else beside a human :v
I come with Warhammer 40k mindset. Humans are the master race and others are there just to be dominated or exterminated. Dwarfs are the only true ally to Humans and they can stay and live in their mountains but the rest is for humans only. And only angry Varian was good Varian as soon as he started seeing peace as an option with the horde he started getting boring. I am hoping Turalyon becomes our God-Emperor and starts a crusade to cleanse Azeroth.
I like playing a Human because I can create them to look like me then give them my name and it’s like I, myself am in the world. I’ve noticed that I’m more committed to these characters.
I think humans are rather interesting because of their lore and the variety they bring. Sure high elves will always be my favorite race but humans are number two because of kingdoms like Lordaeron, Stromgarde and Alterac. The amounts of options you have as a human is insane when it comes to RP and they have earned their place in the world for all they have done.
One of the traits most people overlook in wow humans is their insane adaptability. If a place exists a human will build a place there, coastline on a swamp? Theres a human village there, the only green place left on the blasted lands? Guess what theres a human village there too. The brokenshore where its an ancient elven temple to the moon goddess and the oldest surving nightelf city resides? What do you find there tucked away? A human village. Also we now have desert humans in Uldum. Humans are also some of the fastest learners when it comes to the arcane arts and their sheer will of fuck you im doing the thing anyway has saved us from more than a few disasters. Hell warcrafts most famous and well known villains are or were friggin humans for fucks sakes, Kel'Thuzad, Mediv, Arthas, they'er all humans my guy.
people who think humans in fantasy settings are automatically bland are the same people who think picking an exotic race and class is enough to make a "unique and interesting" character despite everyone doing the exact same thing as them
Humans; Because we are the OGs. We were there to defend Azeroth when the Orcs first invaded; We can be Paladins; We're the most charismatic (10%+ rep); we are the most ferocious, as we also live the shortest, yet are able to fight off enemies like the Orcs and the Legion; We discovered the Light, without any external help, and thus must be the most connected (suck on that, lightforged Draenei!); Our women are some of the most beautiful beings in the realms; We are the most flexible and can play any class (except for Demon Hunter) (yes, Kul Tirans are humans too, which covers Shamans and Druids); We have great adaptability; Not mana addicted, yet one of the strongest Arcane users; not influenced by Demonic forces (Medivh is the exception, as he literally was taken over by Sargeras) like the Orcs; We can be Paladins; We have great friendships with the Gnomes and Dwarves, etc, etc.
Being a human is actual quite novel when you're in a fantasy universe filled with all of these other stange and mystical races. When fantasy is the norm, reality sticks out like a sore thumb.
I am one of those players who can't do humans when there are so many other options. However, you've got to admit that the human lore in WoW is no slouch. It's interesting. It's complex. The humans of Azeroth have gone so far and done so much; you can find them virtually everywhere. And they say orcs are invasive! So many RPGs are guilty of slapping humans at the center of the narrative with no justifiable cause in-game. But WoW answers all those questions. The humans have earned their place. They're at the heart of the lore, not just 'because hoomans', but because their actions are intertwined into everything.
8:01 ahhh God I miss goblins damn you blizzard for ruining your own game! as a goblin main it’s really hard to see the goblins going down with the wow ship 😩
Same. I never got into WoW-RP, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't sound fun seeing these videos. But maybe I'll try it in FFXIV some time instead. I don't think the universe is quite as interesting from a RP perspective, but I think it might be fun regardless.
@@StarlitSoryn Yeah maybe but for me I got emotionally attached to the goblins in World of Warcraft I really consider myself one of them I got emotionally attached to my goblin main gave him his own personality and I loved every single quest involving the goblins I could make a whole list of why I like the goblins from World of Warcraft so it just pains me to see them going down this road because blizzard is making stupid decisions it’s always been my dream ever since wow’s been going downhill to just buy the rights to the goblins and make my own game with them but that probably won’t happen 😩
In a fantasy world, the standard is always humans. Either it's a world with aliens, a post apocalyptic planet, a world with elves and orcs, a world with a battle between heaven and hell, superheros, etc. Humans is the race that exists the most in fantasy settings.
Male human Death Knight/Paladin is the quintessential warcraft and peak fantasy aesthetic. Other races literally cannot compete. It's fun and cool for me, so there's literally no other reason to play anything else.
