This kinda makes me sad countries outside europe can't compete in eurovision because trot songs would go down an absolute STORM with the eurovision crowd, especially amor fati!

I love trot! I remember when Lizzy from After School (and Orange Caramel) came out with "Not an Easy Girl" and it completely changed my mind about trot. I would love to see more kpop artists experiment with trot songs, even just as b-sides on their albums.

No it's incorrect information. Korean "Trot" and Japanese "Enka" are both came from Korean traditional folk music. Trot is not came from Enka and Enka is not came from Trot. There were many Japanese people who live in Korea in Japanese occupation era. Koga Masao is a father of Enka and he was one of them. He lived in Korea 11 years and he was heavily influenced by Korean folk songs at that time(He admitted it himself). Trot and Enka are siblings who have same parents(Korean traditional folk music).

I think I first heard trot music while watching the kdrama 'Reply 1988' since it was set in the 80s and 90s and therefore was played there a lot, but I didn't know then that it was called 'trot'. I think trot is quite similar to old songs from Eastern Europe and when watching this video I found myself thinking that trot music would do pretty well in Eurovision 😂

「트로트」 is music derived from "Japanese Enka" in the era when Japan annexed Korea.
In Japan, it is called "Korean Enka". Enka=演歌
Japanese "enka" is also very popular in Taiwan.
