That's has to be one of the best instructional videos I have ever watched! If you want to sponsor the build of my mk2 cortina get in touch! Keep up the great work 💪🏻😎

Beware ! The flaring of the bundy tube reduces its length by approx 3mm. So, when you mark the length ( see video at 6'40" ) be sure to cut the tube with an extra 3 to 4mm.

The CBS catalog recommends connecting the wiper motor with a sophisticated Lucas square rocker switch.
However, I built my dashboard with a single pole on/off switch. So, how to connect the wiper motor ?
The Lucas 14W motor works with 3 cables :
    - a blue one for ground, connected to pin 1 of the terminal
    - a yellow one for fast speed connected on pin 3
    - a red one for slow speed connected to pin 5
If you do not care about the park function, you can simply connect these pins to an off/on switch for one speed or off/on/on switch for two speed operation.
If you want to use the park function, then a word of explanation is necessary. Inside the terminal, there is an inverter switch activated by the park function. When running, this switch connects pin 2 and 4. When parked, the switch connects pin 2 and 1 ie ground. Via the Lucas rocker switch, this brings ground to the motor to make it stop at the park position. Without this ground connection, the motor will slow down at park, but go on again, and never stop ! See the specific CBS video about the gear for more explanations about this switch. The problem is that, if you use a normal on/off switch to start, this ground connection will cause a short circuit. So, you have to disconnect this internal connection before starting the motor. This can be done with an additional inverter relay.
To use an on/off switch, connections are as follows :
    - ground to pin 1 and also relay 85
    - + feed to pin 4 and also to on/off switch
    - relay 86 to on/off switch to command the relay.
    - relay 86 and 87 jumped together
    - relay 30 to pin 5 for slow speed. No dual speed with this set-up.
    - relay 87a to pin 2
So, when the relay is activated, pin 5 receives + feed from 30, 87 and the on switch. When the relay is deactivated, pin 5 receives + feed from 30, 87a, pin2, the internal switch connected to pin4, pin4, and + feed. So the wipers can reach the park position. Waw ! When at park position, pin 5 receives ground from 30, 87a, pin2, the internal switch connected to pin1 and ground. This abruptly stops the motor.
If you use an inverter on/on switch, you do not need a relay, and the connections are very simple.
    - connect pin 1 to ground
    - connect pin 5 to the "feed" pin of the switch
    - connect pin 2 to the "off side" pin of the switch
    - connect pin 4 to + feed and to the "on side" pin of the switch
    Recommended
If you use an on/off/on switch, connect like on/on above. But the off position of the switch will give you an extra function : you can stop the wipers at any position ! So, you will have 3 functions : Park/Stop/On ! Because this switch is also easier to find, I do recommend this set-up !
To have Park/On/Stop in that more comfortable order, you can use the CBS #TSPA4 off/on/on switch as follows :
    - connect pin 1 to ground
    - connect pin 2 to pin 2 of the switch
    - connect pin 4 to + feed and to pin4 of the switch
    - connect pin 5 ( slow speed ) to pin 6 of the switch.

I have wipers that park facing each other and wiper outwards. Can I use this kit and if so, how do I convert to this style of sweep?

Could you use this for wipers that go opposite direction so effectively you put one box upside down? I have an old car with wipers on the outside that both go down and meet in the middle of the car

Hi Yes, you are dead right, just invert one of the wheel boxes.

@@CarBuilderSolutions hi, thanks for your response. May I ask how flexible the shaft is? Due to the design of my car, with both wipers on the far outside I'm not sure I can fit the motor beside that but I might if I can use an angle or even better: an U turn 😁

@@GTE_Channel Hi, you can form the tube to around a 5 inch radius before it drags

I assume a 110 degree wheel, gives a 110 degree wiper arm sweep on the windscreen ?