So Im boring for having picked a human character. wow you really flexed those creative muscles when you clicked one of those other options. The sheer magnitude of your imagination and creativity is truly breathtaking. I must rest now having witnessed something so awe inspiring it cannot be meant for my humble human eyes. One thing before I depart though. If you think the choosing of character race is any measure of a persons ability to be fun, creative or imaginative Im sorry to say youre so far from being interesting youre worse than the people who watch the news to come up with conversation topics.
It is simple really. The humans "blandness" allows one to rp a larger variety of characters, because they don't have a stereotype associated with them.
I don't really play humans maybe have 2 or 3 but from a role play perspective they tend to bring a lot of options to the table in what they can be. Also since the alliance tends to be full of like 95% elves and spacegoats...well.. humans and the rest tend to be the more special and unique races. Elves and Draenei are the equivalent of vulpera on the alliance.
How dare you? We humans have honor we're the ones there defeated the frecking lich king we are the main paladins and we devoted our lives to fight the evil savage horde there slaughtered hundreds if not thousands of the innocents!
Christian Finnish Frostiis The true question is why would you even play Alliance, and the second question why there is not Church of The Holy Light on Horde side so that Horde as the good guys of WoW could wage Holy War against Alliance aggressors

•Undead are cringe edge lord's
•Goblins have to pays taxes
•Draenei watch too much hentai
•Pandas are weebs
•Nightborne are drug addicts
All of these options, and you ask why I play Human? Here's a better question; "Why is Human the ONLY sane option?
Did not even ask any human of "why human", but great stuff Kakio 👍
No one left online for alliance to pose the question to lol
I'm guilty of being a human because every single piece of armor looks cools on them. While my favorite race is Night Elf sadly they can't be paladins :(
-leans into microphone-
because it’s not the fucking race if the character that matters, this is even more prevalent in D&D character building and RP.
I'm surprised no one went full 40K as their reasoning for picking human
The Emperor protects
Pretty much the entire human lore is them just pushing trough and never giving up ever. It's the singular reason they've come to be a dominat species in wow. All other races have something special like magic affinity or are super strong. Humans just never give up.
I can't even tell you how much I enjoy your content 😄
My reason for playing human in a lot of fantasy games is pretty simple. Because all of the players are human in real life, the humans in fantasy games tend to get some of the most attention and focus in the lore. They're also usually the most flexible in terms of builds/classes that can work well for them (at least in games where it matters).
One big exception is The Elder Scrolls where I play Dunmer most often, precisely because they have the most in-depth lore and because they have the most balanced skill/racial bonuses and attributes in Morrowind, Oblivion, and ESO (moreso than Imperials even)
My reason for playing human is because it's just cool to be a normal frail human taking on dragons elemental lords undead monsters etc.
Im a simple guy, i play human because i like to immerse myself on to them so i can immerse myself in the world better. They are more relatable than a space goat with tentacles.
They are cool too, but not my forté 9/10.
so you only asked the horde what they think of humans ...odd
If he ask in Alliance side the humans in there would write paragarphs of biblical lenghts about how they are awsome and better than any other race on Azeroth
It’s called fun.
Darn right it is!
I wonder what the forsaken will say because they were human
I used to be "why would you play human when you can be some other AWESOME race". Nowdays, when played many many years, human animations and bodyshape feels special and fresh as you have not seen those much before.
people who say humans are boring are the same people that think a wacky race is a substitute for a personality
In the end all other races are just different shaped humans..."Humans are boring! Look at my ears,im a elf"
When you stop and think about it, in a world full of magical and fantastical creatures humans aren't the ordinary run of the mill thing, because they have no notion that they themselves are "uncommon" and differ from reality because their reality is full of elfes, orcs, and that kind of stuff, so humans end up being amongst the other racers, fantastical in their own right
That being said, I still prefer to play anything else beside a human :v
Diplomacy makes rep grinding a little more bearable. That's my only reason to stay human.
doesnt make the "Insane" grind any less insane... where's our Vanilla TW Rep Buff!?
