I grew up in the area during the 1960s , and there was hardly anything where the present Village Of Oak Creek is.. My father was a teacher at the nearby Verde Valley School and we lived there. The road from the highway was all dirt, and yes, it was impossible to keep a car clean. When we left in 1971 the area was starting to build up. One thing I would have liked was the Village Of Oak Creek school. In 1966 the school boundaries were changed. Since we lived in Yavapi county, we had to attend Cottonwood School. There was no west Sedona School. There was only one school in Sedona in Coconino county. So the school bus ride to Cottonwood was long.
As someone considering moving to Sedona, thank you so much! This is very helpful. I had a line on a spot at the VOC but i knew nothing about it. This really helps
Thanks for all this great info! You mentioned going through a car wash - are there restrictions to washing your car in driveway with a hose? How about other water restrictions? Thank you!
I love Village of Oak Creek, l want to live there so bad, trying to convince my husband ,we are both retired, ages 67 and 66, there doesn't seem to be much housing for 55 and over, affordable too prices, like smaller lock and leave homes! 2 bedroom with 2 bathrooms! Wish there were more options.
Hey 👋 Hey 👋 Thankyou 💙 Making my way too this bueatiful area! Are there homes with property on the market along oak creek? I really loved Sky dancers lay out... Will be seeing all soon!
There is a 55+ community in Oak Creek Canyon that is beautiful, but this weekend we got so much snow that the road was closed! I sometimes get the names of the other 3 mixed up, but there's one in West Sedona (Sunset Village?) mobile home park. Then 2 far west Sedona, Sedona Shadows (mobile home park) and Sunset Hills (might have the name of the one mixed up, but its a 55+ manufactured home community where you own the land and the home. There is also an Assisted Living Facility in Sedona-Village of Oak Creek that has extra services for seniors requiring a little help. Sedona Windos. Beuatiful views, but that's about all I know about it.
Hi, can you please tell me the name of the 'regular' 55+ community that you referred to ? (Not modular or rv). Do you have any information about it? Thanks!
@@pattyweiland4882Hi Patty, the 55 plus communities are the manufactured home parks she referenced- to my knowledge they don't have any "stick built" 55+ communities like you see all over the Phoenix area. Hope this helps

You do a great job for us Dawn. Much love!
Born and raised in the VOC. It will never ever ever be again what it used to be growing up. You have no idea what a wonderful quiet place it was.