Slacker was my favorite part of this video
I come with Warhammer 40k mindset. Humans are the master race and others are there just to be dominated or exterminated. Dwarfs are the only true ally to Humans and they can stay and live in their mountains but the rest is for humans only. And only angry Varian was good Varian as soon as he started seeing peace as an option with the horde he started getting boring. I am hoping Turalyon becomes our God-Emperor and starts a crusade to cleanse Azeroth.
yes a new video going to watch this after work tomorrow
I like playing a Human because I can create them to look like me then give them my name and it’s like I, myself am in the world. I’ve noticed that I’m more committed to these characters.
Ew
¨a big giant canon of doom needs to blow up something¨
we need to give a good party to vulperas then.
My Human Mage, Grimdalf, is someone who I just love to play the most due to the epic immersion.
i swear no matter how much blizzard fucks up, role players always seem to have the most fun
This video made me laugh so much. Wow machinima hasnt been this good for a long time. Except maybe Captain Grim
I think humans should get to chose alliance or horde. Pandas should be alliance only.
Why Night elf: endless utility with Shadowmeld for every class. I rest my case.
God I love these videos !
You ever think of viewer games and having them take you on a tour of their home city ?
The Alliance: human, short human, short and fat human, human with long ears, furry human, goat human.
You found half the remaining Horde RP population? What a champion! :D
people who think humans in fantasy settings are automatically bland are the same people who think picking an exotic race and class is enough to make a "unique and interesting" character despite everyone doing the exact same thing as them
Humans; Because we are the OGs.
What is there not to like? People always put us down as 'vanilla', which is weird because vanilla is fucking expensive AND delicious!
You can be Human or that edglord orc... choice is obvious
@@battleax6364 how are goblins going downhill?
@@Bahumet22 it’s not the goblins that are going down it’s World of Warcraft it’s self and they’re going down with the ship along with everyone else
you should ask humans why humans
This was fun.
Ogres bake them withe blood inside, trolls pick the meat and make jerky. Meanwhile we forsaken likes them raw and wriggling.
Here's the thing: in a fantasy world aren't orcs and elves the standard, thus they're the boring vanilla race?
In a fantasy world, the standard is always humans. Either it's a world with aliens, a post apocalyptic planet, a world with elves and orcs, a world with a battle between heaven and hell, superheros, etc. Humans is the race that exists the most in fantasy settings.
*human male aggro sound*
Slacker is such a vibe :D
i just play humans because uhhh im a human and i dont like the other races quest, and yes the armour looks better
Male human Death Knight/Paladin is the quintessential warcraft and peak fantasy aesthetic. Other races literally cannot compete.
It's fun and cool for me, so there's literally no other reason to play anything else.
This entire video is going: "but but guys they are not the booring.. i swear... please"
I picked human to be authentically racist towards other races, which I can't do irl.
Hahaha 😂
You should pick a night elf then those guys are super racist and assholes
What? No Alliance side? I wanna confirm that Night elf kink!.... for a friend, yes, my human friend...
Love u kakio :D
It is simple really. The humans "blandness" allows one to rp a larger variety of characters, because they don't have a stereotype associated with them.
I don't really play humans maybe have 2 or 3 but from a role play perspective they tend to bring a lot of options to the table in what they can be.
Also since the alliance tends to be full of like 95% elves and spacegoats...well.. humans and the rest tend to be the more special and unique races. Elves and Draenei are the equivalent of vulpera on the alliance.
Just so i can play Joe the Human Axe Murderer
Axe Murderer is so last season, even Human ideas are boring, now people are into Air Elemental Fishpole Ear Cutter
@@LordMrF Its a family tradition, passed on by my Father Tim by his Father Vin from his Father Git by his Father Bill. Dont make light of it please.
you can also mog yourself as a spartan warrior oooh.
How dare you? We humans have honor we're the ones there defeated the frecking lich king we are the main paladins and we devoted our lives to fight the evil savage horde there slaughtered hundreds if not thousands of the innocents!
Why Human? Because I want to conquer the fantasy races and worlds.
you forgot khadgar
Main reason why non pvpers play human is that rep bonus. Makes some of them almost bearable
Christian Finnish Frostiis The true question is why would you even play Alliance, and the second question why there is not Church of The Holy Light on Horde side so that Horde as the good guys of WoW could wage Holy War against Alliance aggressors
Alliance players were not even consulted on their opinions of the first alliance race. RIP
